CREW...
”BREAKING: Last fiscal year, the Trump family took more trips that required Secret Service protection than the Obama family took in seven, according to a budget document released by the Treasury Department.”
Anyone surprised?

trump started the briefing on the coronavirus with this...
Daniel Dale.
”Trump boasts about building "168 miles" of wall. As of the official April 3 update from CBP, it was 151 miles, 2 of which were erected in places where no barrier had previously existed.”
Now, don’t y’all feel better knowing trump has this crisis well in hand and is focused on it?

But this popped up on twitter from ABC. My question, this is nice but what in heaven’s name does this have to do with the coronavirus?

Will the Feds no longer pay for every test, as was stated earlier?!?!? Federal Support Ends For Coronavirus Testing Sites As Pandemic Peak NearsApril 8, 2020 1:38 PM ET Jeff Brady Updated at 3:30 p.m. ET Some local officials are disappointed the federal government will end funding for coronavirus testing sites this Friday. In a few places those sites will close as a result. This as criticism continues that not enough testing is available. In the Philadelphia suburbs, Montgomery County has a drive-through site that has tested 250 people a day since March 21. "It has been a very successful site. We are hoping by the time it closes Friday afternoon that we will have tested a little over 5,000 individuals," says Dr. Valerie Arkoosh, who chairs the commission in the county of more than 825,000 people. Montgomery County has been hit hard by the pandemic. By Tuesday the county identified 1,294 positive cases and reported 32 COVID-19-related deaths. Arkoosh says local officials staffed the site and the federal government provided much-needed testing supplies and access to a lab. "This site came with a contract with LabCorp, who accepted 250 samples from this site every day," and she says the county is not able to secure the supplies and tests on its own. Arkoosh says the site, located on a local college campus, will shut down Friday. Similar announcements have been made in Colorado Springs, Colo., and nearby Philadelphia. A spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services tells NPR, "Many of the Community-Based Testing Sites (CBTS) are not closing, but rather transitioning to state-managed sites on or about April 10." The agency and a spokesperson for FEMA say the CBTS program originally included 41 sites. It was intended as a stop-gap to bring testing to critical locations, especially for health care facility workers and first responders. "The transition will ensure each state has the flexibility and autonomy to manage and operate testing sites within the needs of their specific community and to prioritize resources where they are needed the most," the HHS spokesperson said. **more at link www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/04/08/829955099/federal-support-for-coronavirus-testing-sites-end-as-peak-nears?utm_source=twitter.com&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=atc&utm_term=nprnews&utm_content=20200408ETA: the testing sites will remain open with Fed support for a while.

Kyle Griffin ..
”Trump: "They develop drugs like the antibiotics. You see it. Antibiotics used to solve every problem. Now one of the biggest problems the world has is the germ has gotten to brilliant that the antibiotic can't keep up with it."
Of note: The coronavirus is a virus.”
I’m not sure I would call a virus “brilliant “.
And apparently you can’t kill a virus with antibiotics. His rambling didn’t sound right so I checked with my friend Google. Antibiotics are used to kill bacteria and it seems virus have different structures and replicate in a different way than bacteria.
It took me two minutes to look this up on my iPhone. Maybe if the idiot used his iPhone less for tweeting and more for looking things up before he opens his mouth, he wouldn’t come across as an extremely stupid man.

This is basic high school biology, not some specialized knowledge. But he's standing up there talking like he just discovered this important fact and millions will believe him.

Or as Walter Shaub said..
”Trump says that this "germ," meaning the virus, is especially "brilliant" because it can't be stopped by antibiotics, which work only on bacteria and not viruses. Now might be a good time to tell the people close to you that you love them.”

I read that trump’s advisors don’t want him to spend much time at these daily briefings because ,in spite of the big ratings, he is not coming off very well. No surprise. Here is an example of why his advisors should be worried..
JM Rieger...
”REPORTER: What metrics will you use to decide when to reopen?
TRUMP: "The metrics right here."
*Points to head*
“That’s my metrics…I didn’t think of it until yesterday I said ‘You know this is a big decision'…Without question it’s the biggest decision I’ve ever had to make."

Or as Chelsea Clinton said...
”We eliminated smallpox with vaccination + targeted surveillance & contact tracing. While scientists race for a coronavirus vaccine, we need widespread #covid19 testing, contact tracing, treatment & to protect all our frontline workers. Also, antibiotics don’t treat viruses.”

Ok, as much as I dislike Trump, think he’s an idiot, and is handling this crisis in the poorest manner possible, I’m almost ready to extend him a small amount of grace on this.
In the NY trial hydroxychloroquine IS paired with Zithromax for treatment of Covid 19, which is an antibiotic. IF he were so darn busy solving the crisis, making sure the Federal Government is supporting the hot spots, making sure our military personnel have PPE, making sure federal government employees have masks to go to work, that he skimmed the briefs saw Zithromax and babbled about antibiotics. But that is not the case. Still I’ll keep my outrage for more egregious things.
HOWEVER, I have family members who are federal employees who have to go into work and while they are required to wear a mask they have NOT been provided one. I could have given Trump a bit of leeway when he said the rest of the federal stockpile is for “us” IF *US* meant him & the other federal employees. But that isn’t what he meant. Who the fuck knows what he meant. WHERE are the PPE he’s confiscating going?

Unfortunately maybe he did just discover the difference between virus and bacteria.! How many people still go the the DR with a cold and ask for antibiotics?

Who is going to save us from this guy..
Aaron Rupar...
”TRUMP on ending social distancing: "Staying at home leads to death also. It's very traumatic for this country. But staying at home, if you look at numbers, that leads to a different kind of death, perhaps ...so it's a very big decision. It's the biggest decision I will ever make"
You know what he’s doing don’t you? He wants to re-open the country because , in his tiny little brain, he believes he needs a good economy to win re-election. The sooner it starts up the better it gets by election.
And if people die because the country opened up too soon, to him that is an acceptable price to pay for him getting re-elected.

This is from March , but worth remembering! As the numbers of those infected catapult into the thousands, multiplying exponentially on a weekly basis, Americans should remember that this president deliberately stalled the testing process at the outset, because he was more concerned about what higher numbers would do to his election chances. It’s not clear how many more people will get sick or die because of Trump’s deliberate inaction, but it is going to be a substantial number. Had Trump pushed for more aggressive testing, using all the powers available to him as president, the trajectory of this pandemic could and probably would have been altered—to what extent, no one knows. But saving American lives should have been the only priority of this administration. Trump’s own perception of his re-election prospects should never have factored in to that equation. As the country rapidly goes to ground, and our hospitals begin to fill up with the sick, that may at least give Americans something to occupy their thoughts. ** www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/3/13/1927255/-NPR-Trump-deliberately-stalled-coronavirus-testing-because-it-would-hurt-his-re-election-chances

America last: Rep. Porter has receipts showing Trump chose a quick buck over American lives** Rep. Katie Porter has been all business since being elected to office. Today, Rep. Porter released a report showing that in spite of growing concerns and warnings about the potential oncoming pandemic threat of the COVID-19 virus from top officials and experts, Donald Trump not only did nothing about it, he allowed ramped up exportation of much-needed medical supplies. The report, titled “EVERYONE BUT US,” charges Donald Trump with misapplying and mismanaging our nation’s medical supplies in the months leading up to our current crisis. ** But while Trump’s incompetence and criminal negligence has been well covered, Porter’s team has analyzed “previously unreported government trade data” that paints an even darker picture of how complicit in our country’s misery Donald Trump is. According to the report, the United States was not simply ill-prepared for the coming pandemic—they were actively making big money depleting our medical resources, making us even less prepared: “The value of U.S. ventilator exports jumped 22.7% percent from January to February.” And it wasn’t only ventilators. Porter says her team “found that in February 2020, the value of U.S. mask exports to China was 1,094% higher than the 2019 monthly average.” Think about that every time you read a pick-me-up story of some designer creating PPE masks for ER staff, or some grade-school kid donating their mask. And to be clear, during this same time the U.S. imported fewer PPE and cleaning supplies, as well as fewer ventilators. ** www.dailykos.com/stories/2020/4/8/1935508/-America-last-Rep-Porter-has-receipts-showing-Trump-chose-a-quick-buck-over-American-livesCopy of her report: porter.house.gov/uploadedfiles/everyone_but_us.pdf

I know that we all want, more than anything in the world, for all this to end but a celebration? Good grief, what's wrong with the man, thousands of people have died or had he not noticed? There's nothing to celebrate IMO! A celebration to go with his Happy Good Friday he tweeted out today.... Good christian he is! Does he have any idea what Good Friday is all about.. A day of mourning, reflection and prayer...

He was talking about how people of colour were more susceptible to the virus for a number of reasons. Getting high blood pressure at an earlier age, high rates of asthma in Puerto Ricans, black boys three times more than white boys to die of an asthma attack. It's was all very well to say wash your hands but 30% of Native American reservations do not have running water etc. Showing the inhaler was in part showing you could look fit and healthy but have an underlying condition that heightens your risk. www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/world-us-canada-52250754/us-surgeon-general-jerome-adams-shows-his-inhaler

The same live text from the BBC reported Trump saying Boris Johnson's ratings must be at 300%.
The UK don't run regular approval rate polls the way they do in the U.S. A line from a panel show I watched last night sums it up, we don't wish him ill, we wish him well so we can start giving out about him again.
And although it looks as if Boris is through the worst of it and is on the mend, he will be acutely aware that thousands of his fellow citizens haven't and won't make it through. He will be judged on the effectiveness of his policies to fight the virus nationally not on managing to fight the virus personally.

From The Business Insider.. ”What a problem," President Donald Trump said on March 6. "Came out of nowhere." He was referring to the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus, which the World Health Organization declared a pandemic five days later. "I would view it as is something that just surprised the whole world," the president said on March 19. "And if people would have known about it, it could have stopped — stopped being in place. Nobody knew there'd be a pandemic or an epidemic of this proportion. Nobody had ever seen anything like this before." On March 26, he added, "Nobody would have ever thought a thing like this could have happened."From the CDC 2007. CDC“Interim Pre-pandemic Planning Guidance:Community Strategy for Pandemic InfluenzaMitigation in the United States—Early, Targeted, Layered Use of Nonpharmaceutical Interventions”From the document.. ”Purpose This document provides interim planning guidance for State, territorial, tribal, and local communities that focuses on several measures other than vaccination and drug treatment that might be useful during an influenza pandemic to reduce its harm. Communities, individuals and families, employers, schools, and other organizations will be asked to plan for the use of these interventions to help limit the spread of a pandemic, prevent disease and death, lessen the impact on the economy, and keep society functioning. This interim guidance introduces a Pandemic Severity Index to characterize the severity of a pandemic, provides planning recommendations for specific interventions that communities may use for a given level of pandemic severity, and suggests when these measures should be started and how long they should be used. The interim guidance will be updated when significant new information about the usefulness and feasibility of these approaches emerges.” & ” The goals of the Federal Government’s response to pandemic influenza are to limit the spread of a pandemic; mitigate disease, suffering, and death; and sustain infrastructure and lessen the impact on the economy and the functioning of society. Without mitigating interventions, even a less severe pandemic would likely result in dramatic increases in the number of hospitalizations and deaths. In addition, an unmitigated severe pandemic would likely overwhelm our nation’s critical healthcare services and impose significant stress on our nation’s critical infrastructure. This guidance introduces, for the first time, a Pandemic Severity Index in which the case fatality ratio (the proportion of deaths among clinically ill persons) serves as the critical driver for categorizing the severity of a pandemic. The severity index is designed to enable better prediction of the impact of a pandemic and to provide local decision-makers with recommendations that are matched to the severity of future influenza pandemics.”
Yes I know this is for the influenza, but a lot of what is in this document can be applied to the pandemic that is here now. So for the idiot to say “Nobody would have ever thought a thing like this could have happened." shows his incompetence by dropping the ball and looking for excuses of why it’s not his fault. Let’s be clear, trump mishandled this from the very beginning and that is his fault and his fault alone.

He is determined to kill more Americans.... As if what he has already done isn't enough! One of Trump administration's top advisers on the coronavirus response said Saturday that by May, the U.S. should be in the "ballpark" of the diagnostic capacity needed for the economy to begin to reopen.“By May we’ll have a lot more testing than we do now,” Admiral Brett Giroir told Bloomberg. “By May, we certainly will be in the ballpark. Whether we are exactly there depends on some factors, including how much is circulating and where regionally this falls out. That is the correct answer, I can’t give you a yes or no.” ** thehill.com/homenews/administration/492383-wh-official-says-us-will-reach-ballpark-capacity-of-diagnostic-needs

During a coronavirus task force meeting in the Situation Room last month, on the same day that Trump ordered for travel to be suspended from the United Kingdom and Ireland in an effort to stem the spread of the virus, Trump reportedly asked Fauci “Why don’t we let this wash over the country?”Two anonymous sources familiar with the president’s comments confirmed the question to the newspaper. Trump was reportedly also seeking to understand why “herd immunity” to the coronavirus had been rejected. Herd immunity occurs when a large amount of the population becomes immune either through infection and recovery or inoculation. “Mr. President, many people would die,” Fauci reportedly responded to the president’s question. The Washington Post reported that Fauci initially did not understand what the president meant by “wash over,” but was then reportedly alarmed. The Washington Post also reported that six doctors who are also serving within the Trump administration have started holding their own meetings to discuss public health and medical questions nearly every day, including Dr. Deborah Birx, Fauci, Surgeon General Jerome Adams, Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Stephen Hahn and CDC Director Robert Redfield. The group was reportedly formed after some of the doctors became frustrated with what the paper referred to as “voodoo” — like Trump's push for the use of hydroxychloroquine, an anti-malaria drug, as a possible treatment for coronavirus — in larger meetings for the coronavirus response. ** thehill.com/homenews/administration/492390-wapo-trump-allegedly-asked-fauci-if-officials-could-let-coronavirus

I have 2 male relatives who posted a petition to get rid of Governor Whitmer on Facebook. I posted to one of them they should be putting their blame on Trump and Gov. Whitmer is doing the best she can with a bad situation. I was raised in a white evangelical area and I have to bite my tongue every day regarding a lot of these "christians" opinions. And I would bet that these men would not complain half as much if our governor was a man. grrrrrrrrrrrr

”USS Theodore Roosevelt now has 550 cases of Cornavirus. They only had 95 cases when CAPT Crozier's pleas for help were ignored and he was relieved of command.”
”USS T. Roosevelt update: DOD has now stopped publicizing Covid statistics for the military. I can see this from a national security standpoint but I don't think this is DOD's sole motivation. In the 80's the Soviets stopped publicizing Afghan deaths to prevent public scrutiny.”
