I think every recent purchase is my favorite purchase, not matter what it is. It represents potential, something new to play with, and I love potential!
I recently managed to finally get the little beach hut from My Favorite Things that I had been drooling over, but it had been out of stock. I even got it on sale, although I haven’t used it yet, since summer was over by the time I managed to get it. I think it will become a favorite. I have used the Jaded Blossom gnome, also a recent purchase. The cowboy add-on automatically makes it a favorite for me. I’ve used the Queen & Co. Halloween Foundation dies quite a bit this CARDtober, too, so just based on amount of use since buying, it rates as a favorite. I also got some Disney themed card making dies at the June GASC that I really love.
Queen & Co. has been producing more Foundation dies recently. I rave about them all the time, but I am not affiliated with them in any way. However, their Foundation dies are my most used dies, so I guess they qualify as my absolute favorites, just based on how much they get used.

I had to look up “tower flap card to understand. For something like this, I would get a 6x6 paper pad with coordinating papers and cut the pieces from a variety of those papers. Just mix them up so the effect is varied. The papers in a paper pad typically are made to go together, but even using a paper pad with mi and match papers, it does look like a challenging project. yes - that is what I've done -- each square has the same matting but a different color of square on top. In some of the places, I cut the paper so that two colors are aligned in the small square; in other cases I cut the pattern paper so that 4 colors show in the square. I could probably go as it is -- but I was wondering about something ... "more" (and I totally understand that "more" isn't always better -- but too often I am inclined to just leave a design when just a little something else could put it over the top) Thanks for the clarification. I understand a little better now. Your Tower Flap card seems to be a more elaborate twist on a simpler type of panel card. In both cases, I suggest that less is more. Embellish only a few panels, perhaps one or two with a stamped or printed word. A few others with a small image that coordinates with the papers. One or two panels with half pearls or enamel dots. Keep it to a minimum, and it should look better than with too much embellishment. I love unusual cards, and I’ve been making cards for decades. This is one of the few cards that I have seen that I don’t know if I would tackle. Yes, it’s impressive, but it looks a bit overwhelming, even for a seasoned card maker. Don’t beat yourself up for feeling a bit intimidated by it. I think I would be, too, and I normally love dimensional cards. It seems more like a creative project someone would do if they were trying to get on a design team, rather than a card I would make for a friend.

I just found it online at a new scrapbook store about 45 min away from me: Gaggle paperOur LSS brought in the 497Market Sherbet line that I loved. I am hoping they will bring this one in. Not on their website yet, but I am attending a crop there this upcoming weekend, so hoping they will have this paper. Or the 6x8 pack that includes this one. I have lots of garden photos to scrap this weekend, and much of this line would work beautifully with them. But I really need to find a photo of my dMIL and do up a frame with this particular paper. Now I need to look for a paper with PIGS on it to do a companion piece featuring my dFIL... I’m glad I didn’t have any food or drink in my mouth when I read this….. I did see your clarification, but you made me laugh!

I have wandered in from time to time, but the last time I was there (awhile ago), they had little to nothing of interest. It will be nicer if that has changed. However, do I need anything? Not really. I have been happily shopping from my stash throughout the last couple of years. If anything, that has made me feel like I spent far too much money at TM in the past. Will I be taking a peek to see how things are now? Probably. Will I buy anything? I guess it depends on how tempting the offerings are…..

I use large shoe style containers with snap on lids from Walmart. I do not store them with envelopes. I buy envelopes in bulk and keep them separate. I organize my cards by season and by themes.
If it weren’t for CARDtobers, though, I wouldn’t have a storage box. I used to just make them as needed, and if I didn’t have time to make a card, the recipient got store bought. I never give store bought cards anymore. CARDtober helps me keep a supply on hand.

azcrafty, your little fairy card is adorable. It’s a shame that the company who makes it has gone out of business, but I’m glad you used the stamp, even though it’s been discontinued. The stickles add the perfect shimmer to her wings. So, so cute! Thanks for sharing it.

Where do you get your pictures printed? I prefer to have them done by someone else, even though I have a good printer. It won’t print at the resolution it is supposed to be able to do.
I used to get mine printed at Costco, but they don’t do them in house anymore. I could still have them done through Costco, and just have them shipped to me, but I haven’t done that. Trying to figure out the best way. It’s been so long since I scrapbooked, and I want to get my Disney pictures printed and get started.

Oh, scrapnnana ! Ya know I am going to love your cute little wizard gnome! So cool that he is using his book of spells. I really need to take some of my gnomie dies out to play... Thank you! I definitely was thinking of you when I made him! I know you love gnomes, and your cowboy gnome convinced me to buy these. I’m glad you liked my version, and I look forward to seeing whatever you do with your gnome making skills!

I almost never have used Thickers/stickers in all the years I’ve been scrapping. I use my electronic cutter, but occasionally I have splurged for Paper Wizard titles.

nylene, your travel card for “While You Were Sleeping” is perfect for the movie, but it’s also a very pretty card. Thank you, also, for taking the time to offer very specific compliments to each person. jjpeapea, you have been doing the same, and I appreciate it. I usually try to do better about that, but I’m still so sick that I am taking shortcuts for now. I’ll try to do follow your examples as I improve.

On Grand Bahama Island, the sand is pink because it is mostly crushed shell. It feels like you are walking in flour, until your bare feet find the occasional rock.
Sand can be a variety of colors. The Mudd Puddles company has sand of various colors, each color in a jar.
It is frustrating to be trying to match photos and paper, though, especially if the sand on the paper isn’t the right color.

All of the challenges that I post are based on the theme “It’s Magical.” The first week (Oct 7) was Movie Magic. Oct. 14 was Holiday Magic. Today, your challenge is to make a card with a member of the Magical Folk (2 legged) community on it, such as a gnome, fairy, elf, pixie, witch, wizard, dwarf, leprechaun, etc. The twist is to either add something you have rarely or never put on a card, OR adapt his/her costume in some way. I used vinyl to make the book, because the lines were too thin for card stock. I also used vinyl for the Wizarding 101 “classroom header.” I adapted my gnome's costume. The company that makes this gnome is Jaded Blossom. I have the basic gnome and the cowboy add ons. That is all I have from the gnome sets. I wanted to make a wizard gnome (which they don’t offer, anyway), so I added a little black cauldron from Queen & Co., as well as giving him a book. His wand is the stick from the stick horse of the cowboy set. I added a moon and stars to his hat and used the cowboy boots for his shoes. I cut the book and words with my Cameo. I used the Tim Holtz brick embossing folder on the background for texture and used a makeup brush to ink it, something that I rarely do.

If you are handing the shaker to the recipient, you can usually get away with foam tape. If it goes through the mail, a shaker can get ruined (as well as cost you extra postage). If you got a kit, similar to what Queen & Co. sells, you can potentially use craft foam with adhesive for the shaker, and just cut it with your shaped shaker die, but you’ll have to double it. I do that all the time, especially if I have run out of the kit pieces. I use clear acetate for the window, like a clear report cover, and cut that with the outline die. Some shakers (like from My Favorite Things) use a molded bubble. That is a different style of shaker. I don’t like those as well. They seem more likely to get messed up in the mail. Queen & Co. also sells a tacky glue that works well. I’m not sure what type shaker you bought, but I am guessing you have the style shaker similar to what Queen & Co. sells. You can find shaker fillings at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. I do not recommend glitter. It tends to cling to the window. I use a Bounce sheet on my acetate(just wipe the acetate gently with it before sealing it up). That helps, but I almost never use regular glitter as a filler. Queen & Co. has tutorials on their website, but they use their kits, not foam tape or fun foam. I have a shaker tutorial on my blog that I posted awhile back that might be helpful: Shaker Tutorial

I was taught how to make this years ago. I didn’t use a score board or a ruler, just cut my pieces to size and started folding from the middle. It works for me. I was also told that it is called an explosion card because you add a bunch of glitter in the center, and when the recipient opens it, the glitter “explodes” out of the card and all over the place. Glitter is evil……my card will remain glitter free. I did use an unusual element. I used velcro on the belly band, to just open it instead of having the belly band slide off the card. The small, square card inside is loose and can be removed, written on, etc. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be that way, but that’s how I did mine, mostly due to my paper choices. I needed someplace to at least sign the card. And when it’s open:

I’m trying to play catch up, too. We didn’t get back from our trip till Oct. 6th, due to the hurricane, and I came home sick. I’m still sick, so catching up is slow. I appreciate all the wonderful cards already shared. Here is mine for using a stamp set that has never been used before: I should have stamped in a darker ink, but other than that, he’s such a cute little porcupine.
