Somebody on my Facebook feed posted this, and I wanted to share it - but is there any truth to it? None of these millionaire evangelicals has donated any money? I don't know that they HAVEN'T donated. They may have done so quietly. I do know that Jesus was vomit if he knew pastors were sitting on that much money while so many in the world were mentally and physically hurting. That's why I hesitate to repost it. My Aunt & Uncle are evangelical, I know they are huge Billy Graham fans. My Uncle is a pastor. But this mega church shit is insane. I don't know how these pastors seriously sit on that much wealth and ask their poor followers to keep tithing even in this crazy situation.....

How many more stories like this will we see before this is all over? death of Bishop Gerald O. Glenn of the New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Chesterfield, Va., was announced during Easter services. "A Virginia bishop who defied warnings about the danger of religious gatherings during the pandemic and vowed to keep preaching “unless I’m in jail or the hospital” died over the weekend after contracting Covid-19, his church said. The bishop, Gerald O. Glenn, 66, the founder and pastor of New Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Chesterfield, Va., died on Saturday night, according to Bryan Nevers, a church elder. " www.nytimes.com/2020/04/14/us/bishop-gerald-glenn-coronavirus.htmlNo matter how much you believe you can safely go out of your house by the 3rd floor window instead of the front door, physics gonna physics. No matter how much you believe you're "protected" or "blessed", viruses gonna virus. You can believe whatever you want, but you can only ignore reality at your own peril. I hope people start to learn this during this pandemic.

Yep. Totes the same to be asked to stay home as to be gassed in concentration camps. Equal.

Thoughts and prayers, my dude. "E nd Times pastor Jim Bakker closed out his television program today by begging viewers to financially support his ministry using checks, as his network has reportedly been unable to process credit card transactions ever since it came under fire for promoting the silver solution it sold as a cure for the COVID-19 coronavirus. After Right Wing Watch reported that Bakker used a show in February to suggest that the silver solution could kill the coronavirus and heal those who have been infected, he was warned by the New York Attorney General’s office to stop “making misleading claims” about the product and also was ordered by the Food and Drug Administration and the Federal Trade Commission to “immediately cease making all such claims” about the effectiveness of the silver solution. On top of that, Bakker was also sued by the office of Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt “for misrepresentations about the effectiveness of ‘Silver Solution’ as a treatment for 2019 novel coronavirus.” Bakker said on his show today that all of these legal problems have caused credit card processing companies to cut off his ministry, and so donations can now only be accepted via check. “Some of the biggest companies have come against us,” Bakker said. “Right now, you cannot use a credit card … You can give by check. That’s the only way you can give right now.”" www.rightwingwatch.org/post/desperate-times-for-jim-bakker/

The Mormon schools are also receiving a large chunk of the money earmarked for colleges and universities, over 50 million, even with the 100+ billion in their “rainy day fund”. WWJD, truly.

How horrible to sit on that much money and still have your hand out to take away money that others need MUCH MORE.

I admit I’m confused. Apparently, the same people hate Jews and blame them for pretty much everything, but also hate Obama for his friendly dealings with “ enemies of Israel”.

I admit I’m confused. Apparently, the same people hate Jews and blame them for pretty much everything, but also hate Obama for his friendly dealings with “ enemies of Israel”. Yeah, what lucyg said. To many evangelicals, the Jews aren't people. They're just a means to the end of rapture. "“What kick-starts the end times into motion is Israel’s political boundaries being reestablished to what God promised the Israelites according to the Bible,” Pastor Nate Pyle told Newsweek in January. This is not an uncommon view. The LifeWay poll found that 80 percent of evangelicals believed that the creation of Israel in 1948 was a fulfillment of biblical prophecy that would bring about Christ’s return. That meshes with a poll conducted by the Pew Research Center in 2003. Pew asked respondents whether the existence of Israel fulfilled biblical prophecy. About a third of Americans said it did — while more than 6 in 10 evangelicals agreed. (So did more than half of black respondents.)" www.washingtonpost.com/news/politics/wp/2018/05/14/half-of-evangelicals-support-israel-because-they-believe-it-is-important-for-fulfilling-end-times-prophecy/Because life is a gift from god, yet they can't wait to stuff it in the bin and move on to heavenland billions raised to the trillions of years.

View AttachmentI fell asleep sunday with the TV on. I woke up around midnight to Joel Osteen talking about how he was protected from the virus, because God. ( yes that paraphrasing but that’s was the gist of it ) Well I couldn’t find the remote fast enough to shut off the TV, before I woke my neighbors yelling at the TV ‘ no asshole, your protected from the virus because of the billions you’ve bilked from your followers ‘

Oh geez that’s the second time I woke the dog because I laughed loudly tonight. I snort giggled at this so loudly. The first time was at Stephen Colbert tonight & his the president tweeting immigration policy change is equivalent to if Obama had announced the killing of Osama bin Laden on tik tok and then of course they had made a ‘Tik tok’ of it. I am tired enough that it hit me as hysterical and I couldn’t stop laughing. So loudly I think the dog thought I was broken.

"Louisiana pastor Tony Spell wore a court-issued ankle bracelet while defying a statewide stay-at-home order to host a packed church service on Sunday during the coronavirus pandemic. The Pentecostal preacher of Life Tabernacle Church in Central led services inside the church and sought donations to his legal defence despite being placed on house arrest after refusing to tell a judge whether he would continue to lead services at the church. Pastor Spell was arrested and jailed on Tuesday after allegedly threatening to run over a protester in a church school bus. He has disputed the protester's account and claimed his innocence. His wife Shaye posted his $5,000 bail later that day. A condition of his release is that he "refrain from any and all criminal conduct, including but not limited to strictly abiding by the all emergency orders" issued under Governor John Bel Edwards' stay-at-home measure. He told his congregation on Sunday: "God gave you an immune system to fight that virus ... Come out of your hiding, America.""www.independent.co.uk/news/world/americas/coronavirus-louisiana-pastor-church-service-house-arrest-tony-spell-a9484881.html

The number of daily confirmed cases in the US had plateaued for a while, but have gone back up in the past couple of days. I wonder if we’re now starting to see the results of family get-togethers and church services that were held over Easter?

... aaaaand Trump starts pushing this nonsense conspiracy theory in 3, 2, 1 ... (You’d think Alex Jones would have learned his lesson with the Sandy Hook case, but apparently not. Let’s hope one of his crazed followers doesn’t actually go after Bill Gates and attack him. Nice reward for a guy who puts his billions into trying to improve global public health.)

Re millionaire pastor donations... Back in the day, when I worked for faith-based organizations, we were privy to industry info otherwise unavailable. I am cynical, but even I was shocked when we learned that the vast majority of American churches give ZERO dollars to ANY form of charity. That includes zero dollars to support any needy individual. The money in the vast majority of American churches goes to pastor and staff salaries, buildings, and capital improvements.l
It is not about serving god or people. It is about the acquisition of wealth.
I now look at churches as stores selling a service for which people are willing to pay. The services are sold tax free. The city also does not collect taxes on the land even though they take services and apply pressure on city officials for their own benefit.

"During an online bible study this Sunday, right-wing activist and president of Abiding Truth Ministries, Scott Lively, said that Christians need to establish their own underground railroad to escape the burgeoning “beast government” in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. “We need to be establishing a network of believers everywhere that can operate in an underground fashion,” Lively said in a video clip flagged by Right Wing Watch. “Because if this thing continues in the trend that it seems to be, we may be evolving here at a revolutionary speed [and] entering into an emerging Beast government.”" deadstate.org/pro-trump-activist-christians-must-use-violence-as-appropriate-response-to-lockdown-orders/

This is such an interesting pic. Do you see how his wife has a smaller/shorter chair to appear lower/smaller than him, and she is placed beside him but further back? It's the pastor's submissive wife position. I hadn't seen that in awhile but recognized it immediately. Fascinating. Not in a good way. Sorry - carry on with the discussion.
