I saw the $5 albums at Michaels the other day and none of the colors spoke to me. The colors weren't bad, they just don't match (at all) what I have. For my kids' albums, I use either red or navy. I also have a couple of other colors for specific even albums, and my travel albums always match each other (I do two per vacation). I know that I am very left brained and I notice color. My albums are also out on display in two different rooms, so that might be part of it. (I won't even get into the size of the album...)
They had the yellow and white striped album that I thought would be great for travel, but they didn't have enough, so I passed.
How specific (maybe picky isn't the right word for this) are you about your album colors?

I saw the $5 albums at Michaels What sizes? I'm not picky at all. I started out doing pink, blue, and aqua blue for my kids. When scrapbooking became less popular and there were less color choices, I bought whatever color I could find. It's more about brand for me. I prefer WRMK. I do have some DCWV and Project Life that aren't as good.
ETA: I have seen some Kaisercraft albums that I really like, but I don't know about the quality.

I guess I am a little picky. I've bought the $5 albums at M's and they're all different colors and now I have regrets. Lesson learned. My kids' 8.5x11 three ring albums are different styles but they're all black and I'm happy with them. I will make a point to go to HL when they have 50% off sales so I can pick up some black 12x12 three ring albums and move my layouts over to them.

Not picky about color.
I only like 3 ring albums, for ease of moving stuff around.
I also prefer faux leather. Cloth gets dirty. Paper can rip.

Totally picky! Doesn't matter if its free, if I don't like the colour, I don't want it!

I'm boring...my basic albums are all black 3-ring 8.5x11 albums from HL and my travel albums are all travel print 3-ring 8.5x11 albums from HL. My children's baby books are in 3-ring binders from Office Max (DS's are a soft green, DD19's are pink, and DD12's are a light purple)

Not picky at all. I prefer WRMK albums, faux leather. However, I have a mix of albums, some I bought, some were given to me by people who don't do 12x12, some were gifts at a crop. I have PL patterned albums which I like, but prefer the faux leather for longevity. I only ever see the spine and I'm not anal about matchy-matchy on my shelves.

I’m very picky. I have 2 different colors for vacations; teal and kiwi. I know they probably won’t be around forever, so I’m glad I have a few extras.

Very Picky actually. I finally found a 12x12 color that I know I could life with for the family PL albums and I'm going to buy 10 because I have a fear of not being able to find them again. I also did the same thing when I found albums for my daughter and son. I purchased 5 of each because I don't really want to think about albums anymore.

I'm a little picky. I was trying for all black, but the lighting in Michael's was so bad that I ended up buying a few navy albums a few times. Oh well!

They were PL 12 x 12 albums.

If I don't like the color or texture or fabric of something I don't enjoy using it, and I definitely don't enjoy seeing it on my shelves. So yeah, picky.

Several years ago, I bought 23 WRMK albums for about $4 each with shipping. It was a crazy deal a friend got and she put one in her basket and the $2.50 price came up. She started dropping the expensive ones in there ($40) and it was the same thing. She has a special buying license (what the heck are these called?) and she called and asked I wanted any. Yes, please. We bought 75 that day. I have a few of the navy and red left over, but will fill them when I catch up on 8 years of scrapping my kids when they were younger.

None whatsoever. I’ll use anything if it’s the right price. If I want it to look special, I’ll recover it.

I love the Forest Green We R Memory Keepers album. I wish the hardware was gold, but I can easily fix it if it's a pain to look at.

eh, Im not so picky. As long as it is D ring then I can be ok with just about any color (no brown or purple). When scrappy albums were easy to get ahold of, I strictly used black clot AC albums. Now, I use the WRMK leather albums but I cant always get the colors I want. My albums live in the top of a closet so its not like people see them all the time.

You picky ladies would hate seeing my album shelves. There is really no rhyme or reason, just as long as it was 12x12 D-ring. I hate spending so much money on the thing that just holds the stuff together. I guess if I really cared, I could spray paint them. The only kind I'm not a fan of is the faux leather and that's just because it doesn't fit on my shelves from IKEA.

And I mix faux-leather and chipboard too

In fact they fit almost perfectly. There's not a lot of room to grab to pull it out when the cube is full end to end.

I don't know the weird IKEA name for the shelves I have, I just know that my faux leather (Becky Higgins, I believe) don't fit. Otherwise, I'd totally mix faux leather into the mix, too!

Whenever I start an album I think about what color I want it to be. Unfortunately sometimes that color isn't available anymore. For my 70's albums I used coral and lime green. I used butterscotch for Arizona and aqua for California. For my sons I started with forest green but switched to navy for one and brown/burgundy for the other. For DGD I wanted to use pink which I had for her first album but switched to vanilla because of availability.
Eventually I would like to get each persons albums into one color that identifies it as theirs. Of course that would mean buying lots more albums. I keep waiting for someone to start producing the 8.5x11 colors of wrmk.

Usually my album choice is based off the content inside. So I didn’t usually look for an album until I need it. My best find this year was a $2 clearance album at HL with a giant pineapple on it...perfect for our Hawaii book I was about to start

I used to be picky. I no longer am. Life happens, albums get filled, period. In an ideal world, I'd have a row of black albums to match my black soul. But there's some turquoise, some red, some pattern fun, some metallic, etc. And it's just fine. As long as I don't actively dislike the colour (there's a specific shade of yellow-y pear green I just can't), it's all good. I'm joining dawnnikol and kitbop on the hippie bench when it comes to album covers.

I’m probably the least picky. I have 8 1/2 by 11 albums that I bought in 1998 that have patterns on them, I have a few thick white binders and some faux leather. When I went to 12 by 12 I got some post bound and then went to D ring. I have an album of my younger life in Laura Ashley albums that are post bound. Lately I’ve bought HL cloth albums and the ones for dgd are bright pink, that’s the only thing that’s consistent. I’ve recently bought two post bound for specific subjects and they’re working just fine (and were cheap). I bought some of the $5 albums at Michaels and they’ll go into the mix...my shelves would probably drive some of you nutty! In spite of me not being picky there was something about some PL albums that had a quote on the front cover that bothered me...otherwise they were a nice blue but the front cover turned me off.
In all honesty, I do get a bit envious when I see scraprooms that are perfectly coordinated, including albums, but my completed albums aren’t even in my scrap area.

I have a bunch of different albums, spanning my 21 yrs of scrapbooking. Some changes were born of necessity, as I could not get the same albums as I did so long ago, some were from just picking up things on clearance, and wanting to use it up. I've changed sizes, 12x12 mostly, but some small travel ones thrown in. I just got a bunch of CM albums plus the old pages, from a friend who's mom passed and wanted to give her unused albums to someone who scrapbooks. I am so grateful that she gave them to me, you bet I am going to fill them up. I don't care at all, as long as they fit in my ikea shelves. I've gone to D ring and back to strap hinge to post hinge, all different colors. I just like having my pics in books is all, and they need to fit my budget.
