I have been patiently waiting for the last two month to get to my craft room. The rest of the house is mostly done - everyone else is taken care of - now it is MY turn! We did a shopping trip to Ikea yesterday where I got *almost* everything I wanted. (Waiting to see how it all fits before I add any more storage).
Now for the fun and hard part!
I have two slat walls that I used for paper storage at my old house, but am not sure about using both in my new room.
My look: Industrial Farmhouse I COULD just put one of them up in the closet in the room - it would fit nicely and be more hidden (no door on the closet - I"m leaving it open) OR I could put BOTH of them up on the back wall and just have a wall of paper. Just having one would not fit all of my paper, but I could keep my go to paper out. Having both fits almost all of my paper (what can I say - I love paper) but will be much more in your face.
Thoughts?

Will the slat paper storage units be exposed to direct sun on the back wall? If so, I'd put one in the closet for your darker papers.
Congratulations! I can't wait to see the finished room.

What color are your walls? I would prefer to have both out, if not in direct sun light.
What about painting them gun metal or black (if possible) to give it an edgy look? Or if white, distress them a bit?

Industrial Farmhouse to means means minimal visual clutter and streamlined decor. So I would put them in the closet.

Industrial Farmhouse to means means minimal visual clutter and streamlined decor. I am wondering what the theme of my scraproom is? "Handmedown furniture and clutter?" Or, "Stuff I bought in the 90's that kinda still works and crap everywhere" ?? Good luck!

Such a good point - we had not thought of that at all. I have two HUGE windows in the room, so closet it is. Now hoping all of my paper will fit in just the one wall.

My wall color is called quietude (https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW6212-quietude#/6212/?s=coordinatingColors&p=PS0) and my trim is white. I went ahead and got white for the ikea storage as well. I like the idea of painting it, but think Hubby just wants to get them up quickly. LOL

I was SO blessed to be able to purchase the slat walls and paper storage from a failed scrapbook store. They had left everything and skipped out on their rent. The landlord had NO idea what to do with the stores storage pieces and had priced them stupid cheap (like $1 each!) . I told them that was WAY too cheap and if they wanted to recoup some of their missed rent I could have the stuff sold that afternoon by calling all of my scrappy friends. LOL . They thanked me by letting ME buy what I wanted at $1 each. Here is an example of them: www.thescrapbookinghousewife.com/2010/07/scrapbooking-storage-solution-for-sale.html

I'm trying to use what I have, but sure do want it to look nice and clean and open. I did put one in the closet and gave the other slat wall to my DH to put in the basement. I'll take pictures soon!

We made a good profit selling our house, so I am blessed to be able to have some fun wiggle room in our budget. That has made this move so much more fun and less stressful. I'm loving the way our house is coming together!

I am really just poking fun at myself because I know it could be better if I put a little more effort in...I cannot wait to see pictures.

I have a rolling rack with hanging folders. I started noticing a little fading on the top edge of my darker cardstock. Now I toss a dishtowel over the top of the rack to protect my paper when not in use.

Haha! You guys crack me up. It certainly has been a progression over the years for me - like my first "space" being in my dining corner and my DH put up cabinets he got on the side of the road - and they REEKED of smoke. I'm allergic (asthma) so you can see where this is going. It took months to get the smell out of them and I was scared to put anything in them so it wouldn't smell, too. But they were free...so.... LOL
I am ALMOST done. I have a few things to hang a a key shelf with drawers to install so I can finish putting things away. I'll post reveal photos when I'm done hopefully by tomorrow!
