I use enamel dots and Nuvo drops so I haven’t used a brad in years. I’m purging and decluttering and while going through my stash I realized I still have a ton of them. Are there really good uses for brads or should I put them in the discard pile?

I use them on cards (because I'm too cheap to use enamel dots on cards that will be tossed nearly instantly by the recipient).
My kids also use them for school reports & projects.

I still use mine occasionally. Sometimes I want metal, rather then enamel dots. Personally, I would keep them. Especially since they don't take up too much room.

They have a shelf life of forever, don't take up alot of space, and styles come and go. I would keep them. But then, I keep everything . I have used them for on pages and cards sometimes. Have also used them around the house. BTW, my keyboard tray is attached to the frame as we speak via brad!

I'm debating tossing mine as I live in a humid climate and rust is a concern.

They are useful if you want an element with movement that other things dont allow

For me, out of sight, out of mind. I put them on blank cards so I could see them and find I have been using them now. They are great when you want to attach something, something that doesn't like tape (burlap), or heavy card stock layers.

Sometimes I use them to mount a vellum saying to a layer, when I don't want to use glue.

I still use them occasionally. And especially with Lawn Fawn's Reveal Wheel.

I've actually kept most of my brads. Easy to store and easy to use (although it's been forever since I've used one). Eyelets on the other hand have long since found their way to new homes.

This is me as well, although now I wish I never got rid of my eyelets as I have found a use for them in my business and I have buy some. I did see somewhere online where they trimmed off the legs on the back of the brads and just glued them on like they were a button if you didn't want to make a hole in the page.

Thanks everyone for the ideas. I think they’ll be staying for a while.

I have clipped the metal tails off some and used them with glue dots so they work just like an enamel dot. Just an idea for you.

I used brads a lot so I would keep them.

Brads are useful whenever you want to make something joined or rotate, so I'd keep.

I still use brads way more than enamel dots. I’d keep them.

Brads are useful whenever you want to make something joined or rotate, so I'd keep. This is why they’ll stay in my stash. And once in a blue moon, I will make a pinwheel for a fun touch on a card or page. It doesn’t matter if you don’t need it to actually rotate. Adhesive may not hold those pinwheel points to the middle, but a brad is secure. I don’t use them often, but I will never get rid of mine.

Here's my timeline:
I had a lot of brads and wasn't using them. Donated them all and got them out of the craft room.
Lawn Fawn and other stamp companies came out with interactive elements for cards.
I bought more brads.

I agree with everyone - keep them. As with many things, you would probably find a use for them as soon as you get rid of them!

I have clipped the metal tails off some and used them with glue dots so they work just like an enamel dot. I do this too! Especially with the larger decorative brads - so much easier than getting it through the page/element. I haven't thrown any of mine away, and actually just used found...and used!... old doodlebug glitter brads on a halloween layout.

I do love the look of a Christmas tree decorated with brads & eyelets. So cute!

I was actually going to suggest this as well. The Tim Holtz scissors work really well to trim off the legs, and glue dots are perfect for sticking them down. I don't mind putting the hole through my page and feeding them through, but for those who find that to be a pain, sticking them down might make them a bit more enamel-dot like

I finally BOUGHT some brads last year because I got Karen Burniston's popup ball and want to make a version of a reveal wheel. I'd keep them!

I’d love a reveal wheel but can’t justify the spending right now. Maybe later in the year.

Some people are using mini brads instead of glue dots on the new magic iris die from lawn fawn.

I use mine occasionally, mostly for interactive cards eg using Lawn Fawn's reveal wheel die. I'd probably hang on to a few, just in case.

Put them in front of you on your working space, give your self a deadline for them if by that time you haven’t used them then give them away

If you won’t use them purge them. I do still use mine enough that I keep them. Now eyelets I’m considering purging. I haven’t used those in I don’t know how long

I still find that brads come in quite handy where enamel dots don't always do the trick. Specifically on dimensional tags (like wooden or chipboard tags), I like to put a brad in the hole, it also helps hold them to the page so they don't pop back off.
