My marriage disintegrated so quickly that it took a couple of months to really believe it was ending. Luckily, I had two close friends who had also been through divorces from cheating spouses, so they provided constant moral support and companionship. If you have people like that to lean on, do so! And then pay it forward down the line.
I agree with others’ suggestions: set up a routine, get active, try new things you’ve always wanted to do. Whatever you can do to focus on YOURSELF and keep your mind and body sharp will help you navigate through the inevitable low points. For example, when I divorced, Tae Bo was really popular, so I bought some tapes and kicked and punched my frustrations out almost every day. (visualizing my ex as what I was kicking and punching was a BIG bonus!) I was also working full time + which gave my days focus and I added a couple of grad classes to my schedule, again to give me something else to focus on.
Whether you want to date is up to you. My ex had given my self-esteem such a body blow that I was thrilled when single men began paying attention and quickly started dating. I dated some duds and some good ones—and a year after my ex moved out, I met my wonderful Jeff; we’ve been married for 19 years now.
Eventually, you will get past the initial grieving and realize that your life is so much better now than you had ever thought it could be. Until then, lean on the Peas, keep yourself busy and focused, and let yourself grieve without guilt.

Yes, two of my online students, both under 30 and healthy, contracted it and it wiped them both out for several weeks. Although they’ve since recovered, they say it’s the sickest they’ve ever been.

Wouldn't surprise me. Sean Spicer is probably the most divisive contestant so far. Rick Perry was another really controversial one, though I'd agree that Spicer was the most divisive. Tucker Carlson?

DH teaches high school on salary, so no change for him. Mine has gone down slightly because I’m only teaching 3 summer classes instead of my normal 4 during the summer. Given the huge drop in enrollment at my college, I don’t expect to get my typical OT assignment. However, that’s extra, so no huge deal. On the plus side, we paid off our mortgage in February, have received 2 insurance rebates, and both will be getting scheduled raises in the fall. All in all, not too bad.

Reading, crochet and knitting daily though during the pandemic, I’ve ordered supplies for drawing, watercolor, and journaling. Plus, I just bought a sewing machine and received a shipment of quilting fabric. I’d like to start making my own project bags and small home decor things, like pillows and wall quilts.

Superintendent for our county (Escambia) held press conference just yesterday to announce the planned reopening on August 10 in traditional format with no social distancing and masks recommended but not required. Students can also opt to go full time online with same seat time as traditional or Escambia/Florida Virtual School. This is a massive crap fest waiting to happen.

I’m American and I use both as needed since they are gender specific.
ETA: my husband is a blond, but I have blonde highlights applied to my hair.

Agreed. And by their fruits, they deserve it, imo. I believe Jesus wouldn't recognize what they've perverted his message into. Are Evangelicals part of this graph? I see Catholics and Protestants. I don't know much about Evangelicals in particular, other than they seem to be the group that singly helped Trump over the election hump. Are they losing members along with the Catholics, Protestants and other organized religions? Evangelicals are a subset of Protestants.

Yes, my mother had ovarian cancer and then breast cancer twice. With first breast cancer treatment, the chemo caused her neuropathy in her feet; the second triggered horrific afibrillation that repeatedly put her back in the hospital. However, it wasn’t cancer that finally beat her but complications from heart bypass surgery. Her last two years were marked by a steep decline in mobility, energy, and memory. I felt as if I lost mom quite a while before she died.

🎉🎊🎈Doing the happy dance! Doing the happy dance!
Today I finished TWO projects: my first ever complete pair of knitted socks AND a squishy, warm knitted hat for DH. I have no pics yet, but will post when I manage to figure it out.
Tomorrow, DH and I are heading to Orlando to spend Thanksgiving with DS, so I will get about 7 straight hours of knitting in. I’m planning on taking yarn for another pair of socks, this time for DH, and more for several more blocks in the Nature Walk blanket. Since we are staying in a condo and only plan on one day at Universal Studios, I should get lots of time to kick back and get yarny.

I’m a registered Republican, but would vote for an actual donkey rather than that ass currently in the White House. Based on their positions, I’m between Biden and Buttigieg. I’d rather have Mayor Pete just because he’s younger. I’m afraid of the age factor with the other 3 front runners.

tyra and elaine (or anyone else that wants to chime in)--I am doing my swatch Heart square. Do you know why she doesn't use this square pattern for the blanket? I like it. I am wondering if there might be one I don't like as well and do the heart pattern instead. Hmmm? Also, this is the first time in 42 years of crocheting that I have used a chart. I think I might like it better than written directions IF I can keep track of where I am on the chart. LOL! I’m on week 2’s bobble square (berries, I think it’s called). ICK! I am considering subbing the heart for it. I don’t need to get hand cramps from something I’m doing as stress relief.

I was a 32 B for years and years, constantly being teased by my family about the mosquito bites on my chest. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve gone up to a 34D, which DH enjoys. They aren’t huge, but I do fill out sweaters better now.😆 on the other hand, I can generally get away with wearing sports bras and do so as much as possible. I’m happy where I am now, wasn’t bothered when I was smaller, but would be MISERABLE if I had much more to deal with. I don’t want to feel that I must wear a bra to keep my boobs from hitting me in the face if I move to energetically!

I think you are suffering from PTSD, and you need s9me counseling to get past it. If you’ve never been subject to violence before, having it come at you like this, totally unexpectedly from someone you thought you could trust, would be enough to cause lasting harm. Get counseling.
To your original question, I read your post to DH who was shocked. He said that if he had been the boyfriend in this situation, the guy would be nursing a black eye so that he could understand what he’d just done. He does think you should let the guy apologize, even though it probably isn’t sincere, it that doesn’t mean you have to start seeing him again. From my perspective, I wouldn’t talk to either of them again. The husband hit you, but the wife is apparently okay with it.

Wow, where is the group on Ravelry for this? Love this! It's called the Nature's Walk crochet along. It's by Cherry Heart in partnership with Black Sheep Wools. There is a thread on ravelry. But the Facebook page is a lot more active. Elaine, tyra, and I are doing it. Pahina722 has got it in the works I think but has not said she started. Elaine posted a pic above for me so I could see a specific square. Hers is the same blanket as tyras in a different colorway. I'm way behind but I hope to have mine done by Christmas. I actually did start it yesterday. My Battenberg is on hold until I get more yarn, and I was getting itchy seeing y’all talk about your progress! I did the gauge swatch square (dead-on at 16 cm) and then finished two Gate squares from Week 1. I will be finishing the other 2 Gate squares today and moving to theButterfly squares. So I suppose I’m only , what, 7 weeks behind? Like jeremysgirl, I think I can get it done by Christmas, especially since I bought the kit and have all the yarn I need ready to go.

I’ve been working on this quilt for ages and I don’t like it. I’ve already sewn more than half the blocks together into groups of four, so I really don’t want to take them apart to add anything else. I’m seriously considering giving up quilting because I never like anything I make, and I haven’t actually finished anything in more than three years. And it just feels like another failure/burden — I always want to make time for quilting and when I do the outcome is dismal. What is it you don't like about it? I just saw the picture and was thinking how pretty it looked then I scrolled and saw your post! I was surprised you don't like it. Is there anything in particular that bothers you over it? I agree. When I saw the picture, I was thinking how wonderful that would be in a girl’s room or over a wicker couch in a sun room. It just looks so fresh and bright!

Clothes I’ve never worn. It’s somewhat embarrassing to see all those tags hanging, and realize that some have been dangling for years.. now, some of them I can blame on gifts from my mother who never seemed to get my style or from my husband, who (wonderful man) underestimates my size, but many are impulse purchases. When I was doing my summer purge, I found a bag shoved waaaay in the back that had several pairs of nice slacks in size 8. I haven’t been size 8 since about 2010.

Thank you -- I'll look into ARC - we'd already thought of elementary schools (after I posted.) Any Facebook groups for Pensacola scrappers? I haven’t scrapped in forever and was never part of any groups. We definitely don’t have any more independent scrapbook stores, which is where I would them to meet/start/join. if it were closer to the summer, I would point you to either UWF’s or PSC’s summer kids’ college programs. They are always looking for supplies!

I’m in Pensacola. How about ARC, which serves developmentally challenged individuals? Or probably any of the elementary schools, especially those in lower income areas. Warrington, Longleaf, and Oakcrest all come to mind.

tyra elaine Pahina722 RosieKat how are your crochet along squares coming along? I've got four more left to do for this week so of course I'm running behind. How about you guys? I’ve been holding off on starting since I’m already working on the Battenberg squares for that blanket. HOWEVER, doing the same pattern over and over and over and . . . well, I’m considering diving into the Nature Walk Blanket squares and doing some since they are bigger and different. Meanwhile, I’ve also begun an amigurumi cat and am at the heel turn of the second sock of my first pair ever. so many projects, so little time!

Knowing that DD would struggle a great deal with never having privacy - she is both anxious and an introvert - we chose to put her in an on-campus apartment. She shares the apartment with another girl but has her own room. I have to say I’m shocked at what you’re paying for the dorm, though - unless I’m misunderstanding you, it’s quite a bit more than we pay monthly for her apartment. What @merge said! DS has never lived in a dorm. We put him in off campus apartments, the current one owned by the college. He gets his own room and bathroom while sharing the living room, kitchen, and laundry with his ONE roommate. His rent is $685/month; there’s no way he comes close to another $1000 per month for food! I would suggest that you tell her that she needs to get through this uncomfortable year, using the solutions already suggested for dealing with her current roommate. Then, she can move into an apartment, hopefully with a different roommate with whom she gets along better.

I’m done crocheting my 8 squares for this week. Now I need to block them. (have I mentioned that I don’t like blocking?) I’m still waiting for my yarn to show up😿 I got the email on 9/16 saying it had shipped, but still nothing. As I wait, I’m working on Cherry Heart’s Battenberg Blanket pattern using all the mini skeins of Stonewashed and Riverwashed XL that I received through Jimmy Bean Wools’s crochet club and never used. I’m getting 2 4” squares from each mini. And once I finish all the colored squares, I will still have all the white squares to go . . .. and the sewing everything together . . . And the border. So, it’s not as if I don’t have anything to keep me busy!

elaine did you get yours? Or the same email I got? jeremysgirl, I got the same email that you did. I’m okay with the substitutions as I tend to work with darker colors any way. I was hoping to get the package soon, so I suppose the email means next week if I’m lucky.

2 theater popcorn buckets, 1 huge gourmet popcorn tin and an empty Rubbermaid cereal container. Now the cabinet above the frig has all my good china in it. I suppose since I’ve used it less than 5 times in 30 years, a thief could take it without my ever noticing.

In my PORTION of the state, only Republicans visit, so it’s irrelevant. It’s also frustrating because the overwhelming conservative majority coupled with the way electoral college votes are earned (all or nothing) means that my vote essentially doesn’t count in my portion of Florida. Heck, that moron Matt Gaetz is my rep. 🤮

Luckily, over here on the Panhandle, most aren’t freaking out yet. Now, if Dorian barrels across the state and into the Gulf, panic will ensue! DS is in Orlando at UCF in off campus housing, so he’s on his way here as I type. Since the college doesn’t provide any shelters for students living off campus, he didn’t have any other options. DH is in Tallahassee with his college buds for their annual football game meetup. The game was scheduled for Jacksonville, but the early reports about the storm’s track got FSU to move the game back to Tallahassee.
So, here I sit watching Harry Potter movies and enjoying my alone time. I feel for all of y’all who are in the current strike zone. I’m still hoping for a quick right turn that sends that b!tch back out to sea.
