I get a notice every year since i registered to vote. I've never been selected to sit in the jury.
You don't age out of serving until 74 years here.

I’ve been called once about 30 years ago, I didn’t serve due to work commitments. DH has never been called.

Funny you should post this. I just received my 2nd jury summons in my life. Here (a pretty rural county) we serve for 2 months at a time so I will be serving from January through February of 2020. At 75, we can ask to be excused. The last time I was on jury duty, I had to call in for two weeks. Only once was I asked to show up. We were released when the defendant didn't show up.

I was called earlier this year but can't be called again now for two years. You don't have something like that where you live? I had not been called for 30 years prior to this year, and that was in SC. I was never, ever called in the 14 years I lived in TX, and now just called once here in NC. We have been here for 7 1/2 years.

I'm 67 and was called for JD last fall, the second time in my life. The first was over 20 years ago. These were both for the local county court, and both times I was not selected to serve. I was on call for 4 months in my jury pool, but only called in once during that time (they said you might be called twice) Never (crossing fingers) been called for Federal duty.
No aging out at 65 here, at least not for local. I think they said you could be called every 5 years. Dh has never been summoned.

I'm 58, and also in MA. I've gotten called just about every 3 years since I was in college here. Sadly, I'm always dismissed and have never served on a trial. I consider it my civic duty, and don't mind at all. I just bring a book and hang out for a few hours. They always know before noon whether they'll need you.

I've only been called once and that was enough for me. I sat on two juries that week, one rape and one child pornography (in which said pornography was played for the jury) during the week of Valentine's day in 2015. I did notice when they were questioning us to determine which folks would sit on the jury, they were dismissing anyone who'd served before and come up with a guilty verdict, so that might save me from ever having to serve again.
I'm thankful that my state has a rule that one can only be called once every 3 years.

Called once. was picked and served on a jury. Dh has been called once.
They aren't supposed to call you more than once every 2 years here and can be exempt after age 65. My dad was called a lot and he once got out of it since it had been less than 2 years.

Twice, I think. First time I called and was needed so I drove downtown, waited forever, they had enough people so I never got past the waiting area, collected my $5, paid my $5 for parking and was on my way Second time I had young child who was in special ed preschool. Apparently you have to be on call for like a month and there was no way I could arrange for a sitter to be on call that entire time plus the logistics of getting the kid from preschool (he couldn't afford to miss preschool, it was too important for his speech) in one city to grandma an hour away made it impossible so I had to ask to get out of it. They honored my request and I haven't been called since. I think it would be fun to serve and now that I could actually do it I won't get called. Btw, dh hasn't been called at all; we're both 43.

After reporting to jury duty in early 2018, this week I got a summons to jury duty next month. This is at least the tenth time I have been called since I registered to vote when I was 18. i take my responsibilities as a citizen seriously. I have voted in every national and state election since I registered. I have reported for every call to jury duty (a whole week when you must be available and call each day to see if you are needed after the first day, at the least). I’ve been called to city court, county court, circuit court and maybe others. I can’t remember. I am so damn tired of this. If there was a random chance to win the lottery, or even a door prize, rest assured I will NEVER be selected. But damn, I am tired of getting randomly selected for this. I can’t tell you how many people I talk to who say, “ Huh, I’ve never been called.” I have done my duty. I have lifted my weight. Over and over. It’s time for some of the other hundreds of thousands of citizens to do their duty. I. Am. Tired. Of. Being. Called. Thank you for letting me rant. I don’t have too much longer until I am 65, and therefore exempt. After last year’s summons, I thought surely I would be able to turn 65 without another call. F#ck no. And if I am called again in the early part of next year, I will still have to go, as I won’t yet be 65 and it will be a new calendar year. Enough.
I was called in a previous state. We moved to Michigan in 2014. I have been called 2x since living here. I guess I should change my drivers license to the new address in case the old address wants to call me again. We only check the mail when we go there and it's only every month or every other month now. My DH has never been called.

I live in PA. I got a notice for jury duty, but when I called the day before (you have to call at 5 the day before and see if your trial was cancelled) they settled the case. So I could get called again in 18 months. Then 18 months exactly, I got called again. So did everyone else that didn't have to show up 18 months earlier. This time I was picked. If you are picked, you won't get called for 3 yrs.

I've been called twice. The last time was the day before my hip surgery so they put me in for a postponement and haven't been called despite the fact they said I would. NOW here's the kicker. DD is a full time student in college in another state. She was called for 10/21. Um nope, not here, not bringing her home for this as well as she has the GRE's the next day. So I filled out the stupid form online and said she is a full time student and the name of the school. DD had to call and the woman said "nope, you have to be here". Um nope, again, not happening. DD was beside herself and I called and circumvented their main number and spoke to someone else who said that she should just request another date. Well, the dates don't go out far enough. So she overrode the system to make an exception. So DD put down the day before she has to go back to school during Christmas break (her break is only 3 weeks). It was the only time it worked for her. I get the whole civic duty and stuff but there are plenty of people in the county who live for doing this kind of stuff. There are also plenty who don't want to. The amount they pay doesn't even cover the cost of parking if you have to go in so it can become a financial hardship for some.
Dh got called twice. The second time he completely forgot about it and forgot to call in and see if he had to go in. Luckily, he wasn't called.
We age out at 70 here.

I'm 50 and have been called twice, most recently this past Spring. I wasn't seated on the jury due to a conflict with being employed by the same company as one of the witnesses. I do remember for my county that they said you wouldn't be called again by the county for at least 3 years.

I get called quite often. Most of the time we are on Standby where you have to call in the night before you are scheduled to go in to see if you have to go. I've often got into the court room but let go for various reasons. The last time I did serve I was on a child molesting case. It broke my heart to hear the boy describe what happened. Thankfully we only had one day of testimony and when we went in the next day the person pleaded guilty and were let go. It almost didn't seem right to make the boy talk about in front of everyone but I totally get it.

I've been summoned to jury duty a few times (local, state, and most recently federal level), but never had to serve. I only made it jury selection one time and they seated the jury and the alternates before they got to me. I have the time and think I would find the experience interesting... so of course, I'll never end up actually serving on a jury.

I was first called about 20 years ago and served on a federal jury. I was called again within a few years then nothing until about 7 years ago. I’m 57. I don’t know about aging out, I can remember my grandma getting a summons when she was in a nursing home in her late 70s.

I usually get called once a year. I didn't go the last time--it was just a month or so after my husband died, and I just wasn't up to it. I am over 65 by the way--and still getting called.
Eta: I've been on several juries. Always have found the party guilty. Am always asked if I was on a jury before, and what the verdict was!! And they still choose me. The last time I went in, the case I was going to be chosen for was really a sad case, and I was crying while being questioned. They asked me if I could be objective for the case, and I really thought I could, despite the tears. -The lawyer for the guy dismissed me. The prosecution wanted me!

I was "on call" last week. I did not have to go in. If you are on call you have to call in every night for a week. I've been summoned 5 times since we moved here (15 years ago) but only gone in once (and was on a jury). DH has been called once.
I tried to look up how it works and it's "random" from voter registration and driver's licenses (and id) cards. I could not find anything about how often you can be called. If you are 70+, or a student you can ask to be excused.
I will probably expect my next summons in 2-3 years... that seems to be the trend.

I have not been called since DH was active duty. I had to send in proof of him being stationed in a different state and since then, nothing. That was 17 years ago. Despite being registered to vote locally, I still have not been called.

I've been called four times since I moved to Connecticut in 1986. The first was in 1999 when DS was a newborn, so I was excused from appearing.
The second was about ten years ago, and eventually didn't have to appear because of weather.
The third was about five years ago, and I did report, spent the entire day being interviewed for four different cases, but was eventually dismissed.
The fourth was a federal court summons last year around this time. I believe I was dismissed because of my answer on the questionnaire to whether I had ever been the victim of a crime.

Between me and my husband, we get called ALL the time! And my husband gets picked for a jury EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. As soon as he gets the notice in the mail, I tell him "well, alert your boss that you'll be out, because you know you are getting picked!" And sure enough, he gets picked!

In 29 years I've only been summoned twice and only had to report once (earlier this year). I didn't realize there was an age-out for jury duty. Good to know. Here's hoping this will be the last time you're summoned before you age out.

I get called at least every other year. And I have been on too many trials to count. And despite actually working for the Jury Board at the time, I was seated on a capitol murder trial. Seriously, I knew all the Attorneys and the Judge and I felt it was a conflict, but couldn't get excused. Once I was called for both Federal and Circuit duty within a two week period. If I was called for Circuit (the first one) then I would be excused from Federal. I would of preferred to serve Federal just for the variety.
There is no magic in determining how many times you will be called. In my state, it draws from all drivers license and state ids, so basically everyone is eligible, although you can be excused at 70. And you can serve every year.
As long as I a physically able, I will accept this small inconvenience.

DH and I received at least a dozen summons between us after we bought our first house in WA, checked off "not a US Citizen" and sent them back every time.
Since becoming citizens, I've been called once and he's been called at least 5 times. DD had her first summons while in college and was able to defer it until after exams. Poor kid had to get to the big city by 7AM, pay downtown parking and convince them her employer wouldn't hold her job for up to 8 weeks before getting dismissed. When I was called at least I only had to commute 3 miles and had free parking.

That is a lot! I have been summoned twice and served both times (once as an alternate nonna civil case and once in a Grand jury). Grand jury is a significant commitment and if you serve you are exempt for a long time. However, we moved to a different state this year, so won't apply
