Did someone already start one of these & I missed it?
Thoughts on the new season? I don't like how they started it, without Jeff there to introduce everything. I found it so hard to figure out who was on which tribe for the first bit. I think I really like the Island of the Idols switch though. Keeps it different & interesting!

Dh, ds, and I enjoyed it. We also thought Sandra and Boston Rob were more likable than we expected.

I loved the two of them in their spy hut during tribal. Is it just me or does Sandra look like Roz from Monster's Inc? Especially noticed it in the spy hut.

I missed the usual beginning when the survivors have to scramble for supplies, and maybe row or hike to their campsite.
And, IF we must have the returning players then this was a great way to do it and now I'm not quite as annoyed as I was when I first heard Rob and Sandra were going to be on. Keep them on their Idol Island and out of competition.
The gal who had to go to the Idol Island was kind of stupid to think she could beat Rob on the fire making challenge after only a little bit of practice. And I wonder why she didn't just tell her tribe about that experience? Now when they find out about Rob and Sandra they'll know she can lie. Why not just say "omg guys, guess what "Island of the Idols" really means!!!" then just say that they taught her how to make fire. Done.
Anyway, seems okay so far. Surprisingly no one has annoyed me yet. Usually it takes about 10 minutes for me to form a dislike of someone. lol

I was so unhappy about the Rob/Sandra twist, and I ended up liking it so much! Rob seemed to dominate the conversation, but since they weren’t competing, Ithey both seemed much more open and honest. I’m looking forward to how this plays into the season!
I also felt Elizabeth could have used her time better on Idol island, but I suppose we didn’t see everything. I don’t know if I would have tried the fire challenge with Rob, but we always complain as viewers when contestants don’t just “go for it”, so I might have. I would have asked them lots of questions, like if they thought I should lie about what happened on the island. How to play the “no vote” problem.
I like that there seem to be more “average people” playing and not so many supermodels recruited for their looks. So far nobody stands out, but Mr. touchy-feely can go anytime. He gave me the creeps.

I thought that because Elizabeth is an Olympian, she would take the challenge and not be crushed when she lost. I also thought I’d hate the Rob/Sandra inclusion, but liked it a lot, especially the spy hut™ caangel, but I wonder how long the real idols can be kept secret?

I agree she shouldn't have lied about idol island. People are gonna find out anyway, why lie? She didn't need to tell them they helped her with fire making, but she could have made up something. "Rob and Sandra were there, I had the chance to play a game to win a meal, but I lost" wouldn't give anything away. It was interesting when Rob was talking about her taking the first offer. If she had decided not to make fire against him, would he have sweetened the offer, maybe given her a head start? DH also commented on how many regular people there are this season.

Other's are going to go there. That was dumb. I also thought they would show her no vote parchment, but I see they didn't. That would have made things interesting, because the tribe would have been thinking..whaaaat? I posted about my dislike of having Sandra back, but I LIKED it! Though I am not sure of their advice to the 1st one going there. Go with your gut. So she lied? that's gonna bite her. and I think her gut was to compete with him in the fire thing, and she lost. ehhh. Her gut seems not so good.

I wasn't thrilled about Rob and Sandra being on the show again, but the way they did it worked I thought. They both seem more likeable when they aren't competing. It was funny when he asked her at tribal if it bothered her when she had to vote people out and she answered, "**** no.". She does crack me up. lol
I think lying about the Island of the Idols is going to bite Elizabeth in the butt. Can't believe she took that challenge.
I think it's going to be a good season.

I liked the show overall.. and I liked who got voted out (I can't remember the name).. but he was annoying!
I have always liked Boston Rob. Sandra, sometimes I do, then she can get a little cocky then I don't like her again.. lol
But all in all it's good to see all new players.
I was impressed with the huge HEADS of Rob and Sandra.. I wonder how they made those... (then in my snarky head, are they going to auction them off?? HAHAHA)

My dh and I like the show!! I like how they have switched things up this season, Survivor is good at keeping it interesting.
Elizabeth was not too bright to go up against Rob in a fire making challenge and even less bright to lie to her tribemates about what Idol Island even was. That will definitely come back to bite her in the butt.
Can't stand Mr. Touchy Feely, he reminds me of Harvey Weinstein. Ick!!!
Happy with who went home...he seems very shady.

I only half watched last night, and actually missed the part from where Elizabeth made up her mind whether to compete against Rob or not, and when she returned to camp. That said, I cannot imagine going into this game and NOT taking on a challenge like that. She only lost her vote for one TC, correct? I'd have totally taken that challenge, even though I knew there was a pretty good shot that I'd lose. That said, it wouldn't occur to me to dicker for a better deal. I hope some of the tribe members do bargain for a better deal. It'll be fun to watch.

Mr Touchy-feely is creepy as hell. I would be getting rid of him asap. I didn't like the guy that left either, I also thought he was pretty shady. It bugged me when the Indian girl (can't remember her name) was willing to flip from her all-girls alliance. And that right there is why all-girls alliances never work out, somebody always flips or back stabs the others
I really like Elaine. I bet she'd be fun to hang out with on the island.
Rob & Sandra listening in to tribal council was awesome, especially her comment about voting people out LOL

I think they probably coached Elizabeth to lie about Rob/Sandra, and they will do the same for the future island visitors. It takes away a big reveal for production if people know before they go. Plus, this will be a shared secret (bonding point) for her and future Idol Isle visitors.
When these folks went out there, they had seen the first 4 episodes of Ghost Island. Think back to how much we were complaining about people not taking the risk on Ghost Island at that point in the season. I suspect that was on Elizabeth's mind. I was surprised to not hear more questions from her before she made a decision, but she was never going to beat Rob - if she'd thought about it, it should have been an obvious choice.

Why on earth can't men wear swim shorts instead of underwear on this show? Especially light blue underwear that shows way too much. The other guy swinging to and fro -- good grief, all they have to do is go get swim or board shorts! Ugh.
I also like Elaine - she's fun. The gal who went to Idols Island reminded me of a co-worker - a little too perky and wide-eyed - you wonder if they do that all the time!
Was glad with the guy voted off - one pair of ugly undies gone!

I am watching now. When I heard Rob and Sandra were coming back I almost skipped this season. I quit watching Big Brother early on this season and won't be watching it ever again. I thought the same way when I heard Rob and Sandra would be there but now that I know they aren't competing I am ok with it.
I like this group so far much better than the last few seasons. I too really like Elaine. She seems very genuine and also smart. That touchy feely guy is downright creepy. No way would I sit and let him touch me or lay on me like that. The one woman that was telling him she didn't like it is going to get on my last nerve saying “ Like” every other word.

At this point, after this many seasons, I can’t imagine who goes on survivor without at least trying fire building? DUH If you have time to pack your stuff & get a passport then you have time to play with making fire a bit.
So when she challenged Rob, who seemed to make that first fire in like 30 seconds, I thought she knew how to make fire & had been playing them a bit. But, no, she still had no idea and should never have accepted that challenge.
Sure, you lie on Survivor we all know that, after these many seasons anyone there should know that. BUT you don’t lie about something that everyone will know about by the merge. Island of the idols is a secret that not going to remain secret for long. That was an even dumber move. Loosing her vote she could have recovered from, especially since no one will ever know til they go home. But when everyone knows she lied about island of the idols she is going to have a problem. She should start ‘confiding’ in people quickly or something but she has damage control to do.

I wasn't going to watch this season but was talked into giving it a try from folks on our thread here (mainly Jackie) so I did. I'm really glad I did. As it turned out Rob and Sandra were only on air for a very short time which is just how I like it if they have to be part of it. Most of the time it's all new players which is my favorite format. The start of this season was strange with no Jeff at all in sight. It left a kind of disapointing feeling all around and while I like change (no coming in on a boat and gathering items) it would have been nice to have Jeff there welcoming the group. I really like Elaine and felt sorry for her when she was being targeted for being funny and great to get along with. Who targets people like this on the first vote? That's the people you want to keep in your tribe! I'm very glad she didn't get voted out. It's too early for me to form any favorites but I know I can't stand touchy-feely guy like most of you mentioned. He also gives me the creeps. How about that 59 year old chief lifeguard Janet from the purple tribe who started a fire minutes (okay with editing who knows how long it really was?) from getting on the beach with some bamboo pretty much alone? Wasn't she super impressive? I loved that! She showed her tribe that even though she was older than the rest of them she had skills to keep her around. Smart lady!

I think it always has something to do with whatever they're trying to push for that person....the cute young girls get skimpy clothes, the lawyer might have the suit, etc.
