I work until 2 today and then my SO is coming into town. Tomorrow, we plan on either going to a fall festival or a Christmas one. We might then do a Meetup event for the Steeler game late tomorrow night.
It's supposed to be rainy/cool today but I think the rain percentages have gone down a bit so far. I'm not sure what to expect at work as far as how busy it will be. Rain could keep people away or make them more in the mood for some fall goodies.
What are you up to and what's the weather like?

Last night my car club drove the queen and her court in the high school homecoming parade. I had the sweetest little freshman with me. It was my first time doing a homecoming parade and I can't wait until next Friday when we do it again for another high school, I had the best time.
Today the club, in conjunction with the Lions Club, is doing an event called Code Purple. We'll be at a local Chevy dealership collecting winter wear for the homeless.
Tomorrow I plan on watching football all day and playing with some new card making supplies I just got. I just bought the Gemini Jr die cutting machine and can't wait to try it out and start my Christmas cards.

First, I'm going down to the post office to have a little chat about why an envelope package from Amazon was delivered yesterday totally opened, (e.g. not damaged in delivery) and why the mail carrier walked all the way to my back door with mail in his arms, yet didn't deliver a package I was expecting. I was sitting on my sofa folding clothes, watched him approach, and not knock (so just assumed he left it at the back door) and then I found one of those little post office slips in with my mail in the mailbox, with no explanation checked about why it wasn't left. It's not valuable, so no sig required.
Then I'm walking the dog and then on to the gym.
Then we're going to my friend's 50th birthday party at a local brewpub.

Laundry, write a couple notes, look at house plans (sister is building), maybe make some chili, workout and watch the Nebraska game.

Fall is here (at least for the weekend) in Houston! 55 right now, high of 72, and sunny today. BFF and I are going to try to find some outdoor markety stuff to do, preferably with fried food on a stick. It's a long weekend for me (with Monday being a federal holiday), so I'm hoping to do more than just sit around the house doing nothing (although I don't get to do that often). Next weekend is a long one as well (flex Friday) and the airshow is then. XBF will be in town for it (along with part of his stuff - he's moving back here from southern MO the end of the year) so I imagine a NASA tour and airshow are on next weekend's agenda. I hope the forecast for next weekend changes for the better as it's supposed to rain.

Weaning calves. So we will have to bring them all up, sort, then put the calves in the barn.

it's Thanksgiving here in Canada so. it's a long weekend. Since my husband and I separated last year I find long weekends excruciatingly difficult. And this one more so because neither of my kids are around. But, I'm having Thanksgiving dinner at my sister's tonight and at a friend's tomorrow night.
Monday morning my husband and I are getting together at McDonald's for breakfast ( I don't think anything else is open on Thanksgiving day! ) because I think there's a few things we need to hash out. I don't expect it will be the most pleasant of conversations. We're still very much in limbo because he can't decide what he wants. It's been the hardest 15 months of my life.
But, on the plus side of trying to be thankful I am grateful for my mother and my sisters and the new church I've recently discovered and for the wonderful female friends I have both near and far.

This morning I am on an ironing marathon. I am tired of getting ready to go out and have to iron a shirt. So I pulled everything out of my closet that requires ironing and an going at it. Of course, taking breaks here and there. After that is done, I am going to work on a prayer quilt for my niece. Have it cut out, need to make each square then decide on placement.

Lets see...last night we had drinks + dinner with friends. We went to a new Italian restaurant and it was sooo good. Today, DS1 is coming home to get his fall/winter clothes to move them to his apartment. Things have been tense with him since August so I am hoping for a good visit. II swear its one step forward, two back with him sometimes.
I am also making him some freezer meals to take back with him. Oh, and some breakfast burritos.
Tomorrow is church and then I am hoping to have some time to scrapbook.

Laundry, dishes, etc. My 90 year old father-in-law gave me three boxes of old family photos so I've been going through them. One of the biggest treasures I've found so far was my husband's great-grandfather's last will and testament from 1928. He made it before he went back to his native Finland where he died. We have no idea when he died though! Some of the additional papers with the will are in Finnish.

Finished grocery shopping. Starting to make the pies - apple, blueberry, peach, cherry & pumpkin so the we have sufficient dessert for our Thanksgiving dinner. Prime rib roast, mashed potatoes, caesar salad, roasted carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, lots of gravy and fluffy rolls & butter.
Purchased a bottle of Baco Noir (Old Vines) by Henry of Pelham. Kids get Peach punch.
Today I am also going to clean and get things ready.
Monday will be off to the many craft festivals in the area.

I went out for breakfast alone and now I’m trying to get my kitchen whipped into shape, also doing the laundry. It’s been a tough few weeks and I’m behind on some things.

Fall has finally arrived and our temperatures have dropped! I'm heading out on a bike ride through the country and farm lands in a bit. I love riding by all the beautiful cotton fields. Later I'm going to do a little cleaning around the house and will probably watch Netflix tonight. I started watching Call the Midwife earlier this week and I really like it. Tomorrow I'll probably go out on my gravel bike.

It’s chilly here so far today, 45, but it was about 10 degrees colder this morning.
So far today I’ve gone to the eye doctor to have my new glasses adjusted. Taking DBF to his chiropractor later for his issues. Then the rest of the day should be spent in my scrapbook room prepping for next weekend’s retreat/crop. There will likely be Netflix or Hulu playing in the background.

Yesterday (Friday) started my first day of vacation. So, I started out the day shopping for food I needed for an outing at a local winery planned for later that evening. After I shopped I enjoyed a bagel and a drink on the patio of the bagel place. Then I came home and relaxed for a bit and watched The Hate U Give (great storytelling and wonderful performance by the lead—I felt she embodied the character in the book). Then I headed out to pick up my college sophomore who will be home for four whole days for fall break. After that we (me, dd, dd and ds’ bf) headed to the winery where we met my husband. We had a really lovely spread of food—a cheeseboard with cheese, fruits, and cured meats, hummus with pita chips and veggies and pita chips, relish tray, baguettes, crackers and chocolate. Yeah, went a bit overboard but we were celebrating our 26th anniversary a few days early (dh will be out of town on the actual date). Weather was perfect and we had such a nice time. Then we all came home and watched a spooky movie, but most of us fell asleep. Today the kids went out to an orchard for apple picking. I wanted to go but still recovering from my fractured knee and the uneven ground might have been a problem. Plus it’s nice for them to just have some sans parents time. Looking forward to baking something with the apples they pick today. When they get back, we’re all going to do some thrift store shopping and then pizza for dinner tonight. Not sure what else we’ll do for the rest of the weekend. I know my dd wants to have time tomorrow with her two besties which may end up with a sleepover at our house. I think she’s hoping one thing they’ll do is carve pumpkins. Just gonna try to wring out all the fun I can with the four days she’s here.

Paperwork. I need to fill out 16 pages. I have one of my scrapbook albums with divided sheet protectors out and I've been slowly adding things to it throughout the day. Oh well, I actually got out of the house twice this week.

My stepson is getting married today. I have not seen my stepchildren since the day of my husband’s funeral 5 years ago. I was invited to the wedding and my stepson wrote me a lovely note encouraging me to attend. When my husband passed away, I was not home. I found him after. I think the kids, in their grief, blamed me somehow. I am nervous but hope things go well.

Had a lot of plans, but as I was brushing my teeth my back decided to crap out on me. I was diagnosed earlier this year with some bulging discs. Guess they are flaring up. The ortho walk-in clinic no longer has Sat. hours. Went to Promptcare and they were going to give me a shot of toradol and some steroids. Then they said no to the toradol because of past kidney issues. so I’m out $100 to tell me to take some prednisone that cost $2 and to rest.
My house is a pit and I’m trying to get us ready for our trip to WDW in three weeks.

Last night I went to my 16 yr. old's high school football game (she is on Poms and they perform with marching band). Then rushed over to my college daughter's Midnight Madness event. She is on the dance team. Wiz Khalifa gave a free concert at the event! And some pro football players from the local team attended. Great time!

NOTHING! Absolutely nothing! lol My dh left for two weeks (Philippines, and then hopefully Japan if the typhoon behaves). I do not have to work on Monday. Today I left my comfy chair only to walk the dog and hunt up something to eat. I finished a book and started a new one, I watched the news, I played my online game, I watched Netflix. The only chore I'll do is the dishes before I go to bed (no dishwasher) because I hate waking up to dishes in the sink. The weather is gorgeous and I've had the doors and windows opened all day. The doors are shut now and locked because it's dark and...welll... "Criminal Minds"... I'll be switching to something else less scary on Netflix until the sun comes up. Tomorrow I'll walk dogs with a neighbor (we go out every Sunday morning), then I'll go to church, then swing by the library to pick up a book that I had a hold on. Then I'll come home, change, and sit back down in my comfy chair. Then I'll read, maybe watch the news (although maybe I won't mess up my Sunday with that), play my online game, watch Netflix, walk my dog again.... Monday....maybe I'll just repeat all of the above.
