Because my youngest grandson is now in school full time it was the first time in many years there wasn't a little boy waiting for me at the bottom of the escalator when I arrive in CT yesterday It was rather bittersweet but I did get my hugs when the school bus dropped them off DD and SIL had a day trip planned for today so I'm here alone with the dogs. I just put a banana bread in the oven for the boys to have after school this afternoon and plan to make roast beef, mashed potatoes & gravy and roasted carrots for dinner tonight. What's cooking tonight at your place?

Wow I wish my mom would take over the cooking duties when she visited. I have pork chops in the crockpot. Not sure what I will serve with them yet.

Roast beef sounds good I've been through my freezer today, finally getting around to making a list of all the stuff that's in there and some stuff definitely needs using soon so tonight it's reheated chilli

I think we're having leftovers. The refrigerator is full of them and my brain isn't working well enough to think of anything more creative than that.
I want to eat dinner at peaname's house tonight!

I really like doing it because we live so far apart I don't get to have them over to my house for dinner like I do my DD who lives close to me. I love meal planning, grocery shopping and cooking so it's my way of spreading my love around Sometimes I do almost all of the cooking and sometimes DD does most of it but I like helping them out when I can and cooking is my "thing" Have you asked your Mom if she'd mind doing some of the cooking when she's there? Maybe she's hesitant it'd overstep her bounds. Maybe if you ask her to make something you loved that she cooked when you were growing up?

What a wonderful Grandma you are - walking in the house to the smell of banana bread and roast beef - doesn't get much better than that.
We have soccer tonight, which means a quick and easy dinner for us of multi-grain, bean and olive salad.

My mother is very happy to be waited on when she visits lol. Trust me when I say cooking isn't her thing. Thankgoodness I take after my grandmother!

Chicken and biscuits. It's like chicken and dumplings, but you make biscuits to go on top of the chicken soup/stew, rather than adding dumplings. DH asked for it and since I have buttermilk in the fridge I want to use before it goes bad, it's a no brainer.

Akathy, I want to be just like you when I grow up What a great Mum and Grandma you are! I'm not sure what's for dinner. I've been helping out making baby shower decorations with friends today, and have only just got home. I think we may have fish and chips tonight - unfortunately from the freezer, I'd much prefer them from a good old British chippy

It's gray, windy & rainy in NY today. I made a huge pot of Cheesy Ham & Potato Chowder. It has bacon & corn in it. I have to say, it's reallllly good. We are having it with buttered French bread slices.

I think I will slice up the roast of Sunday I have been avoiding . Make some macaroni Some broccoli.
I am not feeling well, so fixing a meal sounds yucky. I just want jello and mandarin oranges.

Update (because I'm sure everyone is dying to know my plans): my sister called and wangled a dinner invitation. So now I have ground beef and torta rolls defrosting, and we'll have sloppy joes and I guess the remaining orange cauliflower and maybe I'll throw some peas in with it, too. Because anything to avoid making a salad. (Ask me why I keep buying lettuce??)

Wow I wish my mom would take over the cooking duties when she visited. I have pork chops in the crockpot. Not sure what I will serve with them yet. That's what I was thinking too, can akathy be my mom or MIL she always makes the best meals Today is our 17th anniversary so I didn't take anything out for dinner, I'm guessing we are going out to eat
