Ok I bought on Aliiexpress a die used for the hot foiling.
I don't have an hot foil machine nor do I intend on buying one anytime soon. Because of the price I thought I could experiment with it and my thought was letterpressing with it.
I am wondering what type of ink I should use on it? Maybe paint ?
I own a big shot..so initially I will try just running it thru like a regular die see what impression I get. If it is too much I will try using the embossing sandwich instead.
I will have to adhere the die to a plate which is fine and or pending how it impresses I could just use it on foil or metallic paper.
I have all these ideas but damn work gets in the way..and traffic makes me mad and by the time i get home I have lost the will to do anything ....I'm having a week..maybe month.
So has anyone tried this.

I think a pigment ink would work. So actual pigment and or oxide inks. I really would only have one shot at make sure the ink is good.

I haven't tried it yet, but Jennifer McGuire has a whole video on it! She got really great results.
