UPDATE: I asked Melissa at the Silhouette School if she ever heard of anyone having a similar problem. She looked at my screen shots and she was stumped too. I’m having hubby uninstall/reinstall again to see if it was my error. Fingers crossed.

I can see thumbnails in the software, but not my hard drive. It’s been that way for me for a long time, and I can’t remember seeing thumbnails on my hard drive, so I’m not sure why you had that option with an earlier version (a nice feature) of the software. Perhaps open a chat query with Silhouette? Emailing them is a total waste of time. I am waiting to hear back from them. I was just checking it today and some files I saved yesterday now show up but others don’t (on my hard drive) I haven’t a clue what is going on. When hubby did the previous install all my old saved files as well as the new were showing up and I was thrilled.

My husband installed the newest version of software 4.4.937 and I was delighted to find that files saved on my hard drive now showed up as a preview not the large S. This has always been a pet peeve of mine. Since I wasn't used to the newer layout of the screen of version 4 software I backed up to version 4.3.370 since it was to be the most "stable" of the newer versions. Now the thumbnails no longer show the previews. Which version has this feature? I have DE upgrade too. I have a Cameo 3. Thanks

I have a Cameo 3 and am up to date with whatever the current version is. Could you tell me which version you are using? Was it difficult to adjust to the new layout of the toolbars, etc?

I haven't posted here in quite a while because I haven't found much crafty at the flea market or Goodwill that wasn't Close to My Heart or Stampin up. My last time at the flea market this season I hit the motherload!
One seller was a crafter/seller purging her stash. Tons of beads, paints, stencils, scrapbook paper. Boxes and boxes full of supplies. I came away with several pads of TH paper, some cool botanical hand made paper, several large rubber stamps, rub-ons that still work and a stack of reprints from an antique magazine for $12. Then I bought a large box of vintage lay away tags for JJs. But the best deal of the day was the man selling a HUGE stack of BASIC GREY paper packs for $1 each!!!! The packs had 12x12 PP, 6x6 pads and embellishments. Yes, I bought almost all of it! I still can't believe my good luck. What a way to finish off a rather disappointing crafty thrifting season.

A question for any Peas still using a Cameo 3, which version of the software are you using? Hubby is planning on wiping computer and reloading everything. My latest version was an upgrade to 3.6.57 DE. That is no longer available on the Silhouette store. Which version would be the best to upgrade to and not have issues running the machine? I am not very computer savvy so any help would be appreciated.

Had to explain to a seller what the die cut machines she had (new in box) and the big box of Anna Griffin embossing folders/dies were used for. They had no clue. Then the seller across the aisle had an old but new in box cutter and tried to tell me it was worth $110. I said no way.

This is what I use, Magnetic dry eraser. I like that it covers a larger area and I can use both hands so I get good pressure on large and background stamps. This looks like it would be easier on my hands.

I use an old glass insulator. They were used on old electric poles. Glides over the platform. I have lots of those! Did you add felt to the bottom?

pas2 Do you remember which video Jennifer McGuire uses this in? I've never heard of it before and I'd like to see it in action. Thanks! All you seem to see is her grabbing it and rub it quickly over stamping platform. I had to look it up to see what she was doing. youtu.be/tDK2ulyuu78

I haven't tried this tool myself yet but it looks exactly like an air hockey striker, that you hit the puck with. I am not sure of the size comparison but I went looking on Amazon and found many to choose from. It looks like they are usually sold in sets, so if you have a crafty friend you could split the cost. I ordered a set. It should work the same I would think. Very economical as well! Hope this helps! I considered them but i need something with a larger grip

I tried making my own, although I went about it differently. I did not get as good results as the real deal. Stampin’ Up makes a good stamp platform, and it has multiple plates. The plates can be moved to create a pattern.. I have the SU platform, as well as the Tim Holtz version (I like the TH mini best, of the two by Tim). If you still want to make your own, Goop makes various glues that are tailored to what type materials you are trying to glue together. I haven’t used Goop before. Thanks for the tip.

I think she's talking about a tool you use with your stamping platform, like this. pas2 , I haven't tried one yet but have been intrigued because I hate stamping large/background stamps with my platform. I have to stand up to apply enough pressure. If you do make your own, please share the results! Yes , you’re rightI am talking about the tool to apply extra even pressure. Doing CPR with my hands is becoming painful. I thought about buying air hockey pushers but the handles are small and they are rather light.

I just looked into buying a pressure tool on etsy like the one Jennifer Mcguire uses. I was thinking I could make one using a domed glass lid from a storage jar glued to an old acrylic stamping block the apply adhesive backed felt. It would be easy to grasp (arthritis), heavier than plastic and the corners would work good to get closer to edges of platform. What do you think? Anyone make their own? Suggestions for which glue to use?

Most people can't wait for spring to arrive so they can start their gardens. I can't wait because outdoor flea markets reopen! They have forever ruined antique store/ebay shopping for me. I can't shop there anymore without thinking "if I'm patient I will find it eventually at the flea market/thrift store for much cheaper".

I went to Goodwill on Monday and someone’s paper crafting stash was donated. I spent $165 for over 170 stamp and dies including stacking dies. All major companies and brands. This woman had everything very organized too. Everything was in a sleeve with a label of the company and name of the stamp set. Just like how JM organize her stamps and dies. Was a major score! I always enter Goodwill dreaming of finding a stash like this. What a fantastic find!

Remember that big box of office stampers I found a while back at the flea market? Well, this weekend they were marked down and then the vendor offered me the whole box for less than a $1 each! Of course I said yes. She offered me vintage ephemera for $1 each too. My lucky day! Picked up a large SU background stamp and another large sentiments set at Goodwill. I have seen so many bags of stamps in the past three months. Attachments:

If anyone is in the market for SU stamp sets checkout the antique malls, Goodwill and FB Marketplace. I have seen soooo many for sale in the last few weeks.

Made my first ever altered book journal for my sil for Christmas. I included lots of spots for her to add photos and write. I picked vintage winter/Christmas postcards featuring only flora and fauna (no santas only elves and gnomes) as the theme. I thought the project would help me use up some of my huge PP stash, but no. I ended up scanning my PP to reprint on thinner paper. Never thought I would be looking for non-cardstock patterned paper!

I found a large rolodex with the larger sized cards at GW but haven’t started it yet. I do vintage collages on Memorydex cards and have a few dies that I got from AX. I also make altered playing cards. I never thought to incorporate my photos on them, have to give that a try.

Found a box of vintage office rubber stamps at an indoor flea market. They were more expensive than I would usually pay but I picked up a “bonded locksmith” stamper. I am tempted to return for some more, perhaps I can get a discount on the whole lot? Picked up a pile of cheap vintage paper for my collection and collaging/journals.

I think I have done all of the above mentioned techniques at some point and still do, except the burning. I have altered paper by sanding, painttng and stenciling too. My latest was using it to pull prints off my Gelli plate.

Had great luck at the thrift stores this week. Picked up 5 large wood mounted stamps, lots of aged paper and paper doilies for journals, A big bag of cardstock/ PP, a roll of kraft paper, postcards, books and even some antiques. Good thing I worked this week to pay for my shopping spree.

I had a mat that was like this years ago that I used for the Quickutz Epic. It warped also but would still cut most of the time. I prefer the Sizzix metal mat. I have been using the metal mat but still had problem with my top plates warping. I had it on top of my magnetic plate.

Which brand/size mat did you use? The brand name is Sew-ologie or something like that its their own brand and got the 6×8, depends on your machine you might have to cut it. I use a thicker chipboard for shim. I can take a picture when I get home. I tried making my own with this brand of mat. Could only find the 12 x 8 mat ($4.50 after coupon). Hubby cut it down for me cuz he knows I can't be around sharp blades. I used it with my Big Shot and shimmed it with 3 layers of heavy manilla file folder (it was handy). It worked like a dream with intricate dies on Bazzil. If I get the Sidekick on my Christmas list, I have enough leftover to make a mat for that too. Thank you for the tip.

Sometimes I like to just scan my picscan mat rather than use my phone. This has always worked well until now. Cameo lets me scan 1st half of mat but when I try to scan 2nd half the software aborts when I hit scan. Any ideas on what is the problem?
Silhouettes help desk only said update software ( response took a week). I have been avoiding that because I have a cameo 2 and version 3.75 DE (something like that) because it still used the old task bars that I am familiar with. If I must upgrade, then which version should I be using with my older machine?

An update is what I was afraid happened. I liked that it was a simple 2 step process rather than saving it first.

I have always used copy/paste to import images from Google Chrome directly to my Cameo. It is quick and easy. Yesterday was the last time I did this but today I can’t! What changed? Has anyone else experienced this problem?
