It is this class from Stacy Julian. She was one of my favorite instructors on BPC. I am a class hoarder (take lots of them, watch all the videos NEVER make more than one thing). I am afraid this will add to my hoarding collection. I have thinking of what I want for Christmas. Classes, Cameo, Minc? Thanks for your opinion. Edit: Thank you to all who replied. And yes, my question did not match the poll. My husband thought it was hilarious (he does...marketing? and somehow...polls?). I did not sign up for the class.

No because I'm like you in that I sign up and don't usually make the projects, but I at least usually learn something or get new ideas. No, because I scrapbook our life as it happens (even if I'm a year behind), not make up projects for the sake of doing a project. No, because I would need way more information about the specific projects she's talking about, not just general pictures from a 2 minute video. No, because for that kind of money I'd like some freebies that I can actually use in projects.
My initial "no" would be because of the price, but once you break it down to $10 a month or $6 a project, then it's not bad...but not for me because of how I scrapbook.

From the website
"In this classroom community we are going to celebrate and document the people, places, and things most important to you and we will do it in so many delightfully different and FUN ways—from themed photo displays to traditional and digital scrapbooks to audio, video, home decor and more. "
I wouldn't for that reason. I currently do not have any type of Photoshop program so I don't think that would work. I'm not interested in audio and video memories, and my home décor is minimal because of my destructive child. If I'm paying $120.00, I want to see the actual projects and not a vague description. That might actually sway me to pay for the class because it does sound like a lot of content.

No, I learned my lesson from the Heidi Swapp year long class years ago.
I won’t sign up for any class that is not specific about number of projects, videos, techniques, and supplies needed. I think a preview video explaining it all helps too

No. Too much without any clear idea about what the class is about. With so much free content out there and some reasonably priced online classes eg I think I paid $20 - $30 for each Kerri Bradford class I took and that gave me plenty of information and inspiration. I guess for a whole years it's not a bad cost (at least before you convert to NZ$) but it's more than I'd be prepared to pay.

I simply would *not* pay that amount of money in advance and in one go for a year-long class. I'd rather pay in smaller fractions with the possibility to opt out at any moment so I can test how useful these monthly lessons are to me even if it ends up costing me more for 12 months (say $14/month instead of 120 fixed rate for a year which would come out to $10/month). I find that this is just too big a risk to take for my outlook on investment and return (I need to be doing something with crafty classes). If I don't keep up with it or realise three months in that I had great intentions (ah, the psychology of January resolutions and how marketing uses that positive, hopeful quality to make money!) but not so great follow-through, I can quit and not suffer the consequences of sunk cost regret.

No, I would need way more information before signing up for a class at that price point but the little information she provided and highlighted above the answer would be a hard no.

It’s too vague. There are no pictures of what is to come. I suspect that she only has a vague idea of what she plans to do, and it will be designed as she goes.
If you consider 20 projects for $120, that sounds like a decent deal because it works out to only $6/project, but what if you really like only one of the projects? Then you’ve paid $120 for just the one you liked and/or made.
I voted to put the money toward a Cameo or something tangible. It would be a better use of your money in my opinion.

I watched the promo video and read over the description of the 2020 project class, and I think it might be something that works for someone who collects classes for later and maybe just uses it a couple of times. I think that she plans on providing prompts, and then giving examples of how to implement those prompts in a number of different formats. So if you are a digi scrapper, you could do that, or if you are into creating items for home décor or gifts for other people she will have ideas for that, but if you only work in paper and glue, then there will be ideas for that as well.
So if you manage one project for each prompt, that would be your money's worth. Could be a page for one, a card for another, a gift for another, so no getting into a rut.
Not against the Silhouette purchase--I have one. But I don't use it nearly as often as I thought I would. If you go with that option, maybe ALSO ask for a class on how to use it?

Just depends. I’ve paid that much for stamp carving classes from Julie Fei-Fan Balzer and was totally satisfied, and learned a ton. I would take other classes from her at this price point. I remember wasting $99 on Becky’s Project Real Life class several years ago 😑
I am also a class hoarder and have decided not to purchase anymore classes until I make it through at least 75% of my current digital graveyard.
I have a cameo (and a Minc) that’s collecting dust. The learning curve is steep imo and just I don’t have the time to dedicate to it at this point in my life. Plus I wish they would come up with a useable app! I actually regret the purchase.

No, but I'm not into classes at all. There is so much free content out there that I've never felt the need. I've taken free classes, and while they were interesting, I didn't put them to use. I've always chosen to put my money toward supplies instead. And I do have a Cameo and use it regularly. It was a great purchase.

Not for me. I don't pay for classes. There's a world of inspiration available for free.
I'd rather spend that money on stuff.

I voted no because I also think it's too vague and too long...I want a specific date/period. Life gets crazy and I'm sure I wouldn't be able to keep up.

Nope - but mainly because its a Stacy Juliian class. I refuse to support her. I have paid that much for a class before though - it was a Karen Russell Photography class and for the right class, I would do it again.

Has she invented something totally new and unseen?
I can't imagine an online class ever being worth $120.
I'm cheap.

No - all that stuff is easily available for free on the internet, minus the spoon-feeding and branded rhetoric. 120$ is a boatload of craft supplies. Spend your money on things that will actually matter, or on very specific lessons if, for some reason, you have a particular interest in mind and cannot find a publicly accessible video or blog on it. Which is doubtful.

I would be tempted... but in reality I know that I would not be able to complete a year-long project. I never have really. I'm also a bit like you and am an online class collector. I don't do a lot of the projects, though I do draw some inspiration from them.

No, I wouldn't even be tempted. Online classes don't really do it for me. In the past I have purchased two of Shimelle's classes. They are much more reasonably priced. The first I enjoyed well enough. The second one I never even bothered to log in to. I probably could if I could find my confirmation email at this point but I just have no interest. I would spend $120 on many other things before I would drop it on an online class of any kind.

It is too much money, IMHO. Especially if it's Stacy Julian. She grates on my nerves, and she over-dramatizes everything. She has some wonderful ideas, but I just can't take her for more than 2 minutes.

I can’t imagine there is anything in there worth $120. It’s just scrapbooking and there is plenty of free content out there if I can’t decide what to put in a scrapbook and need ideas.

I would not pay $120 for an online class. I’m not disciplined enough to do online classes. I don’t pay for online dog training classes either. I did not vote because the thread title and the poll question aren’t the same so I didn’t want to mess it up

Would I? No. I have plenty enough inspiration and not enough time or money.
Should you? Depends. Do you feel good about spending your money/someone's money/the opportunity cost that way - getting a class, watching, not doing anything more with it? Does it make you feel inspired and satisfied in other ways? Do you like and trust Stacy Julian? Do you think you'll be excited about this by May or October? There's no shame in spending money on classes that you enjoy if you feel good about that, whether you make anything or not. It's probably cheaper than a concert, and I'm sure the inspiration and learning manifests somewhere in your crafty life. But I think you have to be clear on what value it has for you and why.
I would consider giving Shimelle that much money because I enjoy her work and support her and trust her generally, but I'd hesitate to hand it over to Stacy Julian or Ali Edwards and I would run the other way if it was a Becky Higgins class.
No guarantee that spending the money on a Cameo will work out better. There are plenty of people here who were defeated by the inconvenience, the learning curve, or some other barrier. But there are also people who use it regularly and it's a cornerstone of their craft process. It really depends on your space (if you have a place to set it up that is convenient), tolerance for learning a techie thing, and what kind of crafter you are.
I hope you enjoy whatever you choose to do!

I find so much instruction and inspiration available online for FREE I couldn't imagine paying $120. I'm going to predict right now that whatever she offers is not going to be new or groundbreaking, and that by August she's going to be struggling to offer anything meaningful through the end of the year.

No way hosay. There is so much, wonderful free content on the internet.
I didn’t even pay that much to attend language lessons at my local college with a native speaker.

I find so much instruction and inspiration available online for FREE I couldn't imagine paying $120. 100% this! 120 bucks is a lot of money for me. There are things (a scrapping wagon, overnight at the LSS retreat center, etc...) that I want very badly that I cannot fathom paying 120 for a vague promise of classes to come, when I can take lots of free classes.

I would pay $120 for an online class if I loved the instructor, was confident that the content would be delivered, and if it was something I was really excited to learn. I took the Library of Memories class from Stacy before and I liked it, but there are too many things about this class that wouldn't work for me. I'm a paper and glue scrapbooker, not really digital. I don't want to make home decor, etc. Your mileage may vary with that, and if she is one of your favourites you will probably enjoy the content. I do agree with others that there is a lot of free content out there. I find a lot of it really inspiring. I also tend to by classes from Shimelle. Not so much to scrap along with, but I watch them when convenient and usually find them inspiring. I would tend to default to the Silhouette purchase. I use mine regularly and love what I have been able to make with it to enhance my scrapbooking. That said, I am a fairly basic user and was lucky enough to get a class at my LSS with mine to learn the ins and outs. I also have a Minc. It was used exactly once and I couldn't get it to foil nicely so it sits there on the shelf making me feel guilty when I look it. I swear I am going to start laminating things with it just so I don't feel so bad about it
