Good morning! Had a great massage last night and slept like a baby! Eating breakfast now and looking forward to getting lots of pages completed Finished 7 yesterday. KelleeM, I loved reading your update about Dick's sense of humor. He reminded me of my dad. ♥️

Dinner here tonight will be mushroom risotto with grilled chicken breasts. DH arrived home from 10 days in Mexico and the US, and requested something ‘not too spicy’ as something he ate while away has upset his system.

Good morning! I have got two loads of laundry done, a clean kitchen, and my kitchen, living room, and dining room all decorated for Halloween. I am off to clean the bathroom and then decorate it nice and bloody. Halloween makes me happy, as does the candy!!
I will be making macaroni and cheese for dinner today. Jeremy has requested I add bacon so I will. He is at the grocery store right now.
I might go out to the Halloween store today too. But that's my only plan.

Hello my Tribal Goddesses! leannec I love your meme! Enjoy your day! KelleeM Your husband Dick sounds like a terrific guy. I always loved reading about your dinners that he created. And I responded to both of your threads. Yesterday, someone here mentioned your blue dress story which I have never forgotten. NO COOKING GOING ON HERE! Today DH and I are celebrating our 28-year Anniversary. We are taking the boys out to dinner. Except for my doctor appointment; I have not left the house. So I hope that it goes well. My shoulders are aching from using the crutches and walker.

Having a quiet day today, maybe will do some Halloween decorating. Definitely doing laundry and maybe get back to going through my closet.
Found some bacon and chicken thighs in the freezer yesterday, so tonight dinner will be Coq au Chardonnay aka chicken in creamy white wine sauce.

destined2bmom , Happy Anniversary. Enjoy your celebration. jeremysgirl that's such a fun table and so well done. I was just thinking about our dinner thread and I realized that we'll never hear about Chinese pie, again. Thinking of all of KelleeM 's Chinese Pie posts made me smile. You are very loved, KelleeM . Dick sounds like a really fun guy. He was a crackup. Thank you for helping us get to know Dick. I'm so glad that you're close w/his family. You'll all get through this together. BTW-when my mother was dying there was so much weird and stressful stuff that w/o our senses of humor we never would have lasted. We laughed so hard at times, because we needed to. Every week we'd get the news that mom my was going to die that week. One week my bil was leaving the house to run to the store. He returned w/a 6 pack of Boost. He then told us that he bought her a lifetime supply. We laughed so hard that day. Sounds like Dick would want you to keep laughing. teddyw , I read the rest of your posts from yesterday. It's very difficult to care for a dementia patient. As a nurse, you know that. My fil had dementia and at a certain point we just had to place him in a good memory care facility. It was kindest for everyone. It just sucks. leannec , take the week to nurture yourself. I vote for some fun plans this week. What do you think? What can you do that will bring you happiness? Dh and I are going to a magic show tonight. I used to do magic growing up and we're both fans of prestadigitation. A couple years ago, dh and the boys took me to a magic shop and made me buy some tricks. I had almost everything in the store and it's in boxes. So, dh made me get a couple card tricks. When I was in that shop it felt like home. So many good memories came flooding back. Another magic show will inspire me to pull out the cards and practice. I'm very very rusty. Dinner will either be takeout or I'll make chicken sandwiches. It's up to Ods and dh.

destined2bmom ---- Awww, Happy 28th to you and Mr. Destined !!! Hope your dinner out is lovely, and I STILL don't know how anyone could survive this long on crutches!!!!!! I am off to clean the bathroom and then decorate it nice and bloody I LOVE Halloween, and decorating for it! LOVE the pik of your fun table decors!!! When I read "bathroom" and "bloody" in the same sentence, my mind went to something I won't share here, but I think you know what I mean My bestie and her fun sister came over the other day and we had originally planned for them to decorate for me, but we got too carried away chatting and giggling and forgot. But, since my arm is WAY better now, I can actually do most of it myself! I was just thinking about our dinner thread and I realized that we'll never hear about Chinese pie, again. Thinking of all of Meelleek 's Chinese Pie posts made me smile. You are very loved, Meelleek . Dick sounds like a really fun guy. He was a crackup. Thank you for helping us get to know Dick. Yasss, I LOVED the posts about Chinese Pie !!!!!!!!! Since you mentioned it, maven, I think it'd be fun if we all made our own version of it in honor of Dick's memory! Post piks to make Kellee laugh, maybe? leannec ....Gurrrrl, you already know we're thinking of/ praying / sending you (( hugs!!)))) If I lived near you, I'd come over with allllll kiinds of yummy snacks, movies, and/or open ears and a shoulder for you to cry on. Ugh, I have seen way too many people that I love go through divorce.....it's so sad....I'm so sorry! teddyw .....Ummm, I just read your explanation on yesterday's thread, annnnddd....WOW! (((hugs)) to you and your other sister !!!!!! Oh, did I mention that DH and I are getting ready to go to Paris and London, too? LOL Leanne....you asked for GOOD news. YES, I have some! I am soooo excited to be going OUT OF THE HOUSE today with DH and Dad to get him a flu shot, and then we're going grocery shopping and maybe to an earrrrly dinner before the huge, Saturday night dinner crowds. We were supposed to go out for din last night, but...ugh....tooo much other crap going on. I was very stresssed yesterday evening, telling DH that I wanted to risk driving and go DO somethingggg, anything---just to get OUT of the house and the Hell with my stupid broken hum erus (which is NOT hum orous!). I only said that out of ANGER, I wouldn't REALLY try to drive!

We are having pot roast tonight. It's in the oven now. PSA, make sure the oven rack is in the right place before you attempt to put your heavy cast iron pot filled with food in the oven.
I was thinking of Chinese pie the other day also.

scrapmaven.....Have fun at the show tonight! Who knew we had a magician in our tribe? Are you a fan of Penn and Teller and/or David Copperfield? How about that guy (Chris ____ ?) from Vegas with the cool hair? He had a TV show for a while, something like "Mind Bender"..... ? I used to do magic growing up and we're both fans of prestadigitationI LOVE learning new words, and had to google: The secret to performing magic tricks is all in the hands-or at least, that's what is suggested by the etymologies of prestidigitation and its two synonyms legerdemain and sleight of hand. The French word preste (from Italian presto) means "quick" or "nimble," and the Latin word digitus means "finger."
Actually, I learned TWO new words today....I knew what "sleight of hand" meant, but never heard of "legerdemain" or "prestadigitation".

Sending good thoughts and hugs to our ladies in need, and a Happy Anniversary to destined2bmom. Love your decorations jeremysgirl! Granddaughter has a photo shoot and her DH has to work, so the great grands are here for the weekend. Yay! They, however are pickier than the rest of the crew so not a clue what they'll be eating. The 'restaurant' will be open but DH and I will be dining on rechauffe enchiladas.

Good news: We had 1000's of dust bunnies, spider webs, cricket stuff, and normal dust in our woodsy home AND NOW THEY ARE GONE (likely to return soon). Five weeks away brought them and five hours got rid of them. We are having grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. Broccoli and sweet potatoes. I'm about to make a foldover apple pie. Take one crust, roll it out, and fold it over the apple filling. Easy peasy. Thanks for the thread. Keep moving forward like you seem to be doing, leannec .

I made a pot of broccoli and cheese soup, but it's not for dinner. I grill out some hamburgers (with buns this time) for DH and make myself a smoothie.
For those who have exciting celebrations, magic shows, and a night out...have fun!
KelleeM, I read Dick's obit and I was smiling through my tears. It was a great tribute and gives me a good idea about what a wonderful man he was. He will be missed by many. Take care of yourself in the coming days.

Thanks everyone ♥️
We’re having pastrami sandwiches on rolls with sour cream and onion potato chips and pickles on the side. Dd is shopping for and cooking the food.
I spent a few hours running errands and came home to a visit from a sister-in-law bearing flowers and a grocery store gift card, a flower delivery from my sister and a visit from my son.
I stopped at our favorite little restaurant we always went to and ordered several pizzas and a huge tray of salad to be delivered, with a card, to the ICU staff from our family. I cried in the restaurant and then the cashier asked who my husband was...she came around and hugged me and told me that they had all heard yesterday and were devastated. Everyone loved Dick. I hope the staff is enjoying their meal. ♥️

We are in Montana for the weekend and the Walmart here carries an unbelievable array of spice mixes!?!
So we are having butter chicken and zucchini pancakes, With rice because I am going to make stuffed peppers
It is really nice to be here and not be tossing shit out.
Thread stealing: This place has clean up so nice that I am now wanting to pull it off the market and keep it for a vacation home. I can see turning it to a hunting camp type compound. Fees from that would pay the taxes and fees for a year, But brother left it to my husband and the other 2 brothers and they want “their” money, NOW! ( so much so that they want to force my husband into accepting whatever offer comes in. )

Happy anniversary destined2bmom , I hope you have a lovely dinner. I expect a course by course update on tomorrow's thread - bonus points for photos. KelleeM , I have been thinking about you and Dick, and you were my first thought as I woke this morning. Continued hugs to you. I was home by myself last night, and I decided to make something I haven't made in years, because no-one likes it as much as I do - Greek Potato and Feta Salad. I used heaps of fresh herbs from my garden, that MIL bought me for my birthday. The rest of the family don't really like this potato salad because it has anchovies, capers, olives, dill and feta - ingredients which range from "meh" to "F#$% no!" on their taste scale. I also cooked up a Greek-style lamb backstrap to go with it. Boris had leftover chicken schnitzel.

The Boy and I are having Chili this evening.
I really need to find some new things to make. In a serious rut. The problem is I love chili and it is super easy to make. After a long day of doing whatever, I don't want to think about what I am making. Meal planning is not a priority at present either, because I am struggling just trying to keep after the house. Struggling with the exhaustion from the Fibromyalgia and getting horribly frustrated with the limitations. DH & the Boy are sharing in the work load too. *sigh*

For some reason known only to my son, I am “babysitting” the 10yo tonight (also did last Saturday night). I never mind having him here, but I do have him five days a week already. My son, as always, is clueless. We will have words. When the 10yo isn’t around. Anyway, I’m making pork fried rice for dinner. If he weren’t here, it probably would have been cheese and crackers. Happy anniversary and I hope you can enjoy your night out pain-free, destined2bmom. Really cute Halloween decorations, jeremysgirl. So good to hear from you, KelleeM. I am off to find Dick’s obit online. Also, I’m hoping that once things settle down, you will post the recipe for Chinese pie for us. I too have been thinking about all the funny Chinese pie posts. I’d like to try making it sometime, in memory of Dick.
