Nothing. I would enjoy autumn if it wasn’t followed by winter though. I would enjoy the autumn leaves, conkers, new boots, comfort food etc but I see it and think “ugh...cold, rain, grey skies, cold nose no matter if I put on another layer, bulky clothes, everyone and everything Christmas obsessed like nothing else happens between September and year end 😑

I'm with you, OP. Even an overcast late summer day can get my synapses firing about Fall because the heat feels so much less oppressive when the sun isn't beating down.
I'm looking forward to my annual trip to Yankee Candle to stock up.
I'm looking forward to reading out on my patio after I've planted all my mums and pansies.
And now, I'm thinking I need to get myself a little chiminea so I can burn some pinion wood and enjoy the wood smoke so many have mentioned.
Mmmmmm...Fall.

It's not fall here until November if we're lucky. I just want it to get under 100 degrees for more than a few days at a time. I'm really, really over the extreme heat and drought.

It has been cool here as well and it is getting me in the mood for fall. Yesterday was the first day of school and I ended up having the day off. I opened all of the windows and cleaned with no interruptions! I also took a few of my fall/winter clothes out of storage and switched my summer Scentsy blocks for the fall ones. I am going to make a few minor decor changes this weekend. Not all out fall decor, but just slightly less summery. I love fall scents and colors, dressing slightly warmer but not feeling like I have to be bundled up. It has been cool earlier this year and I am ok with that, as long as it doesn't mean an earlier, longer winter.

Looking forward to cooler days to be able to shut off a/c and open up the windows. This is my number 1. Then it’s log sleeves and hoodies. I also like when it’s dark earlier because people stay home more, lol.

we are Disneyland Annual Passholders so a stroll thru the parks when they're decorated for fall/halloween is always a great way to kick of the holiday season.

I'm not looking forward to fall... it's beautiful, with the changing leaves and pumpkins, but it always depresses me... everything dying (plants, trees) then the trees are bare until spring again and winter is on the way. Ugh!

Looking forward to: Long pants and not having to shave legs daily. Hot chocolate. Cooler temperatures.
Not looking forward to: Time change. I like when it stays light outside until 7:30pm-8:00pm-ish.

Longer walks with the pups. Unless we are up in the mountains, they are more limited to 1-1.5 mile walks around our little lake. Every evening they get in up to their bellies in water and just stand there.

I am looking forward to seeing a real fall for the first time and experiencing everything that entails. I grew up in Southern California and while they do have some trees that turn, it’s nothing like a Pennsylvania fall. My mom talked about it often and I can’t wait to see it soon now that I live here. I work at a bakery and we are already starting to sell pumpkin products and decorated for Halloween today. Fall is by far my favorite season!

I know I'll miss wearing shorts but right now I'd like to wear some of my fall clothes. I'm getting a little tired of summer things. Just finished a new knitted poncho that is fall weight and I look forward to wearing it - in probably about 2 months.

I love summer. Here in Finland it is great because of all the light. Sun is up even in the night.
It is always hard to let that go and get used to darker mornings and nights. It is also chilly and usually it rains a lot.
I try to find joy from fall decorations and baking. It is nice that there is more time to read and watch movies.
And of course, football season starts! I bought the GamePass for the first time this fall and now I can watch all Chiefs and Texans games. Happy about that!

The older I get, the less I enjoy autumn because I just see it as a precursor to a looong Connecticut winter. But the things I like about fall are the smell of decaying leaves and woodsmoke, seeing the glorious fall color, Halloween, Macoun apples become available, and that first batch of roasted butternut squash soup. IMO, the joys of layering are highly overrated. I hate feeling confined by coats and jackets.

Wine festival is September 14-29, Canadian Thanksgiving is a bit later this year, Monday Oct. 14th and Oktoberfest is October 11th - 19th.
Lots to look forward to. I have my annual Oktoberfest party on Oct. 19th. Sausage, sauerkraut, hot German potato salad and home-made Black Forest cake - yummy!

I’m looking forward to summer 2020! I hate cold weather & it hates me. I love the hot Texas heat & wish it was warm here year around. I realize most aren’t like me when it comes to the heat.

What are you looking forward to this autumn?
I love everything about fall! It's my favorite season! I'm excited for the cooler weather, the leaves changing color, being able to create cute outfits with layers, comfort food (soups, stews, casseroles, etc), putting a quilt on the bed, curling up with an afghan on the couch to read or watch TV, the smell of wood smoke in the air, putting up fall decorations, fall thunderstorms (there's one going on right now! ), football games, my younger sons' fall soccer games, fall smells (maple, pumpkin, spice, clove, etc), fun Halloween activities like the Witch Hunt at a local historic shopping village, getting our pumpkins from a local farm, doing our traditional chili dinner for Halloween night. We built a fire pit in our backyard this year and I'm so excited to have a fire or two on those chilly nights! I'm also excited for Thanksgiving when we take the time to think of all we have been blessed with and to be grateful for what we have. And this year my birthday is ON Thanksgiving!
