I would buy her a Starbucks hot chocolate and then give her a card if she accepts the drink. ? Mark me down as rude, I don’t accept drinks or food that I don’t like or can’t eat. I don’t accept drinks, because I don’t drink sugar and food? Well I don’t like most people’s Homemade stuff. So @megmc Why would you buy her a hot chocolate and then give her a card if she accepts the drink, when you state that you don't accept drinks or food that you don't like or can't eat. You don't accept drinks, SO, why expect this of the crossing guard? Care to explain? If she EXCEPTED the drink, I would give her a card the next day. She is under no obligation to except. Actually I would ask if she like hot drinks first.

I would not give chocolate and would not give a starbucks giftcard. I would give cash. Cash is so much better than a gift card, they can spend it on whatever they want. I think a lot of people would never use a Starbucks giftcard, and a lot of people don't eat chocolate. I honestly don't get the allure of gift cards, just give cash if you don't want to give a present. Most public school employees are not allowed to accept cash, on school grounds. I know a lot schools have ban giving teachers gifts. Interesting. Our crossing guards are employed by the city. Teacher/staff gift giving is totally allowed.

I'm sure she will appreciate any gesture you make towards her. I know I would, even if the gift wasn't something I love. It's very kind of you to think of her.
