Oh my, I did not know this. I use them all the time in my front loader machine. I guess I will start putting them in a mesh bag. Thanks for taking one for the team but sorry it was so expensive!

I did not know this. I've had a front loader for 20yrs, I use a color catcher when I wash my quilts, and on occasion in other loads. I've not had any problems. Thanks for the info, I guess I've never read the box, or didn't see that .

Several people have asked what Colour Catchers are. Try asking Google. Very useful for finding any kind of information! 😂 Well, to be fair, several people may have asked - about 8 years ago though so hopefully they're not still wondering.

Never heard of them. Sounds like just one more thing that ends up in the landfill.
Front load washers are the worst. We have one rn that came with our FL house and I'm shopping to replace it. Someone else in the area wants my front loader, so easy swap.

Another reason not to buy a front loader. I love color catchers for new clothes.

Never heard of a color catcher. To be honest I don’t have a problem with my clothes bleeding in the wash.

I'm very invested in keeping the front loader that will be delivered on Friday happy, so this is timely for me as I have a box of color catchers waiting to wash a quilt I finished in November. I will be putting them ALL in a mesh bag and making an offering to the laundry gods before washing it in the new machine.

FWIW, I reuse the color catcher sheets until they are dark, dark in color.
I also toss in 2-3 with a load of clothes that has anything red in it. 1 is not enough --yes, you can guess how I know.

Did you know you aren't supposed to use color catchers in front loading washing machines? I didn't, and it cost me $250 today! I'm mad at myself. I should say here that you CAN use them, you just have to use them differently. It says on the color catcher box that in order to use it in a front loader you need to put it in a delicate mesh bag. I just never read the back of the box. Turns out they can get down into the drain and break the drain pump. Cha-ching. Thought I would put my stupid mistake out there in case anyone else uses color catchers in front loaders. I just honestly never realized that things (other than tiny things) could get through the drum and down into the drain. Lesson learned. I only know this because of a quilting group I belong to. I’ve been tossing them in my new front loader for months before I found out. For those who don’t know,Color Catchers look like pieces of paper you put in with your laundry to absorb and colors that bleed. We quilters swear by them. I didn’t realize this was an old post when I commented on it. That’s weird. I wonder what the purpose of bumping it was other than being snide.

Ok I have no idea what a color catcher is - never heard of that term (and yes realize this is an old thread) - I guess I will google!

If a color catcher can do that, I’m really glad we don’t have a front load bc my dh ALWAYS leaves things in his pockets.

This may be an old thread but I had never heard this. I have only used them a few times but hope if I do again that I will remember to use a mesh bag.

ETA: Sorry for adding to the old revived thread but I was wondering... Are these made differently between the US and other parts of the world? Ours do not mention anything about putting them in mesh bags. Just put them in at the back of the machine (front loader shown), add your clothes and detergent, start your wash cycle. Going by the packaging, Color Catchers and Décolor Stop are the same brand.
