Great update (#3)! I'm glad you're home, because getting out of the hospital bed can be healing in itself. I'm sorry about the trip, but you're right that it wouldn't have been a good idea. Hopefully you'll make great progress in the coming weeks.

I too have been checking for an update and am very glad to see it this morning. Florida will still be here next spring and you will be able to skip, hop and run your way through the state. So glad you are getting all the help you need.

Lesley, if you're reading replies, feeling tired is very normal after a brain injury and the fatigue will linger but slowly get better. Easy tasks will be exhausting (I would have to nap after paying the bills and making the shopping list). After I had my stroke I was sleeping 12-16 hours a day. 3 years later and I'm back to 7-9 hours most days. I have days when I sleep 10-14 hours but they're few and far between now. Also, there will be days when your deficits (symptoms) will be worse than others. This isn't loss of progress, it just is. So many things affect it. Weather (barometric pressure changes are a trigger for me), stress, any illness, busy days, travel, excitement (good excitement too), and even concentrating hard on something can make you feel weaker in your affected areas. But like I said, it's not a backslide, it's just situational and you'll bounce back. The good thing is that our brains are able to create all kinds of workarounds to help bypass the damaged areas and compensate for what we lost.

lesley , hope you're doing well and recovering. Haven't had an update from you in some time and that's worrisome. Wondering if anyone here knows how Lesley is faring. Thanks for asking Sue. I apologise if anyone was worried. I’ve tried to get onto the site several times in the last few days, but it kept getting hijacked by a spam ‘competition' for Aldi, and I couldn’t post anything. I would have used my phone but I still have some fine motor skill issues, and the keyboard is too small for anything other than short messages. I end up correcting more than I get right! Im doing pretty well all things considered. I have some spasticity in my foot, which is a little disconcerting. I can be sitting doing nothing at all and my toes start wiggling uncontrollably! I still find a couple of things quite difficult. Putting on clothes when my leg won’t cooperate is interesting, and for some reason getting into a car is difficult. But if those are my only complaints, then I can’t... complain. tracyarts, I found your post very reassuring, thank you very much! I am still sleeping far more than normal, and I can’t believe how long it has taken me to deal with all the travel insurance stuff. However, some of the companies have been really helpful. As I cancelled Disney within 7 days of our travel date, I wasn’t entitled to any refund. However, I received a lovely email from them saying that they were sorry to hear of the reason for my cancellation, and in order to help minimise the stress of it all, and aid my recovery, they were going to refund every last penny. And it was in my bank account the following day.

Really glad to see you post, you were on my mind. Shame about the cancelled holiday but good on Disney for the way they handled it. Clear all your history and cookies, might help with the spam. Rest and rest more

I’m happy to read you are doing so much better. Did your doctors say that you might have the spasticity in your leg as it heals? And sleeping a lot is a good thing. That is when your body does a lot of repair work.
