This. All this. Perfect advice. I’m a huge fam of Genie’s Dream as well. I will also say that sugar cookies done well are delicious. Crazy4Scraps - Have you used the new Master Elite colors from Sugar Art? Makes making red and black SO MUCH easier without the bitter flavor you get with too much color. I highly recommend. I haven’t tried those yet. I bought the Artisan Accents colors at CookieCon a year and a half ago because they supposedly can be thinned for using in an airbrush with their dissolution solution and I haven’t been horribly impressed. I have some from Americolor and I’ve been using the Hobby Lobby super red and super black with good success. I just ordered a set of the Chefmaster airbrush colors to give to my BFF for Christmas and will see how she likes them. I’ll have to make a note to look for the Sugar Art colors when I go to CookieCon in February!

I have been watching videos and they are giving the same advice. I think I am over my head...yikes but I plan to still try. I'm glad you are going to give it a try! It's nice to know, going in, that it isn't as simple as it looks. But you never know until you try. I have seen some people who are really good from the get-go - and some who take a little longer to get cookies looking nice. But it will never happen if you don't try!

You can’t use the Master Elites in your airbrush. I’ve used other Sugar Art products (thinned with vodka) in my airbrush but not ME. They just released some new ME colors which I’m hoping to play with this week but I don’t know if the pallet will work with all the Christmas cookies I need to crank out.

I went in 2018 on a whim because my friend wanted to go. I’m just a hobby baker and it’s one of my creative outlets. It was expensive but even so I thought it was very worth my while to attend and I really learned a lot especially in the add on classes. I didn’t think the elite colors could be used in an airbrush due to the powdered format, but it would be neat to try it for regular royal icing. I have an airbrush but haven’t really used it much. My friend has used hers more which is why I got her the airbrush colors. She can figure it out and tell me how to do it, LOL.

Those cookies are adorable. But I don’t think an inexperienced cookie decorator is going to get anywhere near the same perfect results. Please don’t take that personally ... I am no kind of expert and would be afraid to try them myself. I would make something simpler for this year, and spend 2020 practicing for next year.
If I tried it, my result would be on that web site of "nailed it!"
Same here! I gave up on royal icing. There’s definitely a learning curve and the cookiers making these works of art have spent maaaaaany hours practicing.

To post your pix, you need to click on Add Attachment in the Reply window (in upper right). That’s in the regular browser, not sure how on the phone.
Your photo files need to be no larger than 1 meg. I email them to myself to easily resize them.

Those turned out delightful!!! You went at it with good confidence and your results are great. I need to follow your lead. I've been thinking it would be nice to make cookies and do some nice royal icing decorating. I've put it off because I'm "afraid" they won't turn out nice enough. I hate how my high expectations hold me back. I'll be thinking of you the next time I consider doing something but feel it's too "hard". Merry Christmas.

It helps to watch a lot of Video instruction and the Peas gave great advice. I plan to try more this weekend because it was fun.
