Dd 10 slept out this weekend and the next day developed small itchy bites on her feet. Today she woke up with them on her fingers too. Her friend has a new-ish (July) puppy. I thought maybe they were flea bites. Do dogs still get fleas? When I grew up we had a cat and battled fleas until new meds were able to stop the problem for us. I haven’t had a pet in 20 years but I kind of thought every cat or dog could be flea free if my cat could be flea free 30 years ago.
And I thought if they were bed bugs she’d have them on her neck and arms and legs. But they’re isolated to her feet and fingers.

If she slept outdoors, they could be bites from no-see-ems or gnats.
But the fact that she only has them on her hands and feet makes me think of scabies. Little kids are big carriers of it. I had them when I was a nanny. I can remember it itched horribly!

What do you mean by slept out? Is that camping?
Or sleeping at a friend's house? (I call that a sleep over-I know it's probably a regional term)
I certainly think it could be fleas. They still exist. If she was camping, then I would think chiggers.

Are you sure they’re bites? Hand foot and mouth disease is a common childhood virus spread easily through daily contact. Hand, foot, and mouth disease g.co/kgs/WAmvYT

Bed bugs bite exposed skin so if she had long pants and a long sleeve top then she isn't likely to get bit there. I also in my experience have not seen them bite the neck too often. I have definitely seen fingers and toes. Sounds like you have several potential things that it could be. Hope it is an easy thing like chiggers or even fleas, making it an itchy nuisance and nothing more after a few days.

There wouldn’t be such a delayed reaction.

I meant she had a sleepover at a friend’s house. It’s def not hand foot and mouth. It’s a bug. My Dh is an md and when he finally looked he thought fleas too.

Pets can be flea free, but I suppose it would depend on the owner. Weird if only your kid got them though. We don't have fleas here and don't use any medication for our dogs. I know they are prevalent in other areas though.

I could understand flea bites on her feet/ankles while she was there. Flea bites on her fingers days after leaving the house - nope.
Eczema/dermatitis of some sort, if you don’t think hand/foot/mouth disease. Or maybe hives or another allergic reaction.
Otherwise, maybe spiders in your house? Fingers are a weird place to get bug bites unnoticed.

Isn’t your DH a pediatrician? That would be my go to for information regarding bites or rashes on my child.
