Does anyone know when the signups will start for the annual holiday card exchange? I've participated in it the past two years and so look forward to it. I'm stepping up my game this year and have a more ambitious card planned. Can't wait! I just can't recall when we usually sign up??

It looks like the sign up sheet usually goes up around the first week of October.

I’m a newbie so can someone explain how it works? I would love to sign up too! You sign up by giving your email and mailing address. After sign up closes everyone receives a spreadsheet with all the addresses. Then you mail holiday cards to as many or as little as you like. Cards do not have to be homemade. Some people on the list will send to everyone so you will get a good quantity of cards. We typically get around 130 participants and i’ve received an average 70-90 cards each year.

I love this project. I puts me in the holiday mood. I always procrastinate and then have a massive card making frenzy for about 10 days.

I was just thinking to myself that maybe I should start designing my card but then I remembered how much fun it was to kind of be pushed for time last year. I think it made it even more festive and fun for me!

Last year was my first year as well and I loved it. It was so exciting seeing all the happy mail come in through Dec and into Jan.
Kaisercraft had one of their 50% off sales today so I bought a heap of card blanks and envelopes for this years swap.

I procrastinate with my personal cards, but I don't find it fun or festive, so I'm trying not to do that this year.

And we're having CARDtober challenges here all next month if you need a little inspo/encouragement

LEOwife will post it and admin pins it to the top.
Last year was my first year. I was able to get 50 cards out. I already have stamps and want to make cards this year.
I think I will use my new Lawn Fawn build a house with add on dies to make some cards.
Can you just buy 4x6 envelopes? I will create my own card base.

You can definitely buy bulk envelopes although I find 4x6 a little harder to find. A2 (sized for half a letter sized sheet folded in half) are the easiest to find. You can get them on amazon or staples or wherever, but I buy in bulk from clearbags.com - the bright white (on this page) are the cheapest I've found and are not too thin. You do have to pay for shipping though, so the price may end up closer to what you would pay at an office supply store. You can also get envelopes through stamping companies - Gina K makes some really beautiful colors, but I'm not sure how the prices are.

The card I made last year for the swap was a 4 x 6 card and needed an envelope a tad bit bigger than that and I found these on Amazon. www.amazon.com/dp/B0049GG1Y0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_oPvLDbD1MZ8JHThey were really nice quality! Not see-thru and nice thickness. I can't remember if they were self stick or not but I know that I used washi on the back of each envelope regardless so that didn't really affect me either way. I also can't honestly say if this is a good price or not but I knew I needed them and I knew I needed this particular size. I ended up being very happy with them and would order again if I need that size!

I'm bookmarking those for future reference - I always have trouble finding envelopes to fit standard photos. I used to send photo cards that I made myself but finding envelopes was always a nuisance.
