If you had to attend a costume party, what costume would you wear? I've always liked fairy costumes so that's probably what I'd wear. What would you wear?

I love Halloween and we go to an awesome Halloween party every year with a live band. It’s an artsy group so a lot of the costumes are really elaborate. This year I wanted something easy and danceable so I’m going as a boxer. DH is going to be my manager/trainer.

I hate costume parties, but I usually have to go to at least one a year. I end up making my costume — something where I can just buy a colored t-shirt and do some kind of elaborate felt design on it, maybe wear ears or a hat and call it a day. Last year, I went as grape jelly and my husband went as peanut butter. Or I pick something I can easily create with clothes in my closet + accessories (like one year, I was Arthur Read, the aardvark, and my husband was Buster).

I would probably go as the last thing I dressed up in, which was Max from Where the Wild Things Are. I bought a furry white hooded onesie from Amazon, sewed a brown furry tail that I pinned on and made a fake fur trimmed crown. It was pretty awesome considering my very minimal effort. The only problem with that costume was that it would be really freaking hot to wear indoors for any length of time. I wore it outside to sit on my porch and it was perfect.

I haven't dressed up in years.. I think the last time was Mimi from the Drew Carey Show... loud moomoo dress, loud makeup..
My sister and her friend were epic a few years ago.. they went as Pedro and Napoleon Dynamite ... I will track down the picture.. they were SO good.. My mom didn't even recognize her own daughter.. she still doesn't believe it.

Our friends throw a themed party every year. One year it was Titanic. Husband went as John Astor and I was “frozen” Rose. Another year it was 1950’s. We went with another couple as the Mouseketeers( White long sleeved turtle necks with names using iron letters. Guys wore jeans and my friend and I pleated skirts. This year it is a Wild West theme. Easy easy, jeans, western shirt, boots and hat.

I have a lot of historical costumes so I would wear one of them. However if I was going to go buy a costume, I might like to go as a witch. I wore a witch costume for a few years in my 20's and it was a good costume.

I have several go-to costumes...I dress up for all kinds of things in my classroom. I can go as a minnie mouse pirate:leggings, pirate tutu, and pirate ears; a witch: purple/black tutu, broom, striped leggings, witch hat, purple or black shirt; Alice in Wonderland: blue dress, white apron, white tights, and black headband.
I'm all about the tutu, legging/tights, mickey ears, and a cute shirt

I have gone as Flo from Progressive. I won best costume for that. My hair at the time was dark and long so it was easy to mimic.
I have dressed up as a genie, cat, witch, color guard member, and Marge.

Our daughter is having a Halloween/birthday party for me that is "costume required"! We are going as an Amish couple. Since we live near a large Amish community and my husband delivers to many of their farms and businesses, we thought it would be fun!

I have about 20 years of costumes in a big tub to choose from. It would depend on the weather.

A Ladibug of course. I was dressed as a momma ladibug and dressed my doll as babibug in a stroller who was carrying a ladibug toy. I think that was one of my favorites. I just walked around the neighborhood all by myself, no kids or grand kids, just me handing out candy.
but I have been a bat, a spider, a sexy bovine, a Christmas tree, a skunk, Nefertiti, a Christmas gift, an M&M (the green one) there are

Probably a shirt that says this is my costume. I love Halloween, but don't care about dressing up myself.

I love Halloween, shocking I know, but I hate dressing up. I just don’t like people looking at me, but if I had the nerve I would love to dress up as Mrs. Lovett from Sweeney Todd, I would make my husband dress up too and we would select the scene from the movie version where she is imagining them on the beach.

The last time we dressed up, ds was puss-in-boots, so dh and I went as puss-in-boots parents. I made loads of couple costumes over the years. I really liked the genie ones.

I really want a satyr costume. Something about the goat feet gets me every time. One of these days, I am going to make myself one.

We love to go all out.
We’ve gone as McGonagall & Snape from Harry Potter, Lara Croft & Indiana Jones (when I was way thinner lol) Rhett & Scarlett, and last year we went as Penelope and Rossi from Criminal Minds.
I’m not sure this year - we may reuse Snape & McGonogall....

I love dressing up. I have a 1920’s costume from when DH and I went to an immersive production of The Great Gatsby so that would be my go-to for an indoor adult party. I’m dressing up as a witch for Halloween this year to give out candy.

I would use what I already have. Pink 50's Poodle skirt, black short sleeved t-shirt. black keds, black cuff socks. Neck scarf.
Edited to add: I also have the Pink ladies jacket. That could be pair with leggings.

We went to one this past summer. I was the UTZ potato chip girl and my DH was Natty Boh from the beer. A very Maryland costume! Lol

I have sensory issues with clothing, so I loathe most costumes. If I was going to a costume party, I would do that thing (can't remember what it's called) where you mimic a Disney character but with regular clothing. Nothing better than a costume made out of your normal comfortable clothes at a party. An elaborate costume where I can't move normally all evening is my idea of hell, and I am impressed by people who can commit to crazy costumes.

I have two Regency gowns for totally normal reasons, so I would go as Jane Austen. Because I’m totally normal.

I wanna see PIKS of everyones' costumes !!!! I LOVE threads about costumes, and REALLY love it when people create their own unique/ weird/ funny ones. Let us know what you decide, and if you'd like to, it'd be even better with PIKS! pancakes .....your peanut butter and jelly costumes are very cute! This was us last year----I got just the doggies "hooman" (human) childrens' teeshirts, then made and sewed the tutu onto her teeshirt. I didn't want to buy a tee for DH just for Halloween (that he'd never wear again), so I cut the Batman symbol from yellow cardstock.

We had an 80s party at work a couple of months ago. My friend and I went as Slash and Axl Rose (I was Axl). We ended up winning. I’d do that again since it was pretty easy and comfortable.
