So gorgeous gillyp . elaine , how much did shipping to the US cost you on that yarn pack? I'm still sitting here trying to justify it in my mind...lol...like maybe I can give it my MIL for Christmas and then poof! it's a gift, not an indulgence. Haha. tracyarts I cannot wait to see it. Shipping is 10 pounds, so it was 89.99 pounds total - which is about $110. I tried pricing the yarn at Deramores, so there wouldn’t be shipping, but the yarn pack priced out to $110 without the shipping and then you wouldn’t get the bonus patterns for 6 squares for the blanket. I decided I wanted those patterns too, so bought from Black Sheep Wools. This is the most I have spent on a blanket and I’ve crocheted at least a dozen in the past few years, but I’ve been wanting to try Scheepjes Stonewash for a long time, so I splurged.

We would all be available to help here and there is a CAL group for this project at Ravelry. Since it is crocheted in squares, it would be a great project to learn new skills! Okay... I did it. I bought the yarn. I got the Sweet Meadow, since it was the cheapest of the bunches and I don't want to blow money on a newbie project lol Thank you for the nudge ladies! Yay! You can do it! The beauty of this as an early CAL project is that the squares are each all one color - no color switching. Many of the squares don’t have difficult special stitches and for the couple that do, if you decide you just can’t do them (which I doubt; I think you’ll be able to do them all), you can just use the color yarn for one of the other square patterns that you mastered and like instead. They are all the same size, so you can substitute to your heart’s desire and it will turn out beautiful. And finally, the squares are much easier to manage and work with than a big heavy blanket. And the joining will be fast and easy at the end.

Hey everyone! I have been missing all the chat and fun here! You ladies have made some AMAZING projects. So inspiring. I am working on my granny square blanket. It seems like it is taking forever to finish. LOL! But I will continue it.

Also, I saw this article a while back and thought it was so interesting. It is about the benefits of crafting using research and science. I like the part that describes how different crafts help different mental health issues.
Plus it give us crafters hard evidence to SHOP TILL WE DROP & CRAFT AWAY! It is good medicine! LOL!

I don’t think you’ll regret it. Stonewash might just be my favourite yarn. Meanwhile, I’m resisting the urge to order a CAL pack despite the many temptations posted here, I have too many unfinished projects so as much as I love the look of some of these, I just can’t do it. I have enough to keep me going until at least the end of the year. At least. (And that’s ignoring the one project I have which is planned to take until May 2021...!!)

kellyr21 as someone who struggles with mental health issues, I can personally vouch for the comfort of yarn crafts. Every therapist I've ever had has been supportive of it. And I usually go out on Wednesday nights and craft with others.

And I usually go out on Wednesday nights and craft with others. I am dealing with some depression and anxiety. Crocheting as well as my other crafts have helped me. Plus it is FUN! Crocheting is what my craft group started this Summer. I wasn't interested at first. Then, they started teaching me. It was so hard to get it at first. Then, I finally understood and it became fun and therapeutic. The rhythm of it is soothing.

Ok here’s a couple more fair projects. Can you tell what my favorite colors are? (ETA: Man these pictures are awful!! I should take better ones. The crocheted hat is really colorful, as is the pom. Darnit. )

I recently tried planned pooling crochet for the first time. It was challenging for me because I have trouble with maintaining the correct tension. Your tension needs to be extremely consistent to get the argyle pattern in planned pooling. It was interesting to watch it come together, but my scarf turned out too short.

Could you add borders or a fringe at the ends snoopy?

I love love love seeing all your beautiful makes! I completed a baby blanket. And I’m trying so hard to resist those two CALs that were posted here because I have so many UFOs! (Moorland, Havana, Dune, and a mindless continuous square—I just work on whatever feels right for awhile and eventually I’ll finish them all) Attachments:

Can't decide if I should add fake flowers or not. I say no, my Mom says yes. It is supposed to be a Christmas centerpiece/decor item. I wouldn't - I think it would distract from the ornaments.

Could you add borders or a fringe at the ends snoopy ? Unfortunately I ran out of yarn. Maybe I can find a coordinating solid color to make fringe. If not, at least I learned something new, so it’s not a complete loss.

I worked on this in July and then it sat for a bit before I got it to the framer's. I picked it up today. It's for my mom...she likes pumpkins, and the pattern made me think of her. The picture doesn't do it justice! The yellow cloth is much brighter and the white contrasts with it much better than it appears.

Thanks elaine . I got a $98 paypal refund today so I went ahead and ordered the yarn. I got the same price as you! I'm excited. This one is so pretty. I just got a notice that Black Sheep Wools accidentally charged us VAT and they refunded $16.40 to my card. So, that brings the cost of the blanket to under $100 - YAY!

Overheard in the ER...
Kid, late teens/early 20s: mom, can you knit? Mom: no I tried once but I couldn't get the hang of it. Kid: it's easy, it's basically just repeating a pattern over and over again. (Said quite smugly) Mom: and you tried it when?
Haha...I was tempted to hand him my crochet hook and ask him to throw down with me.
