Anyone else cut their paper scraps into more managable pieces or do you keep them all?
I cut my scraps into 8 1/2 x 11 6x6 4x6 3x5
and keep the smaller bits of some of my favorites (or long strips of my favorites)
Happily watching a movie and trimming my scraps today. Nice and mindless.

my mind doesn't work that way when I'm scrapping, so no, I don't do it like that. I tried that once, and it made me no more likely to use a piece of patterned paper than NOT doing it like that. The only trimming I do on scraps is: on scraps that I've used with a punch or die, I'll trim off the 'awkward' bits that are left around the outside of the open space. You know, the odd curved bits that might get caught on another piece of paper... Other than that, I leave my scraps the way they are.
So I keep scraps pretty much like they are except for that little bit of trimming, and I store them all in one 12x12 Iris container. If the scraps are smaller than about 2x4 inch, they get thrown in the garbage immediately; no keeping it because I might be able to punch ONE butterfly out of it someday, for example- if I was going to punch shapes out of it, I know I'd want more than one, so anything too small for at least a few punches gets tossed right away.

Depends.
Sometimes I do trim them down to 4x6 or 3x4 Other times I just keep my scraps. I guess it just depends on what I think I might do with them. I currently have a ton of 4x12 strips & 8x4 strips from cutting paper to 8x8 for a project. I’ve used some of those as pocket card and some in my self reflection TN so I don’t cut those til I need them.
But every so often I’ll just chop them down

Not exactly trimming scraps, but whenever i feel i have too many scraps, i go through the bags and make journaling spots from the light colored papers by rubber stamping on them, then cut them out and put them with my journal spots in a bag.
I usually toss the smallest bits that i don't love anymore.

I do cut my papers down to 8.5x11 though as I never scrap 12x12 just 8.5x11 or 8x8 - so I have lots of scraps from that process

I cut down anything that won't fit into an 8.5 x 11" page protector, so that's generally just 12" square pages with a smaller square or rectangle cut from them, leaving an "L" shape. That I'll trim down. Once I've got everything letter size or smaller, it goes into my scraps folder/binder, sorted by colour.
I see no need to further trim down papers since I don't know exactly what shape or size I'll want in the future.

I don't do anything to my scraps. I keep them as they are. Cutting them down to those shapes would make them harder for me to use. I'm drawn to strips more than smaller rectangles or squares.

I would never keep up with that system. I'm lazy. I have gallon bags I throw scraps into. It's based on how often would I use this color? I have some tiny manual dies and punches. When the bag gets stuffed, I dump out the scraps and throw some away.

I don’t mess around with scraps much anymore.
If it’s a large enough scrap (size varies on how I’m feeling that day and how much I love the paper) it gets sorted by color.
Otherwise, boom. Recycled.

I trimmed scraps like that once and it made the papers feel like new paper again. This did nothing for my hoarding/don't cut into new paper thing I was going through at the time. I used some and probably ended up donating most of them to something. After that debacle, I just kept papers what I think I might use again and would cull them as I dug through the container. A while back, I moved them from a relatively small container to a drawer so they are out of hand again.

I do this too. I will make kits and play with them all for a little while but once I’m really done I throw them out. If it’s like 9”x12” size I might just stick it back with my patterned paper.

If the piece is smaller than 5x7, I put it in my recycling can. *I have 2 trash cans in my scrap nook. 1 for trash and 1 for stuff that can be recycled*
I just leave my scraps whole until I use them because I don't know how it will be used.
After a certain amount of time, if it hasn't been used, I put it in the recycling trash can.

i trim off overly jagged edges. they get bent anyway so i just trim them off. if i get a rough square or round piece of scrap piece, i'm happy.

I put mine in 2 gal ziplocks by color family and then store them in a 12 x 12 Iris storage. The patterned papers go in a separate Iris container. I tend to like strips, too. I do try to go to scraps first before cutting a new piece of cardstock/paper.

I don't trim my scraps, but if I did I would want to cut them to a larger size than my photos so I could use them behind the photos.
But if I was a pocket scrapper, the standard sizes would make a lot of sense. OP, how do you use your scraps?

I keep scraps as is if it’s larger than 6-7”x12”, it says with its color family or collection. Smaller it goes in a drawer, sorted by patterned or color. I do check there when working on layouts if I need a smaller/layering piece or if I want to punch something out.

I trim them to A2 size. Anything smaller is tossed.

I cut the jagged edges & toss them in hanging file folders that are in one drawer of one of my scrap desks. The folders are labeled & organized by color. I use scraps alot for Cricut cuts, so I always look there first.

I do much like patin, but my scraps go into a tub on my counter top. I have been pinning a bunch of pages like THIS ONE lately that use punched or diecut scraps.

I have a legal size vertical file box that I store my scraps in. I have labeled each file with a colour. It sits right under my work desk and if I am die cutting something I pull it out first.
I use my scraps I only cut it to fit in my file box. But that is rarely considering the size.
Unless it's specialty paper like glitter or foil anything smaller than 3*3 is pretty much tossed

I had years and years of scraps and finally decided to cut them down to 5x7 size so they would fit into my Vagabond. I sorted them into colors and put them into photos boxes by color. Use them all the time.

I primarily have all my scrapbook papers in kit bags, so the scraps just get out back in the bag with the rest of their family when done. Since I trim my cardstock down (I scrap 9x12 or 8.5x11) I keep the cardstock scraps from that for my cameo to use for titles and such. When things are too small to use they get recycled.
