A midnight performance of Rocky Horror was the very first date my XH and I went on, in 1984. I didn’t know the film at all, and had no clue what was happening for most of it.

Yes. Lots of people dressed up, including me and my group. We had a lot of requests for photos. Loved it!

In high school in the early 80s, we used to go to the midnight screening a lot.
I've also seen it, with props, at the Hollywood Bowl. Ton o' fun.

I wanted to go in high school but mom wouldn't let me go to the midnight show.
Haven't really thought about it since but maybe I should go just to say I've done it.

There is a theater around here that shows it once a month with a rotating shadow cast. They do a costume contest and a virgin sacrifice before the show and it is raucous and fun.
Several years ago, we didn't want our teenagers to go to that part of town for a midnight showing, so a whole group got together and dressed up and went. We had a fantastic time and have great stories to tell (remember that time the police stopped us at 430 am on the way back from Rocky?) It was one of those great times where the kids weren't embarrassed to hang out with their parents.
Have gone back numerous times over the years, DD has won the costume contest and was asked if she wanted to be a part of the shadow cast, but she really can't being off at school.
Personally, I know some people don't get the whole allure of RHPS, but for anyone who is a little quirky, offbeat, dances to their own drum or is just trying to figure out where they fit in the world, it is a fun time with a powerful message.

Yes more times than I can count. I was part of a Rocky performance group in college. Usually just worked behind the scenes or played a tranee or Betty. One time I played Janet. Dh played Dr Scott and Brad a number of times.

Lots of times in HS. One of our local theaters still shows it every Saturday, they sell prop bags, not sure you are still allowed to take them in. I even wrote a paper about RHPS for my cultural anthropology class in college.

A college wanted to put it on WITHOUT PROPS! I don’t think that it ever got done.
A couple of the movies theaters tried it, again with out props. The managers could not understand why They didn’t get a filled room. ?? I heard that they actually search for props before they let people in.

No. I've seen bits of the film and thought it was absolutely awful.

Back in the day, the only way to see it was in the theater. In my hometown it was a regular weekend thing with midnight shows at a small independent theater. Costumes, props and active audience participation were part of the event. Great memories. This is me too. Except when I was a teen I lived in a small town so it was shown at midnight at the only theatre in town a few times a month in September and October. My friend who worked there hated it because it was such a mess to clean up. When I was in university there was a small independent theatre that showed it frequently. I bet I have seen it about 40 times. SO MUCH FUN!

This was me the first time I saw it, too. The second time through was much more fun. No. I've seen bits of the film and thought it was absolutely awful. I'm not sure I would have made it through the movie if my first time seeing it was on TV, or even in a theater, without the audience participation. That is really what makes the movie something fun and special.

Rocky horror is a terrible movie. That’s why it has such a cult following.

Yup! I’ve been many times and love it. I actually spent a summer at RIT performing in it and was able to meet Meatloaf. Now, I watch it at the Alamo in Charlottesville, Va

Just the midnight showing. I have wanted to do the one with props but am not sure if any theaters do them anymore in my area

Yes, literally over 100 times (I stopped counting after that) I use to be a performance cast member at our local theater for a time (many, many moons ago) - I was Columbia

My first and only time I saw it at a theater was a midnight showing on New Years Eve back in the early 80's. Never realized they did all the fun stuff until we went. A local theater near me was showing it once a month and I tried to talk my kids into going but they had no interest in it. Not sure if they ever show it now.

It was a regular “thing” back then and one theater had late-night showings every weekend. That's how it was for me in high school too. We went about once a month.

I haven't seen the movie in a theater, but a few years ago I went with a friend to a live performance. We dressed up and the whole bit. It was so much fun. And we got to meet the cast afterward because those were the only types of tickets left at the box office when we got there.

I caught the movie late one night when I couldn't sleep, and I didn't like it at all.

Yes, I saw it in a movie theatre back in the 1980's in Washington DC. This was back in the highlight of the film's day-people were all dressed up and I had no idea what to expect. I went with my youngest sister (who is also my best friend) who was still in college at the time. I love to sing and dance so we had a blast! I remember that night-we had such fun!

My daughter and a good friend of hers have gone to Knoxville the past couple years(the 2nd time was just this past weekend) and go in full costume.. The showing in Knoxville is at a theater so while the movie is playing there are characters on stage too, and it's full on with audience in costume and with all the comebacks and props and stuff .. They went last night to a local movie theater and it was a totally different thing, within the first 5 minutes they had a lady complain about their curse words *insert eye roll* I mean come on, it's a rated R movie! So from that point they felt like they had to filter theirselves, but closer to the end the friend of hers stopped caring as much. This small town of ours just isn't ready for such shenanigans I suppose.. A couple people have stated in a post that the "guy in the back was great" and that's her friend(she's married, btw just a childhood friend) he says if they do it next year he's not holding back, people can just get mad--the theater stated audience participation was encouraged, gonna make sure they really have full support of the theater next year and let loose.
To answer the question though No I've never gone. I want to do the one in Knoxville, but it has a really late start time(like 1130) and I always work, I need to plan on going and request the following day off

We did a couple of times. A college buddy was really liked it and made us all go once in college. I think the second time was a road trip to Chicago-land. (All my college friends were from Chicago area). It was a blast.

I've seen it once with a shadow cast, once as a play and a couple times movie only (with the yelling and prop throwing). The last time I went to the movie only, there were a couple of good 'ol Southern boys sitting in the front row - evidently they thought they were going to see a horror movie because after frank's first number they got up and walked out. DH and I still laugh about how traumatized they looked on their way out...
