You are not crazy! You could use some of the collection now if you wanted to. You could take a photo of your daughter's lovie (or one of her with the lovie) and reflect on her childhood in your journaling. You could journal about who bought her the lovie, how did it become her favorite item, did she have any adventures that included her lovie, etc. Keep the rest for the future. Years ago there was a Girl Scout line from (I believe) K&Co that I was going to buy and talked myself out of it because my girls weren't yet in GS. Bam, they joined GS and I went looking for the paper and it wasn't being sold anymore. Please report back with your final decision.

The woman who developed BDT is Marsha Linehan, PhD and she wrote a memoir, "Building a Life Worth Living". She describes her own personal struggles and how she came about developing DBT. It's a great book.

My first thought was oh no, people are going to skim the article and think that DBT is not helpful and potentially harmful to teens. My teen daughter has benefited greatly from DBT and this therapy has had a profoundly positive impact on not only her but the rest of our family.
It was not designed for mass consumption in a classroom. It is intense and requires a commitment from the teen as well as the parents. My daughter went 4 to 5 days a week from 1.5 hours to 3 hours each day and I went to a weekly small group parent meeting. It was a doozy of a schedule. In addition to the small group DBT sessions, my daughter had individual as well as family therapy sessions. It is imperative that parents understand DBT so they can support their teen as well as understand them. The program is considered outpatient and was covered by our insurance. It lasted for 3 months (for my daughter) at which time she graduated and was placed in continuing care which is a once-a-week meeting where skills are reviewed. After graduation, parents also have the option to attend a once-a-month parent meeting.
Ugh, I have so many questions about the study. Were the people presenting the DBT trained in the therapy? How much training did they receive? What was the education level of the therapists? How did they adapt the teaching of DBT in order to reach 1,000 students. How much did the parents understand about DBT? Why did they include kids who didn't need DBT? So many more questions.
I hope this doesn't give DBT a bad reputation. It really is a beneficial therapy for my daughter.
As an aside, the author states that mindfulness is avant-garde. It's been around for thousands of years, and I would not consider it avant-garde.

I use Persnickety Prints. My last order was several months ago and the quality (to me) was great. They have recently changed their ordering system and I find it easier to order. I have a cart ready and waiting for me to purchase. Larger sized prints (12x12, 8x8, 6x8) will be on sale starting tomorrow (Wednesday). The sale will be 2 days.
I curious, what about the quality has changed?

I watched it with my daughter and we loved it. We both have a twisted sense of humor and we appreciated the dark and complex comedy/drama of the characters and story. I thought the actors were excellent!

The house is very much in the style of "Happy to be Home with the Benkos" link They are based in Summerville, South Carolina. Here is another article about the show: link I noticed at the end of the article there is a mention that the author lives in Massachusetts. I'm wondering if there is a connection.

I received an email this morning from Tuesday Morning that they are closing the remainder of their stores. If you have a gift card it will be good through May 13.
Some items are 30% off right now.
I really hate to see them go.
ETA: Some items, most stuff is 10% at the Tuesday Morning I went too, sorry for any confusion

I find that when something rings up wrong it's usually in the store's favor not mine. It's rare when something rings up under the tagged amount.

Nope!

I'm so sorry. Dealing with aging parents is a lot on its own. But with them being so far away it just exacerbates the situation. I was just talking to my mom the other day. We don't understand why so many people retire and then move to Florida where there is no family there. I've learned in my life that some people will make their choices despite others' opinions. And that's okay! Just don't expect me to be at your beck and call if it's going to disrupt my family and mental health well being. I mean, they did what was right for them at that time, so I get to do what's right for me at that time too. I guess in conclusion what I mean is that yes, do all you can for your out of state parents, but don't forsake your own family or health too much. Sorry if I sound like a cold hag, I'm just going through something similar and I think it's not fair that I have to endure stressful hardships for my parents' poor decisions. I couldn't agree more! After my dad passed, my brother, sister and I tried to talk my mother into moving closer to one of us. She refused. We would gently bring it up every so often but she continued to say, "no". We got it! She didn't want to leave her home that she had lived in for 55 years, her sister and her friends. We decided to get daytime in-home care (part-time), meals on wheels, life alert system, and we took turns checking in on her (via phone or visits). At first I worried but my brother made me see that if that's how she wants to live her life, then so be it. I do admit, she did not have significant memory loss but she was frail. I hope my kids listen to me one day (if I'm not a danger to others).

This is so weird. I literally just bought some from Shein and came over to 2PeasRefugees to do some reading! The ones I bought are not 3M. I had never seen them before and thought they were cool and different. Well, now I know they are not really that different!! Sticky Note
I just did a quick Amazon search and they also have them.

I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and was first put on a water pill and then lisinopril. My doctor recommended losing a little weight, cutting salt, exercise and yoga. I did all that he suggested, and it brought my numbers way down. He lowered the dosage of my meds and then took me off the meds completely. At first he saw me every 3 months then every 6 months.

The best TM is an hour away from me. They always had the biggest and best craft section. I was visiting my aunt yesterday who lives close to the TM. I drove right by without stopping even though I had plenty of time to do so. I knew they wouldn't have anything and it made sad (silly, I know).
Too bad for TM because I had two of my girls with me and I know they would have picked up some other stuff (fancy soaps, makeup storage, food items) had we stopped.

When I went looking for a primary care doctor I thought I would want a middle aged female, like me. I ended up with a fresh out of residency male doctor. I didn't think he would listen to me or take me seriously. I thought well I'll go to him until I can find what I'm really looking for.
He ended up being the best doctor I have ever had. I'm surprised at how much we have in common.
Many practices have a paragraph or two description of the doctor and it usually includes some information about their personal interests/hobbies. Maybe that would help.

I've been briskly walking to keep my blood pressure down and my body repays me with a Morton's Neuroma. Thank you to everyone who replied. I greatly appreciate it and I will try new shoes and pads. If those don't work I'll move on to a foot doc.

I was diagnosed last summer after switching shoes which were a bit too narrow for running. I would get stabbing pain between 2nd and 3 rd toe. Podiatrist wanted to do cortisone shot which I didn’t do. I joined a MN fb group, stretched diligently. And swear by metatarsal pads. After 2-3 my symptoms are all gone. I wear wider shoes and metatarsal pads. Width of toe box is very important. The toe box should let you spread your toes. Could you tell me what brand and type of metatarsal pads you use? I've looked on Amazon and found some that stick to the inside of your shoe and some that are incorporated into fabric which fits around your foot (not a very good description, I know!) Thanks.

I was recently diagnosed with Morton's Neuroma by my primary care doctor. He said to get orthotics for my shoes. The peas know everything so I have a few questions regarding Morton's Neuroma.
What is the best orthotic to get? Are custom fit orthotics from The Good Feet store worth it? Is it better to get custom fit ones from a doctor? Are ones off Amazon any good?
Is there any chance that Morton's Neuroma will go away on its own?
I would greatly appreciate any advice or information regarding Morton's Neuroma.
Thank you!

I was at my Dollar Tree yesterday and didn't see them but it's such a flipping mess they could have been hiding under a pile of random stuff. The Dollar Tree that is closest to me is always a gigantic disaster and so many people in the store wear their mask below their nose so I try not to go too often.

I find this whole subject of insurance/financial documentation fascinating. From what I have seen on Instagram their life looked so perfect, so organized, so "put together". It looked like everything I wasn't. I've come to realize that it's the stuff you can't really see (insurance/finances) that is important. Boring but important.

I doubt that this is the case here, but there are policies that can become “paid up” meaning no additional premiums are needed after a certain time frame. Hypothetically a parent could buy this type of policy on their baby but either never tell them or tell that at age 18 and the kid forgets. My dad bought a single premium whole life insurance policy for me when I was a teen. I'm 55 now and I still have the policy. I receive a yearly statement from the insurance company. It would be hard to forget that policy. I suppose if you move and don't complete a forwarding address change and change emails it could happen.

I have two Subarus (both Outbacks). My first one is almost 21 years old and my 18 year old daughter drives it. She loves it despite the rust spot. My family could be in one of their commercials. It's the car we used to bring her home from the hospital when she was born.
My other Outback is a 2008 and I love it. I bought it used from my brother. My next car will definitely be another Outback (although I don't need one right now).
I've only taken my Outback to a dealer once for work on it. Maintenance is done at a local repair shop.
I think I would be happy with any of the Subaru models.

tryingtobewise and elaine - I think you are both spot-on. Suggesting therapy is the responsible thing to do and finding a skilled therapist that connects with the client can be difficult (and expensive) to find. It does take research and time to find the appropriate therapist.

I signed up. It let me use my old sign in so it wasn't just for new subscribers as the screen implied. I've written down the number and made a note on my calendar for early December 2021. I don't want to wait until Christmas to have to call and try to get ahold of someone to cancel. I used my old sign in too and bought it for $5. But -duh- I don’t write down the phone number for cancellation. Would someone please share it with me?
