I try to, but he has an annoying habit of turning on shows I'm interested in while I'm busy in another room so I miss episodes. He will also binge watch a show for hours when I'm not around and suddenly I'm three seasons behind (the kids hate when he does that too) and I never get time to go back and catch up.
There are a small handful of shows he will not watch without me under penalty of death though. When he kept turning on Gilmore Girls (so "I" could watch it) when I was in the kitchen cooking dinner he almost had a near death experience...

We do watch together, but we both like sports so it makes sense.
He also works until 7 when he works and then goes to bed by 830/900 and then I watch whatever I want

my BF and I do not live together, so we mostly do not watch TV together. But our TV tastes are very different, so the days he is hanging around my house, we are usually watching separately.

DH works very long hours and on the rare occasion he wants to watch tv, it's typically something i'm not interested in, like Formula One or hockey or tennis. Once in a while we will watch House Hunters International or a cooking show together. That may be part of it too. He is gone long hours too. Home at 7pm, does chores, eats, tv, sleep. My DH comes home for dinner around 6 or 6:30, has a short break and then usually works from home until 10:30 or 11. He's an academic with lots of responsibilities, and he LOVES his work. I sometimes think of it as his mistress. We're a one tv family too.

We used to when there were lots of comedies we liked. We just don't like the reality shows on tv. We still watch The Goldbergs, World News Tonight. He likes sports, car shows, and I like Lifetime movies! I don't watch tv as much as I used to.

As others have said, we watch together things we both like; football, for instance.
He watches news a lot; I attend some of that, but mostly I'm in the other room. Similarly, when I'm watching Poldark or etc., he is in the other room. We make it work.

I watch tv with him as little as possible. We don't like many of the same shows, and I don't like how he sits there and does a running commentary (usually critical) when we do watch the same show. I can tolerate most college football/baseball games with him, but that's it. I've found it much easier to just watch after he goes to bed.
We've just got one tv, but we both have large computer monitors (27") where we can watch HuluLive. I like to watch on my computer with my noise cancelling headphones. Blocks out the world and no commentary from the peanut gallery!

To be fair, I have a very limited selection of things I could watch. I don't watch anything with violence, suspense or dark themes. I generally like comedy or kids' movies or the news.
We DO watch some tv shows/movies together, and then DH watches the other stuff with DD (scary stuff, etc...) and I go off in my bedroom and watch the news.
We certainly don't agree on content, which is why we have 4 tv's in our home with 3 people living in it........

We don't watch tv shows together very often, but we do watch movies together. In some cases we don't watch the same shows. In other cases we do, but I watch the show right away and he sometimes won't watch it for days.

The only time he watches sports are if it's a playoff game--or Super Bowl/World Series and then I have fun watching those with him. We only have one TV and luckily, we like the same sorts of shows. He'll even watch stuff like "Downton Abbey" or "Grey's Anatomy" with me.

We have shows that we watch together and ones that we don't. We will normally watch tv during and after dinner together and then I'll go to the bedroom to watch some of my recorded shows while he watches in the living room a little longer before joining me.

We watch TV in the same room. I don't pay attention to the shows that don't interest me. There's probably 4 or 5 we both like. I've become more picky and he'll watch anything.

Yes. But, we each have shows that we watch alone and the other does not view. When I am gone on a trip DH records and watches shows he knows I would not like. After dinner we watch recorded shows that we both like, mainly to wind DH down before bed so that he can sleep. I'd sometimes be happier doing something constructive, but it's his downtime which he needs, so that's important to me too. He works too hard.

I was thinking about this the other day. We do NOT watch tv together. We have been married 36 years though. We just don't like the same things. He could sit and watch sports 24/7. I don't want to watch sports. I like a big variety. I feel like I just don't want to waste my time on watching things I don't want to watch. He watches TV in the living room, and I watch in our bedroom. Oh, we do watch the news together every night. I also sort of feel I don't need to spend all my time when we are home together...like..together. We can do our own thing. Yes, many things, actually.; sports, several tv shows and many movies including Hallmark and HGTV! Married 23 years.

We watch at least one show a night together. Before streaming, there was usually something on regular channels we liked but then there became less and less on network TV and we were doing more streaming of shows individually. A couple of summers ago DH was bothered by us not watching anything together so he suggested we find some streaming shows we liked and watch one thing per night. So now, we either watch a network show that we both like such as Young Sheldon on Thursdays or we stream something together. We just watched a couple of episodes of the Kominsky Method from Netflix. We still watch other things individually where our tastes vary.
Neither DH nor I like sports at all, except the winter Olympics.

Yes, we always have a show we watch together at night after the kids go to bed. I do have a few shows only I watch. I either stream them in the bedroom or on my phone, but mostly we watch stuff together or as a family.

We only have one TV. So if one is watching something, the other is usually “watching” too or playing on their phone 😂

Sometimes.
I usually watch in the TV room (a room off the entrance to our house, and he watches in the family room downstairs on a huge TV, if we are watching different things.
