That was quite the first inning! My team isn't in but I do love baseball. I am hoping it is the Nats v. Astros in the finals

I'm hoping for a Nats Astros series. Crazy 1st inning!

Husband is a lifelong Rangers fan, the old ballpark was a bike ride away so they’d go a lot. But Houston is a bit closer to us and we go more often, so we’ve been to a handful of games over the past couple of years so I’ve started cheering on the Astros. We were at Game 2 of the last series where Cole set his strike record, that was pretty amazing to watch.

YES!!!!! Fingers crossed over here.
I miss getting to see the Nats play in person. Always such a good time. It’s not the same with the Cubs. 👎

Yay!! Thanks for starting this thread, elaine ! I was hoping someone would!! I went to the Nats watch party at Nationals Park for game 5 of the division series where they closed out the Dodgers, and have even brought DD on board as a bandwagon fan (she's never been into baseball at all). DH and I are having fun boring her with statistics and stories and such, LOL! Tonight she was like - yay, 10 days till I have to watch baseball again, LOL...but she admits she's enjoying it. Going to be a fun series, and I hope it'll be against the Astros! ETA: Nice picture of your family, elaine!

I had a couple of friends at last night’s game - a great time was had by all. It was a perfect night for a ballgame. I love how much fun the team seems to be having this year. It is definitely a different vibe amongst them and fun to watch. It is a great time to bring your daughter into the fold. And who doesn’t love Baby Shark as a walk-up song? We love Nats park - the only downside is that since they added a Shake Shack, we have to pick between eating from there or from Ben’s Chili Bowl. 🤣

So I guess they traded him, so I bet he is happier now! They even had an article in the paper about Pirates fans not wanting to watch because some of their former players are in the playoffs.

As soon as the game ended last night my DH was online buying he and DS2 Nats World Series gear. Everyone was so wound up, even our dogs were celebrating!

If they have the money maybe they’ll get him back. He’s a free agent after this season. What’s funny is that he grew up a huge Yankees fan, and there’s a photo of him at the 2001 (IIRC) World Series pulling for the NYY going around.

Patrick Corbin went to high school 2 towns over from us and played against our team a few times.
We'll definitely be rooting for the Nats!

I'm an Orioles fan, but it's fun to be cheering on the Nats! My boss ditched me last night because he snagged tickets. Hard to begrudge him that joy.

I grew up going to Dodgers games (it is the prettiest stadium, imo, with all the palm trees ringing it), so it was a bittersweet win. The Dodgers had a great season.

My husband is from STL and is a diehard Cardinals fan. I, on the other hand, am a diehard Astros fan. I want the Cardinals in for his sake, but I really wouldn't want a Cardinals-Astros series! We've been married quite a while and I'd like it to continue! (Things were bad enough when they were in the same league and playing each other for the league championship...)

If the Astros still have that racist player, I want the Nats to win. Beyond that, I have not been paying attention.

I'm a lapsed baseball fan, haven't paid much attention since the Tigers 1984 team.
I was all confused when I heard on the radio that the Astros next opponent in the playoffs was going to be the Yankees when I had just heard that the Cardinals were still playing.
Had no idea that Houston is now in the AL.

Usually I would have known but I went to bed early last night and I've been immersed in field trip chaperone mode today. (Well, and then I got home and have been Facebooking and Pea-ing and everything known to avoid anything constructive or truly educational.) Go, 'stros! And I'll still love all you Nationals fans even when we win.

My Cardinals might as well have just laid down on the field and taken a nap.

As a Dodgers fan, I'm slowly healing. They played well in the NLCS and good luck in the World Series.

elaine ......Love your family pik! My Dad and brother were beyond THRILLED to go to the first game the Nats played, and he might have said it was also in a new stadium ? (can't remember). My Dad and brother are SOOO excited about this, and since they couldn't be together this time, they texted each other furiously throughout that game the other night. I still remember them going to games wayyy back when the D.C. team was called "The Senators". Dad was telling us the last time they were in the World Series, he was two years old (in 1933) , soooo, yea---they are THRILLED! I'm not a sports watcher, BUT, I enjoy the excitement that my family and friends get from games. Growing up and even now, I find it entertaining to hear my DH, brother, Dad and/or friends yelling (whether mad OR happy) while watching.

We keep noticing similarities between the Nationals' season this year and the Capitals' season in 2017-2018 when they won the Cup - the adversities they faced, being way down in the standings early in the season, people questioning the coach/manager, & especially how much fun they are having playing together. The team spirit and comraderie (sp?) is great to watch and makes them fun to watch as a fan, much like elaine said. And yes, the watch party was a blast, elaine! I love Nationals Park. We try different food places almost every time we go.

A number of women on my bowling league made it to the series vs. St Louis and it was all the talk at bowling this morning. Everyone is excited about the World Series. My team captain’s husband got a pair of tickets from his work to go to the first home game of the World Series. They are looking for tickets for their college-aged sons, but tickets that involve actual seats (not standing) are starting at $2K! I think in the end it will just be her and her Dh who go. The camaraderie around cheering the team on is something special. I still very fondly remember my father calling his brother while watching football and basketball games while growing up - “Did you see that? Did you see that?”
