I think I'm going to try and do the DD ones locally through CVS - not sure yet on whether daily or weekly...I strongly suspect DH will vote for weekly since he'll be the one driving to CVS to pick them up, lol (I don't drive). Hey, you can always settle on a happy compromise: twice a week? That way, you get a stack of photos in the middle of the week and on the weekend... I need to be in some of the photos Yes, great reminder Linda! We often forget to include ourselves in our albums, making us observers rather than participants in our own stories recorded. Glad you're making a mental note (and reminding us all)! Reach out via PM with your address for the left-over Pebbles die-cuts. I'm happy to mail them to you ASAP so they reach you before the December madness. How have I not noticed this thread all month!?!? Asking the important questions... Here's my favorite Felicity Jane thing on its way to me next month Those chipboard numbers were my fave item from the FJ Christmas release this year as well. You did good ordering them! I probably would've have bought a set were it not for international shipping. This line just grows lovelier by the year. I liked it when it came out but when I look at my Christmas memories scrapped with it now, I absolutely love it. It's going to look gorgeous for this year! I think Hip Kit will go into 2016 and 2017 albums, which are more pastel/clear pinks and mints. I love seeing colour scheme changes in December albums. They're a good reflection of scrappy trends and a lovely reminder of all the goodies we bought (or tried hard not to buy) from those years... Welcome aboard, carolynhasacat! I think I'll do another December Prep challenge in November and hope you'll continue to make yourself at home in our cosy little thread.

Linda I was prepping some stuff (probably for next year's December album) using all the little bits I could find in my tiny stash and made a Saint Nicholas card for the 6th of December (we lived for a few years in a region that has this radition and it has stayed with me although I don't actually celebrate it). I just realised it must be tough for you to find paper goodies related to this celebration. I'm guessing they don't exist in North America? What's the St. Nicholas story you were given in Germany? I was told he walked the roofs of the world on his horse during the night of December 6th to distribute all the gifts (mostly colouring books, colouring pens, chocolate, tangerines and tiny letter-shaped biscuits). It would be interesting to create a visual representation of all the different versions of St. Nicholas that coexist in Europe. (sorry about the crappy pic)

sleepingbooty - I was very young when I lived in Germany (6m - 5yr) so i'm not sure how much of our family tradition is actually German vs modified. I do know we always put out shoes/boots on St Nicholas Eve and St Nicholas would fill them. I vaguely remember branches (switches) with candies tied on from when we lived in Germany - later on I remember a chocolate orange, chocolate coins, an ornament for our own small Christmas tree, and a Christmas themed colouring book or activity pad. It was definitely a secular holiday growing up. For my own children , it's usually been an ornament, a chocolate orange, chocolate coins, a candy cane and sometimes a book or slippers - and we've usually focused more on the Catholic aspect of St Nicholas as the Bishop of Myra and the patron of children etc... Here's me at age 2 with St Nicholas

Linda Aw, how cute! So glad you have photos from those different traditions. Sounds like we had some things in common and that St. Nicholas is one of the rare celebrations that has kept the luxury of oranges and tangerines/mandarines/clementines alive despite the obvious change in price tags and production + distribution through the years. Very humbling to be reminded how fortunate we are to have such fruit and chocolate as a staple nowadays. Dutch scrap supply store Scrapdelight has a Project Pepernoot kit every year to document St. Nicholas. I believe their new one is about to drop but here's a look at least year's (definitely secular despite the very Catholic mitre:

Thanks sleepingbooty - that's a lovely kit. I remember my dad saying that the only time he ever had an orange as a child was in his Christmas stocking along with some nuts - he was raised in England, very poor family (he dropped out of school at 14 despite winning a scholarship to secondary school because his family needed his wages). I still put an orange or tangerine or the like in my family's Christmas stocking in his memory even though they aren't a treat to my children the way they were to my dad in the 1920s/1930s (he was born in 1925)

It's the top and bottom edges that seem to hang over the edge of the platform. Do you have the extended platform? My new big shot (my original handle froze, and then broke when my weight lifting son tried to free if for me ) came with the extended platform, and I've been eyeing these dies! I had toyed with the idea of using a planner or TN size for this year's DD. Each year, my DD is unique, although several years use simple stories albums.

Do they make those magnetic?
