We finished the first season of The Bay. Tomorrow we'll start the second season. Great show! We thought for sure it was Sam's dad who got Holly pregnant. He always acted suspicious. Red herring I guess!

We started season 2 of The Bay and finished season 2 of Reacher. Can't wait for season 3 but will be sad that it will be with completely new people except Reacher. I liked this season's cast.

We just finished the second season of Reacher as well. I really enjoyed it, but I preferred the first season. Possibly because I liked having a stationary town where most things took place, and this season the only constants were the characters, I think I also just liked the characters in the first season more. I am hoping Neaghley is a character that continues through the seasons but the latest write-up I can find has basically no information about Season 3, save that it started filming in December.
Now I’m trying to decide if I want to start a new series, finish Ted Lasso, or just wait until baseball.

Do you mean “The Holdovers”? I haven’t seen it yet, but keep hearing good things about it. I woke up this morning and realized I had written it wrong! There was a show called The Leftovers several years ago and it was really good! The other day I downloaded a free trial of Disney+ just to watch The Bear. I binged the first season and sorry, I don’t feel it’s as great as it is hyped up to be. Some of the characters are so inconsistent (I can’t stand Richie) and some situations are just a little far-fetched. It’s loud and chaotic with all the yelling and banging of pots and pans. Really gets on my nerves. But that’s just me 😄 I’m hoping season two is better but I’m going to cancel my subscription regardless since there is really no other content that appeals to me. eta… I just finished season two and it was much better than season one IMO. More character and storyline development. Quite enjoyed it!

I'm really enjoying Hidden on Prime. Police procedural set in Wales, three seasons. Caveats: it is very slow, but extremely well done and acted, and spoken Welsh is intermingled with English. I always watch with subtitles because I can't always understand the English. I really like how we get to know more about the characters as the season unfolds, and characters from previous seasons make appearances, but aren't part of the current drama--just more of a check-in.

The books have a new cast each book because he moves around. Every once in a while he will connect back with an old character. I like that because the stories are all different. The first season was exactly a Reacher story. I enjoyed this 2nd season but not as much as the first. It got unbelievable a few times like when he was hanging off the helicopter hanging onto to the gurney. The book Reacher doesn't need that unbelievable stuff to make it exciting. I hope season 3 goes back to using his wit and strength in a realistic believable way.

Did anyone else watch Red Rose? I scrolled back several pages and didn't see it mentioned. It's a British show set in the north, and involves a group of teenagers who interact with an app that seems to both promise them popularity and beauty and persuade them to do terrible things. It's not a perfect show -- it gets pretty chase-y in the last few episodes, and I'm not sure they ever really explain how the app works -- but I enjoyed the characters and the scenery, and there are some genuinely good twists.

We finished Fool Me Once on Netflix. There was a separate thread about this that I waited to read and now I can't find it.
We also watched the last season of Fargo on Hulu. I couldn't do the 4th season (Chris Rock starred in it). They are all violent but it was too much. The first one, with Billy Bob Thornton, is still the best. However, the acting in this last season is so good and I like how it ended.
I also watched Wellmania. on Netflix. Comedy set in Australia. Enjoyable if you don't mind a cliffhanger that won't get resolved. The show was not renewed.
We are now watching Special on Netflix. 15 minute episodes. I wanted something easy to watch after some heavy dramas.

OMG, I know right?!?!?! I was so annoyed / sad! But I should be used to it, they always kill off favourite characters in British TV shows. Damn you Old Blighty!

And why didn't anybody tell me that my girlfriend, Michelle Keegan, was the lead character on Fool Me Once? I would have started watching long before now had I known that.
I LOVED her in Our Girl.

I just watched American Nightmare. I am just dumbfounded by the police’s response. But also how the female victims were always blamed by the police for their attacks. This was done so well, but was so infuriating watching how they were treated by police and media.

We watched the 1st episode of The Woman in the Wall on prime but it’s actually a showtime show. It’s Irish. We really like it. My dh says he’s not getting another app to keep watching but I just might.

I watched an incredible movie on Netflix called The Society of Snow. It's in Spanish (with subtitles) of the 1972 plane crash in the Andes of the rugby team that was made famous with the book Alive and the 1993 film. I adore survival books and films. I've loved them since I read the book Alive as a teenager in 1974 (I was 14 and still have the copy of my book from back then). I loved the film Alive with Ethan Hawke when it came out in 1993 and have watched it several times. I didn't know anything about this film when I came across it the other night and decided it give it a try. I was blown away. It is so amazing!
Turns out it is by the same director who did the film The Impossible about the tsunami that took place in 2004. That's my favorite film of all time. If you haven't seen that one I highly recommend it. It's also playing right now on Netflix.
After watching Society of the Snow I found a documentary about the making of the film. That was incredible to watch-how they made it. This director has now become my favorite director. His name is Juan Antonio Bayona. It was so touching to watch both the documentary and the film. I've read several books about the plane crash. The original book Alive, and then 2 books written by the survivors. I cried watching both films and the documentary. I am not a person that cries watching films or reading books. I recommend all three of these.

We finished Shelter, a Harlan Coben series, on Prime. It is about Mickey Bolitar, Myron's nephew, who goes to live with Myron when his father is killed. Only in the series, they have Mickey live with his aunt who turns out to be a lesbian. in the book, Mickey and his friend, Ema, kind of like each other but in the series they make her into a lesbian.
I haven't read the books but many fans are not happy that Hollywood has changed so much of Coben's book. They also changed Mickey from a 6'3" white Jewish kid to a mixed race shorter dude. Not having read the book, I didn't realize most of this. We kind of enjoyed the series but towards the end it went over the top ridiculous. Although it ends with a cliffhanger, I don't think there are any plans to have a season 2.

Is anyone watching the 20/20 limited release spinoff Bad Romance? I think they air on Mondays.
They also did one last week about the Long Island serial killer. He hasn’t gone to trial yet.
I think they’re trying to make us think it’s different than 20/20 but it just seems like a rebrand.

Monarch--Legacy of Monsters on Apple+ was really good. Kurt Russell and his son (playing a younger Kurt Russell) are in it. I really hope there is a season 2.
Murder and other Details on Hulu is good too. We're on episode 3 on that one.

I really want to see the rest of the Monarch series I started but then my subscription ended and I didn’t want to pay for it as I had too many subs. The first few episodes were really good. I will resub when a few other subs expire. There are a few shows I want to watch but kind of thinking I will wait for a few more shows to finish so I can just sub for a month and finish everything then move to another service thinking pbs masterpiece as I started watching Astrid on Prime but they only had one season and it is no no longer included. It was so good and I want to watch the next two seasons.

But I agree with femalebusiness , some of it was just a bit too unbelievable!

Has anybody watched Boy Swallows Universe yet? It's the second most watched show on Netflix in Australia (Griselda is #1) and I read somewhere the other day that it is in the top 10 in the US.
I would have binged the whole series by now, except I'm watching it with DSO, and he refuses to binge anything. It's killing me, having to wait for him to watch another episode! I am loving it. It's the best thing I've seen Travis Fimmel in. He is brilliant, as is the whole cast.
Boy Swallows Universe
The coming-of-age story follows a boy caught up in his family’s criminal dealings in 1980s Australia.
Eli makes the best of his tumultuous childhood, despite the odds: His stepdad is a drug dealer, his mom lives with addiction, his elderly babysitter just served 25 years in jail, and his brother’s a poetic clairvoyant with selective mutism. As he faces the harsh realities of life — and the looming dangers that threaten his family — Eli tries to follow his heart and understand what it means to be a good person.
The series is adapted from the bestselling semi-autobiographical novel of the same name by author and journalist Trent Dalton.
