***Talking point for the wk*** When did you notice your HANDS looked old?!
I am really noticing my hands looking old the last few years. I see my hands in pictures, and i'm like. WTH? WHEN did that happen? they look wrinkly and spotted. Granted about 5 yrs ago, my dd commented on the liver spots on my hands. ??!! whaaaaat? i said. those aren't liver spots, those are freckles!! I think I was fooling myself.
Does anyone use anything special on their hands to help them look younger/better? share please!

My hands look a little older. There are some wrinkles now that I probably started noticing a couple years ago. No spots. I don't really think they look that old. I wear gloves to clean and wash dishes most of the time and use Palmolive dish detergent. "Madge" was right, it really is good for the hands. Use Bath and Body Works hand cream at night. I've never been a sun worshipper except at the beach and then I"m slathered in sunscreen. I also think my hands have stayed young because I'm allergic to housework.

In the last year really. I work in healthcare so I’m always washing my hands and I don’t moisturize them enough. I should probably do better at that.

Mine definitely started to look old in the last 3 years or so. I can see the beginnings of arthritis in my knuckles, though I doubt anyone else would notice at this point. I have some spots, but not too many yet. When my weight is down, they look all wiry with tendons and veins (they were not like that when I was young!) - they look much better when I'm overweight.

I definitely notice it. Both the spots and the scaly, dry skin. I rub the last of my spf moisturizer into the backs of my hands in the morning after applying to my face, and I keep hand cream (love B&BW limoncello) in my bag and apply it whenever I think about it.
It’s not only my hands, though - I am fair skinned, and what used to be called freckles on my arms, chest and upper back now look alarmingly like age spots. And the skin on my chest has developed a very un-youthful quality. Ick. It’s especially frustrating because I’ve been so careful about sun exposure for the last couple of decades. Apparently not careful enough, or else I’m paying for the sunburns of my youth.

Lol, yes. A little extra padding helps both the face and hands look younger IMO. 😂

I feel the same way about you with the freckles, now look like age spots. I lotion myself up every morning. I use clinique dramatically different lotion on my face and chest.

Ugh, I hate the fact that my hands look old. I noticed it a couple years ago - some age spots, skin looks crepey. My kids and I tend to try every hand cream out there since everyone has dry hands in the winter. Interestingly enough I tried Pure Romance's firming cream on the backs of my hands and forearms a couple times last week and it's improved the appearance quite a bit! I also recently was in a jewelry store with dh and tried on one of those criss cross type rings that kind of makes a large x across your finger....it looked horrible on me and I realized I have short stubby fingers on top of having old looking hands

I work in healthcare so I’m always washing my hands Count me in on that! 30 years of nursing I couldn't even begin to imagine how often I've washed my hands, and now the last few years, using alcohol to sanitize them countless times per shift, so they get quite dry from that. However I'm pretty good at putting sunscreen on my hands almost every day so there isn't much sun damage. I'm currently using CeraVe therapeutic hand cream and really like it, it's made my hands feel really soft.

Honestly, the summer I taught tennis, when I was in my early 30s was the beginning of the end, but I really started noticing wrinkly other stuff, like my knees, about five years ago, when I was in my mid-50s. I am a freckley person in general, but don’t really have age spots on my hands. I don’t use any magical potions.

I'm just really noticing it lately, I've lost a bit of weight and my already skinny hands are showing it. I don't have any age spots as yet.

My daughter says that about my hands, but I am in denial.
I just had a few “age spots” frozen off me, one on back and one on side of breast. How long until they fall off now?

I have some minor arthritic changes as well as age spots. Over the past couple of years I have noticed older looking hands. As I inch twd 60 I anticipate these things will only get stronger.

As I sat with my mama at a doctor's appointment about two years ago (she's 94 now; I'm 58), I commented that my hands were starting to look old like hers. She laughed and said I'd always had old hands. And she's not wrong. My hands have generally looked older than the rest of me for most of my life. Oh, well.

My mom had a bunch of sisters. As a kid I remember panicking at how old lady their hands were. I vowed to put whatever went on my face not onto my hands as well. My hands look pretty decent, much younger than all of my sister's hands.

My hands actually look quite young, with no age spots or crepe skin. The veins are slightly bulging, otherwise, they are quite youthful looking.

Do you remember those Dove soap commercials where you were supposed to guess which hands belonged to the mother and which to the daughter? I remember thinking back then that my mom's hands looked far better than mine. Now I realize it's because she was so damn young still. My hands started to get that old look around 50. Everything started to get that old look around 50.

My hands look like they always have at this point, with the exception of a small bump that has developed on the top knuckle of my left index finger. Both my grandmother and mother had/have large, lumpy knuckles from arthritis, with pain and difficulty in maintaining full movement. It started in their 30’s, so noticing a possible and minimal arthritic joint at 48, I’m feeling pretty ok about it.

Off topic-- I just drank the first glass of my colonoscopy prep. Wish me luck. I'm terrified (and hungry).

Mine started around 50 and now at 60 I do have a couple of light age spots. It also doesn't help that mine are very skinny and my veins are huge. I do keep them moisturized.

I'd say the last couple of years for me.
I work with food, so I'm constantly washing my hands. I mostly notice the "age spots" - but I'm also a pasty white Irish girl covered in freckles, so as more appear, I would not really pay much attention. But now I have the larger, age spot style on my hands.
And never mind the hands - the crows feet around my eyes are definitely a thing now too!

I started really disliking my hands about 7 or so years ago (I'm 58). I'm a freckle faced, fair skinned, red head. We belonged to a swim club when I was growing up and I was a water baby at the pool, the lake, on vacations until I was probably 20 or so. Massive, awful sunburns that blistered terribly. I've had all 3 skin cancers (including on my hands) and have pre-cancerous stuff removed at the derm almost every year I go in for a check.
Anyhow, I don't mistreat my hands. They get suncreen when I get out of the shower, and get a nice thick cream at bedtime. The wrinkles tick me off. I know I could get rid of most of the discoloration with IPL, and I really should do it simply for vanity's sake. I haven't read the thread yet but I'll be curious if anyone has suggestions for wrinkles and dryness.

I don't like the question. We're not old! We're middle aged. Huge difference. Old people are in their 90's.
So, I don't think my hands look old. Older, yes. Not old. A couple of months ago I started noticing faint, tiny age spots popping up on my hands. It made me think, "shit! I guess they were right about using sunscreen every day but I never thought about using it on my hands". Have it done anything about it? No. I plan to check the website that lists sunscreens and other products that are healthier for you depending on the ingredients (I forgot what's it called at the moment), and buy one that is listed on that site to use on my face and hands.
I have fair skin so I'm not surprised to see this sign of getting older.

Honestly I noticed it in my 40's and now it's crazy they look horrible and much older than my 52 years. My neck looks old to and I have a lot of spots on my chest from wearing v-necks or at least that's what I'm blaming. I am fair and burn easily.

I’m almost 45 and I looked down at my hands the other day and noticed I now have my mom’s hands. I should have been better about using SPF on them.

I really haven't seen much of a change. What do I do? Never stop having oily skin. Some day I have hopes of finally growing out of acne, but it isn't today!
