yeah; he didn't know about the delay till after he had his spot along the tracks staked out, and he started talking to a couple other people. Train watchers- who knew they were a thing? lol. I told him he should go to Tucson tomorrow to see it while it's on display. Then we can drive down on Saturday to see it leave. Not sure if he will or not, but I think he should- it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Did he go see it?

Not sure if he will or not, but I think he should- it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience! Did he go see it? he did; thanks for asking!! He had a good time; he got into the train yard to park as soon as they let cars inside, spent a couple hours hanging around, talking to train buffs, and taking photos. He didn't buy any merch (the lines were long) or tour the passenger car (the photo he took of the line for THAT was insanely long!), but he had a good time. He got lucky, too-- on Saturday we ran into a guy who said the line of cars to get into the railyard, even at 9 am on Friday, was so long that he didn't even bother waiting. On Saturday we left the house at 4:30 am to head to Tucson to see it leave-- we wanted to make sure we were there in PLENTY of time. And we were, because it didn't end up actually leaving the railyard until almost 9 am! He got video of it, and I got photos of it from the other side of the tracks. I can see why you guys 'chased' it for a while so you could see it go by more than once- it was HUGE!!! And LOUD!!! They blew the whistle JUST as it was passing me- it scared the CRAP out of me, lol!! But it was really cool. (and I don't even KNOW anything about trains- just the sheer size and scope of the thing, and the restoration project- is really neat.)
