That's interesting. part of my job involves counting inventory of various items in stores, and I noticed the hostess display at walmart was almost empty, but didn't equate it with coronavirus stockpiling. the empty bleach and cold medicine shelves were more obviously connected.

Haha, no but I love the cupcakes! Our area has only sold out of hand sanitizer, hand wipes and rubbing alcohol. So I don't feel the need to stock up at this point. We have no extra storage space, so I only get enough food for a week (but we have junk food). I think in our area, people have been more panicked about the local pro team losing 6 straight games than they are about an virus or flu going around!

I bought a couple muffin mixes and pudding mixes. Figure something easy and a treat might be nice. Yes could make from scratch but instant pudding is so much easier. I was thinking getting a few comfort foods will be good but not sure what.

We stock up on odd things like pretzels, lifesavers, suckers, fruit snacks, and pop. Girl scout cookies are too expensive to stock up on. We only have two boxes and probably won't buy more. I'll take the Keebler grasshopper cookies as a suitable substitute.

As an adult, they are more nostalgic than good tasting.

Its funny--when I was in Costco this morning, I almost put a box of Ding Dongs in my cart--they looked so good and I love them frozen--but I did resist. I might have to go get some tomorrow....

Trust me. There’s a little stash of chocolate and various other items that qualify as “junk” tucked away in my closet. If a quarantine happens in my home, I'm going to need Diet Coke and chocolate.

As an adult, they are more nostalgic than good tasting. That’s because they changed the recipe when they were bought out after going bankrupt several years ago and now they are NASTY! I bought a box of Twinkies for my kid a couple years ago thinking she would like having something I liked as a kid. I ate one and it was horrible and nothing like I remembered. I think she ate one and we ended up tossing the rest of the box because they were so gross. I will neither confirm nor deny that there may or may not be 5+ boxes of Girl Scout cookies squirreled away in my house. I also just got back from a short road trip recently and there may have been leftover Twizzlers, Pringles, cookie dough flavored marshmallows, Stroopwafels, and Oreos that I brought back. Oh, and I’ve barely cracked into the box of Valentine chocolates that DH gave me. I think I’m pretty well set for just about any type of emergency situation that could come up.

I keep reading the updates on that Costco cake thread and I have to force myself to not buy one! They’re so big, DH isn’t a big cake guy, we have no available freezer space and we wouldn’t be able to eat it before it got dried out and sad so I just have to resist.

I understand no room in my freezer right now but for future use they do freeze pretty well. We buy for parties and then freeze in large slices. They still taste good when defrosted.

We overbought their cupcakes for an anniversary party we hosted for our 25th several years ago. I froze the extras and wrapped them really well. I ate the last one about 14 MONTHS later and it was still perfectly good! We usually get our beef a quarter or a side at a time and we recently restocked, so there really is no room in any of our freezers (and we have two of them). Even our extra refrigerator freezer at our lake cabin is full. I keep telling myself I should just get a small pack of cupcakes from Target or the grocery store and make that work until I have an actual reason to buy a Costco cake, LOL.
