A dear friend's daughter who has cystic fibrosis is at the Cleveland Clinic and is very ill. She is on a ventilator and ECMO...tomorrow they will decide about putting her on the list for a lung transplant.
There's some fundraisers going on here but I want to send her and her DH a GC or two for something other than hospital food. Any ideas??? Is there a Starbucks nearby???
If you can spare a prayer or a good thought---please do. Olivia got a 'shake' vest from the Colton Foundation (He was on The Bachelor) and I know he and his group are doing something for them.

Praying for this little one and her family. I’m glad they were able to get the vest!

Praying for this little one and her family. I’m glad they were able to get the vest! Thanks~ She had one but had to be "plugged" in at home. This one is portable. She is 20 and this one allowed her to go to college for a short while. Her mom and I taught together for 10 years. My heart breaks for them at this point...she may not be strong enough for a transplant.

She must be quite a young lady to push through to go to college. It would be so easy to roll over and say I’m not feeling it.

I believe there is a Starbucks as well as a Subway located in the Cleveland Clinic. I think that Starbucks is in Building H and Subway may also be in Building H. There are other places as well in the Clinic but I don't believe they are places you would be able to get gift cards to unless you bought a Visa or MasterCard gift card they would be able to use.

I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I'd probably just put cash in the mail so she can use it for gas money, coffee, lunch or whatever she wants. Another idea if you want a gift card is someplace that would deliver to her like Jimmy Johns. Or do food delivery services like grubhub have gift cards?

I’m so sorry that she is so ill. I hear great things about Cleavland.
I’m a mom with a child who has a lot of medical issues and I just want to say thank you for thinking of your friend. I can easily spend 30 a day for food when my son is admitted. I am there sometimes a week, and the cost adds up. So to take 1 little thing of her mind is such a kind gesture and she will appreciate it.
I will be thinking of her.

Yes. I can send you some info. There are a lot of independent coffee shops around and lots of dining.

christine58Starbucks Moe’s Southwestern Grille Einstein Bagels McDonalds Panera is a little further. Also Subway. The hotel on the backside of the Cleveland Clinic (I think it’s a Holiday Inn) has a decent coffee shop and lunch/dinner in their lobby. All within 2 long city blocks. University Circle is extremely close (a little more than 1/2 mile) but there are shuttles that take patients, families around to various locations including University circle, Wade Oval, Little Italy. Little Italy is amazing and every other storefront is a restaurant, bakery, coffee shop. They are very casual to high end price wise. Excellent to walk the few blocks that encompass Litlle Italy, it’s like a span of 3-4 city blocks, anchored by a Catholic Church. Wade Oval and University Circle have tons of restaurants, both fast and sit down because it’s a very vibrant art, music, museum and college destination. If you’d like anything delivered to them, let me know.

I’m in Cincinnati and we give our CF patients that are admitted to our smaller hospital Uber Eats gift cards. They deliver right to the hospital. That might be another option.

Thanks for all the suggestions and offer! I know they won't leave her side for long and someone else said there's a Starbucks and Subway in the hospital.
