My nephew is having a Halloween party with his friends, he is 11 but a total scarcedy cat when it comes to scary movies. At my age we were watching Poltergeist, Children of the Corn, Nightmare on Elm Street at sleepovers, but that isn’t going to fly with this kid.
Any suggestions for movies that he could show have on hand? Streaming would be great, but we might be able to grab something from our local video store, they have quite a collection, but that would also involve renting and setting up a machine which may be a challenge.
I know Hocus Pocus is a thing now, but I think that might be perceived as too young or girly for a group of 11 year old boys.
Any ideas on what the youth of today might enjoy? the,

My kid is kind of a scaredy cat too, but she LOVES Nightmare Before Christmas which kind of surprises me. She watched that movie almost on an endless loop since she was about seven. She also liked the Hotel Transylvania movies, Scared Shrekless, Charlie Brown, Curious George (that one might be a little young for an 11yo though), Toy Story of Terror, Room on the Broom (I personally LOVE that one and the book), ParaNorman, the Casper movies, and the Monsters Inc. movies.
She did NOT like Frankenweenie at all and made me turn it off. She really didn’t like that the dog in it died even though he was brought back to life. At the time we had an old Jack Russell and I think the dog in the movie reminded her of him so that was probably a big part of it.
I want to take her to the Addams Family movie that’s out in the theaters this year, she might like that one.
ETA: Check your local library too, a lot of them have DVDs you can check out for free. A lot of these are older so the library might have them.

Paranorman for sure.
Just scary enough.
Winnie the Pooh and the blustery day still scares the hell out of me...humphellumps!

We also couldn't watch Frankenweenie, for the exact same reason. Finnegan has been gone for several years now, maybe I will try again.

Disney's Haunted Mansion was a hit for us. And Halloween my teen usually pull back out the Harry Potter movies.

Thanks for all the suggestions! Will pass these on to his parental units, there are some good ones for sure. I forget about Monster House, I love that one! I will have to watch it myself this week.

I have seen just about everything listed except the Goosebumps movies- I have only seen a few of the stand alone tv shows, I had forgotten about a lot of them though, I am going to make myself my own rewatch list!
