"President Trump said on Saturday that he would no longer hold next year’s Group of 7 meeting at his luxury golf club near Miami, a swift reversal after two days of intense criticism over awarding his family company a major diplomatic event. “I thought I was doing something very good for our country by using Trump National Doral, in Miami, for hosting the G-7 leaders,” Mr. Trump wrote on Twitter, before again promoting the resort’s amenities. “But, as usual, the hostile media & Democrat partners went CRAZY!” Mr. Trump added: “Therefore, based on both Media & Democrat Crazed and Irrational Hostility, we will no longer consider Trump National Doral, Miami, as the Host Site for the G-7 in 2020.”" www.nytimes.com/2019/10/19/us/politics/trump-doral-g7.htmlI'd hate to be around him tonight as we know how gracious and mature he is.

Part of me thinks he didn't actually even care if G7 was held at Doral, and that it was just yet another outrageous attention grab to take our attention away from the massacre of the Kurds, and how Putin has become the military leader in that region now, as the United States has been dismissed by the world as impotent.

So many scandals in one day, we can't stay on top of everything.

How about it was just plain illegal?!?!!!
And because the republicans have ZERO morals, zero integrity, zero honesty, of course the Democrats May have been the loudest in pointing out more of his unethical, self enriching, self dealing actions.

Why Trump Dropped His Idea to Hold the G7 at His Own Hotel He knew Democrats would criticize him. When Republicans started doing so, he changed his mind.www.nytimes.com/2019/10/20/us/politics/trump-g7-doral.html"The president’s reaction “out in the tweet was real,” Mr. Mulvaney said on “Fox News Sunday.” “The president isn’t one for holding back his feelings and his emotions about something. He was honestly surprised at the level of pushback.”" Tell me again how women can't be president cuz 'too emotional'. G'on. Tell me.

I'm surprised none of the people interviewing (that I saw) Mulvaney asked him, "Did the president not know it was illegal and against the constitution?"

Seeing that he gives zero fucks about ever doing the right thing, I wonder who finally made him see that this could not go ahead, and how they got him to agree to change it.

Probably someone threatened not to pay him market rates and/or not to pay for "necessary refurbishments". With Trump, money is the ONLY thing that matters.

Actually the real reason is that Congress has to appropriate the funds for the summit and without Congressional support, he would never be able to have it there. This would create a scene where Congress (Dems) would publicly tell why they didn't give him the funds. He would look stupid and so to control the situation, he dropped the idea and said that the "Fake News" and Democrats were the reason he pulled out.
It was simply that he wasn't going to get the money to have it there.

It was simply that he wasn't going to get the money to have it there. I agree that this had to do with Congress having to approve the funding, but I think it wasn’t that the Dems would vote against it that swayed him, it is that it became apparent that a number of Republican congresspeople would go on record voting against it. Votes are concrete tangible disapproval that can’t easily be twisted to mean something else - so, Trump, Fox News, and his administration would have a hard time explaining away Republican votes against Trump’s terrible idea.

"Asked by Wallace why the president “caved” to the bipartisan backlash, Mulvaney said Trump was “honestly surprised at the level of pushback,” adding that the president “still considers himself to be in the hospitality business.”
Wallace seized on the “hospitality business” comment and pressed Mulvaney if the president understood why it “looked lousy.” The acting chief of staff's retort: “I think he thinks people think it looks lousy.”"
Mulvaney couldn't just say 'Yes, the President realizes is WAS LOUSY'.

This was his comment during his cabinet meeting this morning.... "You people with this phony Emoluments Clause," Trump said to reporters at the White House during a Cabinet meeting, referring to the constitutional clause that prohibits elected federal officials from receiving gifts or contributions from foreign governments.Trump offered a lengthy defense of using his Doral resort near Miami to host next year's G-7 summit, and lashed out amid questions about the backlash to his earlier decision. Trump insisted that he would not have profited off hosting world leaders, scores of journalists and other staff at his family's property near Miami. The president announced Saturday the White House would find a new location for the summit following criticism from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. “It would have been the best G-7 ever," Trump told reporters during a Cabinet meeting, adding that he felt the eventual location would not be as good. “I would have given it for nothing," he said. "The Democrats went crazy, even though I would have done it free." Trump, who turned over control of his business empire to his sons but did not put his assets in a blind trust, again criticized former President Obama for his book deal and contract with Netflix, both of which were agreed to after Obama had left the White House. ** thehill.com/homenews/administration/466732-trump-dismisses-phony-emoluments-clause-after-doral-criticismdt, READ the Constitution, the Emoluments Clause is right in there! READ IT!! And too stupid to know ......

This needs it’s own thread. Omg. The constitution of the United States is PHONY! Omg. People, this is scary shit, wake up.
