On the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, Ghana’s finance minister quipped, “Could you imagine if the president of Ghana did something like that? It would not go down well.” Like I have asked a million times (at least) since Trump became president--"Can you imagine if Obama had done that??" People would have lost their shit, declared it was proof he was the anti-Christ who would soon be implementing Marshall Law so he would never have to leave office and then, they would have impeached his ass. Invasion of Texas ?

this morning on MSNBC I heard an administration spokesperson say they looked at 12 different places in 10 different states, and the Doral was the best one they found. Yeah, right: 90+ F temps and 60%+ humidity?!? And a resort that the PRESIDENT OWNS?!?!? And that was the BEST you could find? Where else were you looking, if that was the BEST choice?!? give me a break. Camp David? A resort in the Adirondacks? ANYWHERE ELSE THAT THE PRESIDENT DOESN'T OWN, MAYBE?!?!? unfortunately, I also think I heard that the location is something the President gets to choose. So I'm not sure if there is any way it can be 'unchosen' ... but I sure hope so. And apparently it is during Hurricane season, as well. Sounds like the perfect choice for a gathering of world leaders. He can just send a nuclear weapon at the hurricane to see if it dissipates. 😜 what could go wrong there? 🤔

YaY! Bedbugs for everybody! Bedbugs at Doral"It was bedbugs, former guest Eric Linder alleged, that left him with “welts, lumps and marks over much of his face, neck, arms and torso,” following a stay at the Jack Nicklaus Villa, considered one of Doral’s most sumptuous rooms. The Trump Organization denied the claims, and the case was settled a year later, but the president on Tuesday blamed Democrats for spreading the “false and nasty rumor.”

It wouldn’t be ok for any level government employee to direct a contract to a personal/family business like this, they’d be fired and/or in jail; it is categorically not ok for the POTUS.
The GOP should be ashamed of themselves.

I don’t think it’s funny, I think it’s sad. But I do get what you mean. Jimmy Carter is too kind a man to mention it. But do any of y’all remember the Republicans getting cranky about ‘Billy beer’ profiting off being owned by the president brother? It’s not like jimmy served it at the White house regularly or anything. 🙄 I am not American so I don't think it is right for me to comment on your shit show but I couldn't resist that giggle.

When I get frustrated/angry/upset/overwhelmed, I often resort to inappropriate humor/laughter.

BREAKING NEWS............ (CNN)President Donald Trump on Saturday night abruptly reversed course and announced next year's G7 economic summit of world powers will not be held at Trump National in Doral, Florida, after facing bipartisan backlash. The President tweeted: "We will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020. We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately." In another tweet, Trump said, "I thought I was doing something very good for our Country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 Leaders." The White House had been defending its decision to use Trump's own property as the site for the G7 amid mounting criticism, with White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham telling CNN that the Doral site would be "significantly cheaper" than other options. The administration had argued the event would be run "at cost," or without profit, by the Trump National property because of the emoluments clause of the Constitution, which largely prohibits the President from accepting gifts and money from foreign governments. But it is not clear that simply avoiding a profit would keep the administration from running afoul of the emoluments clause. ** www.cnn.com/2019/10/19/politics/trump-property-no-longer-considered-for-g7-summit/index.html

We will begin the search for another site, including the possibility of Camp David, immediately." Begin the search? What happened to the shortlist of sites they had when it was awarded to Doral? I guess someone finally got through to him that no one was going to "get over it" and even the GOP couldn't defend picking his own resort this time.

The ONLY reason he retracted was because of the serious GOP push back from his close associates.

The ONLY reason he retracted was because of the serious GOP push back from his close associates. Which is how and why so much of what he says and does is followed by backpedaling etc. If what he says or does doesn't fly and could turn out to be a bad thing in the end for him (always about him) we are then told what he "really meant", it was a joke or just plain we are crazy for hearing what he actually said etc. He is so far over his skis it's ridiculous but he has been his whole life and just keeps plowing over and through people with little consequences. He's used to it, comfortable there by now. Hopefully lack of consequences and his comfort will come to an end. And not soon enough.

According to Mulvaney at his press briefing, the advance team visited 10 sites and had a shortlist of 4 (including Mar-a-Lago!) when the decision was made to award it to Doral. Twitter was fun lat night, speculating on the location of the resort that would require oxygen tanks for participants.
