I bought this fabric at Aldi and I'm making a log cabin quilt top.

This pretty much sums things up. The struggle is real. LOL! This is SO me. Or was. I have had to go through and clear out much of my craft room, because ds#1 is going to move into it and my craft stuff has to fit into a much smaller room. I donated literally bins of yarn to goodwill - the sweater quantities stuff, the novelty yarn, the stuff before I knew better. I then went through my good stuff and sold enough of it on eBay to buy myself the amazing Traeger smoker/grill I’d been lusting over. The other benefit is that I started sock knitting again after 8ish years because I hand my hands on the yarns I fell in love with when I bought them 10 years ago. I’m just finishing up my first pair that I knit last month and will post a pic later. I literally cut my yarn stash down to less than 1/4 of what it was 2 months ago. It has been liberating. And I’ve been cooking on that smoker/grill at least 3 nights per week - I smoked fresh trout that I caught on Sunday on it last night.

I found a group of retirees that knit and crochet for charities. I've been sorting my stash and bagging things up to donate as well. I'm trying to be far more discerning with my yarn purchases these days. I've got a lot in the categories projects from 2007 and stuff I bought before I knew what was good.

My husband is a Traeger dealer, I know how much yarn you sold to get one. Wowza! I have great admiration for your ability to destash like that. I remind myself on the regular that I need to do it, but it's so incredibly overwhelming.

I made TMNT ornaments just like these with my kids yesterday.
Green plastic ornaments, ribbon (red, orange, blue, purple), googly eyes, and glue. So easy!

So, I have 5 of these 12.5x12.5 blocks finished and another 7 almost finished. I added the green to give a bit of variation, I think it works?

We've had some appalling weather and I've been a bit ill so I've pretty much been staying indoors and sewing. I'm pretending I can't see all the housework/tidying/DIY/unpacking that still needs to be done!

Those TMNT would have gone down a storm in this house when my boys were young! lainey, I scrolled back up to check the date of your first post, you are so speedy. What pretty colours too. I’ve only done a very small amount of cross stitch. I’ve had an URT infection for most is September and hadn’t realised how much it had wiped me out until I got up today and actually achieved something. I’m really behind with work matters and housework so I need to get on top of that so this month will be barren, craftwise. I shall cheer you on from the sidelines.

lainey Your blocks look lovely. Please note - the traditional log cabin block has either a red or orange or yellow, in your case maybe pink for the first square in the middle. This square represents the "hearth" or "fire place" in the log cabin home. Also, one side is lighter and the other side is darker, to distinguish the different halves of the block. I wish that our Aldi would sell fabric.

I picked up two quilts on Saturday from the quilt shop and am currently sewing the binding down (I have them trim and sew the binding on for me). Hope to have photos of the finished quilt by the weekend. lainey - I love the colors in your blocks. That's going to be a lovely quilt when you are finished! jeremysgirl - That's a great meme - and one of the reasons I haven't jumped back onto the knitting/crochet bandwagon (I used to do both many years ago). Here is the Fabric version which explains a lot of my stash (although my stash is MUCH larger ).

Just wondering what everyone thinks of this, it seems a bit shonky to me.
I've had this ad pop up on FB and I knew I recognised one of the items, this shawl Shawl After a bit of Googling it turns out it's this pattern Nightshift Does this seem off to anyone else? I feel kind of silly asking.

I'm thinking it's a scam, they have other scarves/shawls where the pictures have been taken directly from Etsy and Ravelry. I own this pattern but never made it WrapI've emailed the designer of the Nightshift shawl incase she isn't aware.

The company seems to most likely be in China, if you look at the shipping page. I wouldn’t doubt that they are able to find workers who will make them for next to nothing (by our standards) and I’ll bet it with cheap Chinese produced yarn products. I would also bet that it is similar to the latest round of Bridal dress ordered from a Chinese manufacturer online where the picture is a bridal dress from a magazine and what arrives is comically not even close to the picture. Some type of handmade shawl would arrive, but I’d bet it wouldn’t look like the picture.

I made 1 of each of the two squares yesterday. I always have an issue with puffs because I am a tight crocheter, so I purposefully made the puff loops bigger than I normally crochet. By the time I finished the square it was 17 cm, rather than the 15.5-16 cm the other squares have been. When I made a second Wheat square today, I crocheted with normal tension and that square ended up being 15.5 cm. So, I ended up ripping back the whole first Wheat square I made and am re-crocheting it.

You can tell your husband he sells a Pea Approved item. LOL! It was hard to part with all that lovely yarn, much of which isn’t made any more, but it deserved to be knit up and worn. It wasn’t doing anybody any good sitting in those bins in my craft room. I still have plenty left to see me through the next few years.

You have inspired me to go through my stash as well. Mine isn’t nearly as large as most, only taking up about 5’ x 2’ shelf space, including the containers and my tools. But I just went through and grabbed a trash bag full that I am not in love with and it feels great! Now my mental energy can concentrate on projects that I love with beautiful, quality yarns. You know, if I ever pick up my needles again.

I have spent the past three weeks and more sitting around waiting for contractors to come to my house and do work, and then sitting around while they work. I needed something easy to do that I could put down quickly and answer questions if needed, and then pick up quickly. So this is what I've produced in that time, on scrap bits of fabric. Of course they need to be ironed, and then I want to make them into little ornaments or stuffies, maybe put some in a basket...if I ever get around to that, I'll share those, too.

All your projects are wonderful as usual. jeremysgirl - LOVE that meme! It's so me! **GypsyGirl** - your meme made me laugh too. Not fabric as much, but I have papers in all of those categories. LavenderLayoutLady - adorable baubles! lainey I can't believe how quickly you finished the quilt tops. I agree about letting the designer know that her pattern is being used unlawfully. Mystie You're so clever. I have a friend who cross-stitches those miniatures and one takes her half a day. So much time and work goes into them. I'm working on something somewhat ambitious. I got some yarn in a perfect heliotrope colour for me, but it's bulky yarn (chunky in UK terms) and I wanted a short, fitted, non-raglan, v-neck cardigan or jacket. Could I find a pattern anywhere on Ravelry, Pinterest or even Etsy? Nope. So I'm modelling it on an existing little sweater, and basically making it up as I go along. Here is my progress so far. Original sweater: {deleted to save space} Back panel: {deleted to save space}

Now I'm working on one of the front panels. It's going to be pretty cosy.

Mystie Where do you buy the patterns for the smaller cross stitch projects? I don't have the patience to do big elaborate one, I love the quick sense of accomplishment. I haven't had much luck finding decent patterns though. Thanks!

It’s looking great RedSquirrelUK! Mystie, I love those Halloween images! I started to teach the DGDs to stitch last month. The 6 year old can manage running, cross and back stitch without any supervision and the 5 year old can do running stitch and is desperate to learn back stitch so she can stitch her name like her sister.
