I wouldn’t take that class, but I don’t necessarily think it’s too much to spend on a class. I have taken some of Shimelle’s classes and felt I got my money’s worth. I don’t dislike StacyJulian but I think there’s not enough description of what you get for me to sign up. I’m also not interested in home decor projects.
I have a Cameo and have not used it enough, but that’s because I have been in school and not had time for scrapping at all. I intend to start using it more in 2020. If you think you would use it it may be the better choice.

I have, and I am. I have signed up for this class.
I was not part of the Heidi Swapp/BPC "oh well" fiasco. I would not want to be treated that way..so I get it.
My personal experience w/ Stacy has been positive and she also was one of my favorite instructors> Finding Photo Freedom literally changed my life and my scrapbooking.
I tend to value classes over product...lets face it, I spend too much money on both lol... but for now I do not need any big ticket items ( or small stuff for that matter-i have way too much stuff)
If I had to choose between them...idk what I would pick...I would probably buy the class...and save for the Cameo which could be purchased at a later time after saving up?

Nope- I don't think I'd ever spend that much on any one ONLINE class, but I certainly wouldn't spend that amount of money for THIS class, for a few reasons.
1) I am a notorious slacker when it comes to following along with online content 2) I don't like small photo 'projects' like the things she showed in the video. I just like doing my album pages. 3) I have a short attention span and anything like this that's supposed to be a 'year long' project would only get about a month of my attention at the most.
And-- in my opinion, 20 projects is a lot! that's a project every 2-3 weeks... I know I wouldn't have time for that. Heck, I barely have time to get to and from work and to do the stuff I *have* to do.
ETA: I would rather buy tools, which are non-consumable, or paper / supplies, which are my weakness. I get plenty of inspiration for projects from Instagram and YouTube. I changed my answer to the survey three times- I answered Yes, because I thought the question was 'is $120 too expensive' then I changed it to "no" meaning would I ever spend that much for an online class... then I changed it to 'get the Cameo' because that's an investment in a non-consumable tool that you can use over and over.

No. I would rather spend the money on supplies. Paper, stickers, embellishments, etc...
If there was something I saw and wanted to learn how to do, I would search youtube for free videos or ask about it here in this forum.

Only for a class taught by Karen Russell would I pay that much. I would never pay that much for the class posted. I voted yes on the survey because I was answering the question posted, and was surprised so many other people were saying “no” after reading the responses I am even more confused.

No, I learned my lesson from the Heidi Swapp year long class years ago. I won’t sign up for any class that is not specific about number of projects, videos, techniques, and supplies needed. I think a preview video explaining it all helps too That's where I learned my lesson too! I wouldn't do it.

I don't mind paying a higher price for a professionally produced class and/or I really want to support the artist/crafter offering the class but I'm less willing if it's techniques I can find on youtube. I will also happily pay for content I want to learn, even if I could find it by searching through youtube, if it's well done & makes finding what I want to learn faster than endless YouTube searches. I'm happy to pay for something that saves me time. I think the "year long" is a big part of the reason I'd pass. The only year long class I do is One Little Word, and I'm only mildly successful with that one. I know myself well enough to know I'd lose interest after a couple of months.
If it's in your budget and you want to do it, go for it. If you'd rather have the cameo, then that might be a better use of those dollars if you think you'd use it.

Only for Tim Holtz. Still want to take his classes.
$120 is about 1/2 the cost of a scrapbooking retreat. I would rather spend my $ on that .

I would, but only with an instructor I completely trust.

Well -- duh ... reading comprehension is a good thing. I answered the poll incorrectly because I didn't read the poll question - I was answered the subject question. NO - I wouldn't pay $120.00 for any on-line scrap class - particularly one from Stacey Julian or BPC. Stacey changed her philosophy on scrapbooking to something I do not agree with (learned THAT in an unfortunate class at a big scrap convention) and I think that she and BPC jacked up scrap class prices.

I wouldn't pay $120 for a Tim Holtz class either. I've taken a class with him. Although he's a good teacher, I didn't find anything earth-shattering about what he taught. There wasn't anything I hadn't already learned online or in other classes. It was fun, but I certainly didn't pay anywhere near $120 for it. At least the SJ class looks like it has many parts to it, but it seems kind of unstructured to me. I'd want to know exactly what I was getting for my money.

The content does not interest me. I find I don’t stick with online courses. And the price seems high. But, bottom line, I’ve taken a couple of her classes in person and found her less than inspiring.

Finding Photo Freedom literally changed my life and my scrapbooking. I would love if she would revamp this class. She said she would at the beginning of this year, and now she is specifically saying she isn't, so I'm disappointed. I would shell out money for that class.

i've done an online class but i couldn't resist buying the Tim Holtz online card classes when they went on sale for 50% off. i've known about them for a while but i couldn't bring myself to pay regular price for them.
you're supposed to have lifetime access to the classes so i'll check them out after the holidays.

I wouldn’t pay that much for an online class but I would pay that for an in person class. About 5 years ago I attended a weekend retreat with Stacy Julian, Heidi Swapp, Ali Edwards, Elise Cripe, Amy Tan and a few more. It was several hundred dollars but it was local to me so I didn’t have the travel expense and we got at least $150 in product. It was worth every penny and I wasn’t disappointed in anyone’s class.

It was several hundred dollars but it was local to me There is one in Toronto in the Spring: Heidi Swapp, Amy Tan, Vicky Boutin, Paige Evans, Shimelle. It's the same weekend as one of my DDs dance competitions, but I so badly wanted to go and DH was telling me that missing one dance comp out of many many years would be ok. Then the price tag of $545 was announced. 5 classes; a dessert buffet; a lunch; a supper; and a "light" lunch. I cannot even pretend I might attend now. It's just way too much for me.

I have a cameo (and a Minc) that’s collecting dust. The learning curve is steep imo and just I don’t have the time to dedicate to it at this point in my life. Plus I wish they would come up with a useable app! I actually regret the purchase. Thanks for this. I don't want to deal with a big learning curve.

Which question do you want us to answer? The thread question and survey question are not the same. yes, I realize that now. Agh. Logic was never my strength.

Her delivery is REALLY hard for me to listen to - even for free. So, no. I had forgotten about that. The lip smacking is hard to listen to.

Should you? Depends. Do you feel good about spending your money/someone's money/the opportunity cost that way - getting a class, watching, not doing anything more with it? Does it make you feel inspired and satisfied in other ways? Do you like and trust Stacy Julian? Do you think you'll be excited about this by May or October? There's no shame in spending money on classes that you enjoy if you feel good about that, whether you make anything or not. It's probably cheaper than a concert, and I'm sure the inspiration and learning manifests somewhere in your crafty life. But I think you have to be clear on what value it has for you and why. These are awesome questions.

I saw that class announced and vaguely thought "that would be so cool!" but Toronto is a looong way from me and I figured it would be hella expensive. Not that I think it's necessarily overpriced - I've heard of people paying that much for much less. But there's no way for me, not even if I lived down the street.

For me it’s not necessarily the cost but my perception of the value. I could afford the expensive classes with travel since DH and are are at the point in our lives that we don’t have a lot of expenses and a lot of discretionary income. However, when I think of what I would get for that money it’s not worth it to me. I’d rather spend my money on a pedicure every 2 weeks which feels like the ultimate luxury to me. Everyone has their own perceptions of value.
