Prompt #3, Light! I'm posting this because of the snow, clouds, and now inversion we've had. I'm happy to see blue skies! Light! This is maybe a mile from my home. I took it from a country road. Inversions are a weird thing. I'll post what it's like at my home now in the next photo.

There are giant mountains behind that tree.

Great photos, refugeepea. We often get fog, even out here in the Prairies, in early December. I love the look of frosted trees, but they never appear as pretty in a photo as they do IRL. I was hoping to get a shot yesterday, waited for the sun to come around to that side of the house, and by then it was clouded over and everything just looked grey.

#12 Share. I stopped for a Tim Hortons coffee today, and picked up some gc’s there to share Tim’s with other people.

Prompt #8
ETA: I'm cheating and changing this to prompt #19 for texture. My son loved the texture of Santa's beard. So there you go.
Prompt#8, Spark. I'm taking a cue from Marie Kondo this year. Does it spark joy? I have a hard time with Christmas some years. This year, I'm really not feeling it and joined this challenge to help get me through this joyous season. Something to distract me and make it less hard. I've decided to be very selective about holiday celebrations for numerous reasons. We took my son to see Santa. Not because he believes or loves the man, because he needs to be more social (Autism). He has a thing for textures, specifically facial hair. He touched Santa's beard (it's real!) and gave him a kiss. My favorite part of the photo is Mrs. Claus. According to Santa, she had a former job working with special needs students. We went in, got photos, and got out with little issues. He's wearing a crocheted owl hat he didn't want to take off. Yes, that is a backpack with a dog leash. He runs faster than me and it was a small office with nice things. This photo has sparked a lot of joy.

Awwww, refugeepea , thanks for posting this photo. Your ds obviously sparked joy in the Claus couple as well! Good on you to collect the little snippets of joy when they occur. So much more rewarding than waiting to be hit by the mother load.

Two photos today. #14: paper. Took a shot of my wrapping paper before I put it away for the day. Will need it out later again. #24: More. These family calendars are something I work at all year. In November I have my scrapped pages copied, and then in December I assemble the calendars, attaching the prints of the pages and writing in all the relevant dates and information. I always feel happy to see those calendars hanging in my kids’ homes all year.

A couple more photos from yesterday: #17 Sound. These were the singers at last night’s church concert. I also have some close ups of the enthusiastic little guy and of one of the Ukrainian baba’s (who sang in their own language). #18 Unusual. Coming out of the church I saw this old log building decorated with pretty lights. My photo is not the best, but I think I caught the juxtaposition of eras: This is so much FUN, sleepingbooty . Haven’t scrapped a page so far this month, but having a blast capturing photos. Scrapbook Wonderland is running a Scrap Christmas in January class. At least I will have the photos!

#14, paper. Pretty Paper by Willie Nelson. Browsing Amazon music, and this took me back to my childhood. A lot of the Christmas songs I heard were by country singers. I've always loved the rawness and imperfection of his voice. We celebrate Christmas different than most when it comes to wrapping gifts and I'm currently not doing any Christmas pages. So here he is! I didn't take the photo and probably won't use it, but it's a reminder to make pages of the Christmas songs I love.

#4 sweet. What I lack in decorating, usually makes up for in taste! I experimented this year. Chocolate peppermint cream cheese cookies. These were made for my family and will not be shared. As you can see, I ran out of icing.

These 2 photos were staged by me. The first I used a blanket as snow, and used some of my son's stuffed reindeer. He is the baby's dad, and when he was little he used to sit in a box with his reindeer lined up like Santa. The second photo is one of my attempts to recreate a photo of myself taken with that same doll on my first Christmas. My grandmother gave me that doll in 1957 and it was already vintage. There is a photo of me sitting in front of the tree with the doll, which was almost as big as me.

#2. White. We had a couple inches of snow yesterday. Looking very Christmas. Not sure if you can see the mountains in the distance, but I took this pic from ds’s back deck near Calgary.

Prompt #17 Sound. Town light show. They have a temporary radio station you tune into every year. The theme song from Christmas Vacation
was playing in this photo.

#16 Technology
My daughter has Autism and Christmas causes her anxiety. She does not do surprises well. These are photos I sent her with technology while we were at Old Navy. She has sensitivity with clothes and wears fuzzy socks year round. She settled on buffalo check and the pink socks with the dog. Pajama bottoms were a no because "I don't like the flannel kind of stuff, that's like stiff, if that makes sense".
We also had a four way texting conversation about what candy books everyone wanted in their stockings. I got the mom and buffalo plaid socks as well as buffalo plaid pajama bottoms. Merry Christmas to me.

#7 Togetherness. We aren't doing any big gatherings this year. This is the togetherness we will be doing. This is my son and it is from the summer, but it's rare to get a good smiling photo of him! Hopefully by Dec. 25, I'll have something better.

#18
#18, unusual. Our theme this year is redneck/lazy decorating. That moostrosity reindeer thing was inherited from my husband's grandmother. The white tree is our official tree this year. My son likes the sounds the Coke bears make. In the theme of lazy decorating, I didn't want to put my iris cases on the entertainment center in another spot. I forgot to take a photo of the Styrofoam wreath with a twine bow.

#5 sky I'm sorry this is HUGE! My daughter took this photo and I'm using it! We've randomly had a crazy amount of birds come in our backyard and quickly fly away into our neighbor's tree. I've seen them drinking water from our trampoline frame. I thought they were an amazing contrast against the bright sky and our white fence.

Awesome photos, refugeepea: great capture of the holiday details! And your dd’s bird photo is AMAZING! If the clouds move off today I want to attempt that photo of the Big Dipper one of the longest nights of the year...

These photos fit several prompts for me. I adore her happiness in the 18th c. one I took today - it was so cold but her smile just warmed everyone. I love her dubious face eating her first Amish made sand tart, as though she knows it's delicious, but just not as good as our old family recipe tastes.

#15 Cheer - Hip Hip Hooray we cheer for DD's birthday
#16 Technology - We had to buy DS a laptop for school. I got a great deal on this one at the Black Friday sale. It was $200 more than the one they were offering through the school, so DS asked if we could pay the extra and make it his Christmas present.
#22 Storm or #5 Sky:
01 Inside Out. This is a photo of the Myer Christmas Windows display. Every year since 1956, there has been a Christmas themed display in the windows at Myer (a department store) in Melbourne. This year the display is Snugglepot and Cuddlepie, the Gumnut Babies, based on the stories by May Gibbs.
#04 Sweet - I made this Lamington Wreath with Berry Cream for our Christmas dinner with my dad and stepmom.
#07 Peace - The first thing I do on the weekend is make myself a cup of coffee and fire up the laptop to check out 2 Peas. It's a lovely peaceful start to the day.
#12 Share - I made a couple of batches of Mango Ginger & Chilli Chutney to share with my colleagues at work.
#13 Door - I printed out this welcome home message for DD that she would see as soon as she opened the front door, after getting home from 7 weeks overseas.
