This afternoon I tackled my 2 recipe binders. They were getting a little messy. I tossed a lot and reorganized what was left. It's always nice to stay on top of clutter prone areas.

It felt really good leaving the big bags of "stuff" off at the church this morning. I didn't do any purging today, and I'm going out to lunch tomorrow, so probably won't get anything done this week or next week. I'm going to be out of town for a bit! Keep up the good work ladies!

We finished off some closets over the weekend. My husband's is completely done and he purged a good bit more than I even hoped he would. I think it helped that he could see how neat and organized his closet was shaping up to be at the new house and got on board with furthering that process.
At one point, debating about a pair of boots (that I have never seen him wear), I asked him was he keeping them to wear or was he keeping them because of nostalgia? He stood there with them in his hands for a few moments as I could see the wheels turning in his head. Then he said they could go. He's getting the whole mindset now. I feel like a mama bird watching her baby learn to fly!

Tomorrow is trash day and it looks like I'm on target to meet my fill the containers goal again. That is, if one of the kids is willing to bring some trash out. I am so cold I just can't get warm no matter how much I layer up.
I deleted hundreds of emails yesterday. That took a large chunk of time.
So far I'm maintaining the things I have done and that is progress.

Finally managed to declutter the drop zone in the kitchen which has been piling up since Christmas. Managed to get through a months worth of mail and caught up on bills. Every little bit helps. Goal next weekend is to finally put away all the things I threw in a large basket because they weren’t where they belonged.

Last night I went through a large desk drawer. Nothing thrown away but tidied up.
I also went through some Christmas bits and pieces of cards to see what I should save to make tags. I did more of the Christmas sorting tonight as well. I actually recycled half of it.
Bagged up vintage Christmas decorations my sister bought me for Christmas, and they're now ready to go into box.
I went through a stack of CD's to check for scratches. Tossed some, and some being donated.

It looks like lots of you are making good progress this month! I've not posted lately because the only progress I've made is to add a t-shirt that shrunk to the donation bag. For the past 10 days I've been dealing with a major gout flare in my foot. Between not sleeping well at night and the pain, I just haven't been in the mood to deal with clutter. I have cleared out several hours worth of recorded tv due to being laid up, so I guess there's that! Last night I finally slept well and was able to walk almost normally today, so hopefully I've turned the corner and can get back to decluttering next week.
Keep posting everyone! Love to see all the new faces and all the progress that's being made!

I've maintained my email inbox, deleting ads and whatnot everyday. I'm determined to not let it pile up again.

I took the week off to tackle some cleaning and decluttering. I have other things to do so I set a goal to spend two hours per day on the cleaning projects. I'm simply amazed at how much I can get done in two hours. My eldest son has a crawl space in his bedroom and he used it as a fort/junk collection. I cleared everything out and sorted into donate, trash, recycle and separated the LEGO out. I looked down at my stop watch and it took 58 minutes. I have been dreading that project since he started college in August and it was FIFTY EIGHT MINUTES! I waste more time on Two Peas in a week. I wonder what else I can do with the other hour today!!

Since I am out of town, and can't get back to decluttering until February, I do have my laptop with me, so yesterday I decluttered my hard drive. I had a BUNCH of digital kits in my download area that wasn't extracted yet. I extracted everything and then deleted everything in my recycle bin. I have much more room on my hard drive now. Today I plan to move everything to my external--if there is room on the external I brought! If not, that task will have to wait until I get home.

Last weekend we gathered several bags to take to thrift store. This weekend I am going to get them from the door to the car and hopefully to donate. Might declutter recipe binder that sounds do-able and satisfying! Might start gathering up tax stuff but maybe just sort paper/mail clutter first.

I need to go through my recipes too. I get so stressed coming up with meal plans, so that would help. I may work on it during the super bowl.

I don't enjoy going through pictures at all. I take way too many, then don't delete so it's overwhelming. I should do a month a day.
I had Picassa on my old computer, but they don't have it anymore, so can't put it on new computer. My pictures are on my new computer, but I can't find them. My husband is so busy with work, so he can't help me for a while. So I may delete from old computer, then re add to new computer when he has time.

Does it count if I took my MIL's purged items to Goodwill?
It's been piled in her entry for 2 months. I couldn't stand it, lol.

I took a load of items to Goodwill Thursday. They were things that had been sitting around in my craft room for a long time. Felt good to get them out of there.

Every time I think my house is organized, I find more areas that need help or old ones that need to be reorged!
This month I did:
-cleaned out both pantries, threw away a garage bag of expired food, reorganized them, wrote a list of staples for the wall so we don't buy duplicates, and bought new items to replace the expired items -cleaned out both fridges, threw out a small bit of food, wiped down the shelves, and reorged them so the BBQ sauces and chili sauces are now in the outside fridge (so now we have all the condiments in the door of the main fridge where they belong) -went through grandson's toys and got rid or put back in the attic toys that were too young for him -downloaded and orged 6 months of photo photos
To do: -finish cleaning up all the leaves in the backyard and make the men repile the wood/scrap pile -organize the Xmas items in the attic better (we just threw everything in there) -clean out the garage....again! -set up my office space and start selling stuff on ebay -mildly thin out scrap supplies and donate

I went through the main food cabinet. It's hard to keep it organized because I can only reach the bottom shelf, and not even all the way to the back.
There is another food cabinet but it is super small and oddly shaped. I only use that one for cereals, breads and baking supplies.

I made it through three large boxes of scrapbook and sewing stuff that’s been in storage for 2.5 years. Tossed a bunch of unfinished projects I’ll never finish, and refilled one of the boxes with stuff to get rid of. I use to scrap my nieces a lot but now I’m a boy mom so don’t need as many flowers and butterflies. I was excited to find all of my holiday embellishments. I knew I hadn’t got rid of them but had no clue where they had gone!

Just spent a little time in the sewing room. I had a real mish mash of command hooks in there, so I took them all down and put up new, larger ones that all match. These are used to hang rulers/yardsticks and projects in progress that I put on pants hangers. Had enough left over so I redid the hooks in the broom closet. I also reorganized my rag bag and basket that holds cleaning cloths. Tossed a few things, every little things count. I also filed all the papers that have come in over the past couple of weeks. It took me less than 5 minutes, something I need to remind myself when I'm tempted to put it off for months! Much better to do 5 minutes worth of work every few weeks, than a couple of hours once a year! **GypsyGirl** I hope your foot feels all the way better very soon. Sorry you had to deal with that pain. **GypsyGirl** , I hope your flareup ends quickly. I hear that's pretty incapacitating. Thank you! I am getting there. Wed night was the first night I was able to sleep through the night. Thankfully the nighttime pain is pretty much gone. The joint is still extremely tender and a bit swollen, but I was able to wear something beside a slip on sneaker today! Just have to pace myself and not try to do too much.

Organized under kitchen sink without even having to buy container. I saw a really nice one and started to go buy it but decided to see what I could do with an Amazon box I had in the garage and it looks great. I think it wins the "most improved" prize. I had to tie up a bunch of tubes that go to water filter but nothing to discard under there.tip Took a load to goodwill and got 20% off on a happy birthday stamp. I'd been wanting one for cards.

Decluttered a ratty set of sheets and a couple of pen refills.
Nothing but homework this weekend. I feel cheated.

I reorganized the kitchen food cabinets. Nothing expired, just putting like with like & writing a grocery list.
I also vacuumed the whole downstairs, plus the staircase. And dusted.

Forced to gut the kitchen today. We had a small mouse problem, the trials and tribulations of living in farm country. Set traps and caught 3 but none for the last 2 days so I’m now disinfecting all the plates, cups, and utensils. They like to crawl up the drain pipe and into the backs of the utensil drawers. Bleh! So while we were at it, DH and I purged the cup cabinet and the shelf that housed tea. I have a bowl I use for compost and we filled it twice with old coffee and tea, dumped that in the compost bin. Purged about a dozen cups and a ton of lids to reusable Starbucks cups. Just waiting on DS23 to go through his pile of cups. Also cleared the shelf where the electric kettle sits and made all that look a lot nicer. DS19 went through the coffee in the pantry and pulled old stuff. Then I was able to put the nespresso pods in pockets on the pantry door.
Tomorrow I will tackle the utensil drawers and wash the drawers out so I can put everything back. Also organizing the junk drawer while I disinfect that too. We have random padlocks but no keys, it’s time to toss them because I’m tired of looking for keys.

I went through one food cabinet in the kitchen. I tossed the specialty seasonings and mixes.
The freezer is super clean and the fridge is clean as well.
I'm finding that emptying out my purse every day or two is helping me cut down on paper clutter.

You all have inspired me! Went through part of the food pantry and got rid of expired items. We have been working on eating what we have, but still have too much food. At least we can see it all better now and making lunches will be much easier!

really haven't gotten rid of much at home beyond 3 pairs of jeans that are now too big for me - but I was out of state working on my mum's house for three weeks...
50+ BOXES of books were donated to her local library book shop (this was round two - we donated a similar number in December as well). 30+ big (black) bags of clothes and household items were donated to Big Brothers Big Sisters (in addition to even more donated in Nov and Dec).
Recycling bin was filled to overflowing four times with magazines etc....it's a big bin (like a wheeled trash bin - maybe65 or so gallons)
We filled the bed of a pickup truck five times with trash (it'll be incinerated) and my BIL took probably 100lbs of papers to shred.
Hopefully all that counts for something (and please don't look at the 36 boxes of stuff I brought back here - a good chunk of which is photos/slides/papers/letters that I'll digitise but not keep all of off after digitising).

Wow Linda! That's quite a bit of progress ya'll made. Does this finish up the clean out, or do you have to go back up there? My progress has been minimal the last couple of weeks. Monday I managed to overflow the laundry room sink, flooding the laundry room, sewing room and part of the kitchen/breakfast area. The water also got into the 3 cabinets under the sink. Several things I was keeping for no reason got soaked and were tossed. The floors are really clean, as are the 3 loads of towels it took to clean it up. Have been deleting computer files when I have the chance, and tossed the Christmas cards/envelopes. I should be back up to full speed by the first of the week from my foot, so I plan to tackle another section of the guest room then. Hard to believe that January is nearly gone!
