Big public moment.
Bill Taylor says publicly what he said in deposition: Amb. Sondland told Yermak (an aid to Pres. Zelensky) that military aid would not come until Pres Zelenskyy committed to pursue Burisma investigation. "I was alarmed by ... the Sondland-Yermak conversation."

It's really notable how every Republican has adopted Trump's language and speech patterns. This is the scariest part of this entire fiasco. trump has poisoned forever the integrity of our democracy. It will never be the same again. And yet, they all have it in them to just mimic Trump. In many ways, Trump's election was just the hand that pulled away the blanket. To me, that's the actual scariest part. Some people genuinely feel as entitled as Trump and are now no longer afraid of flying their dumb privilege flag out in the open. Before that, you could at best suspect it for a select few, perhaps wonder. But there's no room for doubt left now. And the numbers are frightening.

Via pooler @michaelcrowley: Asked whether Trump is watching impeachment hearing, Stephanie Grisham said: “He's in the Oval in meetings. Not watching. He's working." But no Marine standing guard outside West wing, as is customary when POTUS is in the Oval, @dmartosko noted.

Stephanie Grisham said: “He's in the Oval in meetings. Not watching. He's working." haha!! ok, so he's "air quote" working instead of *actually* working, then! Kind of like when he said if he was elected he'd work harder than any other President ever worked before...

This is huge -- new evidence tied directly to President Trump.
A day after phone call with Zelensky, Trump calls his ambassador/accomplice in Kyiv and makes explicit reference to the "investigations" he was demanding from Ukraine.
&
Shane Harris
Taylor's testimony (last month) was the clearest in laying out WHY the US supports Ukraine w/ aid and weapons. He also described the "regular" and "irregular" channels (Rudy and Co.) of what was happening in Ukraine. This is why Dems put him up first. Sets the stage.
Taylor added some NEW info in his opening statement: "Following the call with Trump, the member of my staff asked Amb. Sondland what Trump thought about Ukraine. Sondland responded that Trump cares more about the investigations of Biden, which Giuliani was pressing for."
That Sondland took this call w/ Trump in a restaurant, was overheard, and then talked about it to a staff member...wow.

I think you mean stuffing his face with hamberders while sitting on the pot, other then that I bet you are spot on. I am sure there is an entire team in place soothing his ego and sending encouraging picture notes under the door.

Those Dem Marines!)

He’s retweeting like crazy right now. But soon he’ll have a nice lunch of well-done steak with a side of ketchup and a 12 pack of Diet Coke.

Chuck Rosenberg: “To the extent that this is just a president trying to get a statement from some foreign leader completely misses the point. Ukraine is under attack, their people are dying, it's a war, and this president wants something in return.”
And if the Supreme Court rules against DACA trump will use these kids to get what he wants. trump has no problem bartering people’s lives to get what he wants. What he wants to benefit himself.

The Republicans are much more interested in persuading Trump of their loyalty than in persuading the public of Trump’s innocence.
What a bunch of cowards. Showing their loyalty to the biggest coward of the group.

Revealing that so far, Castor is asking Taylor NOTHING about his own actions, what he saw, etc. - it's just about the 2016 election, whether Trump is right to hate Ukraine, etc.
So Castor is the GOP lawyer asking questions and he is asking about the 2016 election? Really?

About Castor
Preet Baharara
I don’t believe Mr. Castor is a former prosecutor. Does it show?
Susan Glasser
GOP counsel Castor does not seem to be familiar with basics of how US diplomacy in foreign nations works. He asks if Ukrainian readout of Trump call was 'cryptic' because it was in Ukrainian?
Ari Fletcher
Whatever the GOP counsel is doing, it's not working. I don't undertand where he's going.

“GOP going after Hunter Biden.
Steve Castor, Republican counsel: Do you know if Hunter Biden had any expertise that would be useful to Ukrainian company other than his last name?
George Kent: I have no knowledge of Hunter Biden's expertise or resume.
Bill Taylor: I don't know.”

A reminder that Joe Biden’s push to get the corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor fired, which was the position of the U.S. government and basically the entire global community, was a move that INCREASED the chances that Burisma would be investigated.

Republicans for the rule of law
George Conway, a Republican lawyer, reminds us how Republicans used to stand up for truth and America's honor. They still can!
Conway is on MSNBC. That is sure to make the Mrs happy.

What happens if the presidents of other countries call up our president and say they won’t have a meeting until the trump children are investigated for profiting off the system?

Meadows says having any president's chief of staff testify would have a "chilling effect" on a president's ability to do his/her job.
But senior WH officials, including chiefs of staff, have testified to Congress before on a slew of occasions.
&
In addition to blocking witnesses, the White House and State are refusing to share documents that Taylor, Kent and other witnesses say exist that can provide contemporaneous documentation of a lot of what they're discussing.

Rep. Jim Himes: Did VP Biden and Pres. Trump do similar things as it relates to U.S. & Ukraine?
Kent: No. What VP Biden did was not the same thing as Pres Trump. Biden went after corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor who was undermining U.S. tax payer paid prosecution system in Ukraine.

We've had 4 hours of hearings so far, and so far the Republicans haven't provided any serious defense of what Trump did. There's smoke and innuendo, but no defending what Trump did.

Stephanie Grisham.
Rep Turner rightly points out that the first 2 “star” witnesses in this impeachment sham have never even spoken to @potus. Think about that: in a Presidential impeachment hearing, the dems witnesses have never even spoken w President Trump. This country deserves so much better.
She is absolutely correct in that this country deserves better. To achieve that Mulvancy, Bolton, Giuliani, & trump should all testify and in public.
