eastcoastpea I didn't find any pyrex of the right size, but I did find a votive lamp to replace the one that broke in our move. It was sort of spendy, from one of those candle parties, and I love them so I was really glad to find this replacement AND it was half price day! Add to that a couple of Chinese lion (foo dog) statues and a vintage thermos to be used as a watertight geocache, and I'd consider the day a success. What a genius move to use a thermos to geocache. I never would have thought of it. I'm glad you had a good day. I'm sure you'll find a replacement bowl soon.

I always wonder what I missed out on. This is me! If I miss a week at my favorite thrift stores, I'm convinced I missed the bargain of the century! I had to run out to the store this afternoon, so I stopped by the thrift store. Picked up 3 pieces of fabric, including an Alexander Henry bandana print. Will most likely list a couple of those. Then I stopped by an estate sale I'd read about that had fabrics and craft supplies. Not much in the way of fabrics were left, but I did get some goodies! A large bag of buttons for $8, a small bag of craft kits for $5, a larger bag of craft kits for $8, a pair of Gingher 4" embroidery scissors for $9, and a vintage (1946) wooden weaving frame (Weave-It) for $5. That was an interesting find! The bags of craft kits turned out to have quite a few high end needlepoint kits, including all 12 of a 12 Days of Christmas ornament set! I will keep a small bluebonnet canvas, but list the rest of them. I'm sorting through the buttons and will keep some, but plan to come up with a grab bag of old buttons to list. There were a couple of interesting buttons cards. One of the button cards says "Made in Germany US Zone", which I had never seen before. Those are small black buttons with rhinestone centers. Someone asked about photos of my fabric haul. I took some of the vintage fabrics, but will have to get one later of the quilting and dressmaker fabrics. The vintage fabrics are all 36" wide. I had never seen Waverly Bonded Cotton before, but have dated it to the 1930's or 40's. That will become an apron most likely. The tiny blue floral looks/feels like feedsack, but is yardage. The other 2 will most likely become aprons as well. Also picked up some 36" wide flannel, but don't have a photo of that. ![]() That fabric is just too cute. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say we'd like to see pictures of the aprons when you make them. I've never seen buttons on the card saying Made in Germany US Zone. That sounds like a major score which I would be tempted to frame. Sounds like a great outing.

I always enjoy learning about what everyone is collecting. I don't "do" glass (other than Pyrex), so it is always interesting to learn about it. Never heard of Boopie/Candlewick glass before. If I start seeing it everywhere and buying it, I am going to blame all of you! Ha, I'm already blaming my Pyrex search on Peas! I've always liked "that glassware with the round balls"- so now I'll blame you for any Candlewick or Boopie purchases too.

This is my collection of Forest Green Glass that I inherited from my Mom. It is only part of what she had, my sisters and I split the collection. You can see my boopie glasses on the top shelf. I am always looking for more.

Last week I scored two great finds.
I'm a huge fan of Erma Bombeck and I found one of her books in perfect condition in a used book store for $4.99. Someone must have received it as a gift and never read it.
My husband and I have been looking for a table and chairs for our breakfast area for a long time. I wanted something that looked nice because our kitchen/breakfast area is open to our main living area. My husband's company has a classified ads section on their intranet and someone who is downsizing was selling a gorgeous pedestal table w/ a glass top and four beautiful solid wood chairs w/ distressed leather seats. The set was only two years' old and is in perfect condition. We paid more than I would normally pay for used furniture, but it was a fraction of the price we would have paid for the set if it was brand new.
