Sorry, but I find this feature just plain vulgar, but those middle school age boys will love it.

Guilty as charged on lots of things, but fart..........um, no.
I'm so old that the word was not ever used in polite company and it still grates on my nerves to hear people casually toss the word around.

What a bizarre feature! I'm so old that the word was not ever used in polite company and it still grates on my nerves to hear people casually toss the word around. I'm old enough that when I was a kid my mum called farts "froggies" - in fact she still does! - and my friend's mum would call them "fluffs". To be honest, I get more annoyed by those silly cutesy names than the word fart.

My DH told me about this. Apparently they put this feature in because there is some ruling (European maybe?) that says that cars must make a minimum level of sound for safety reasons, so that people can hear them coming. Tesla's electric cars were too quiet for those standards, but they resented being told they had to make them noisier, and as the ruling didn't say what kind of noice the car had to make, they decided to be silly. I rather like that. They can always add sensible sound effects later if they have to.
ETA: my Mum called them windy-pops when my brother and I were tiny.

In Italy last week, we came across an electric taxi that had to make a beep beep beep noise so it can be heard.

In my house you aren't allowed to say the f-word, however, I'm a okay with Fuck being thrown about. When ds was little I would hear him tell his friends, Don't use the f-word in front of my mom! His friends would gasp and say none of us are allowed to use the f-word in front of our moms. Ds would then quietly whisper what the f-word was and loudly announce that I didn't care at all if they said fuck. The look on their faces was priceless.
My inner child is a 15year old boy, you would think I could handle that word.

Hybrids as well have a minimum sound they have to make. Because people wouldn’t hear them coming & step in front of them. My car hums. My sister said your car is humming. I’m like yeah because it’s not allowed to be silent & I’m not going fast enough for the engine to come on.

Sometimes I think I have the humor of a 12 year old boy. This is one of them.
