We are scheduled to return April 6th but my town is on shelter and place until the 8th. The district hasn’t announced an extension yet. I feel like they are waiting a bit to see how long the extension needs to be. We are planning for the rest of the year and hoping we won’t need those plans!

I haven’t read all the replies yet so apologies if our state has already been mentioned.
Vermont has just announced that physical schools will be closed the remainder of the school year and it will be remote/online learning only. Schools must come up with plans for remote learning for the rest of the year by April 13th. The original closure was until April 6th.

Not yet. But I just read an article where our governor was quoted as saying it was not likely that schools would reopen in MI. Something about they are working on a plan and it’s details and they hope to have the info released soon.

I'm in MA. Originally it was 3/30, then 4/15, now it's May 4th. With the daily increase in cases here I'd be surprised if that date "stuck".

I’m in NC. We’re out until May 15. My school’s school year ends May 22. Our principal told us today in a (Zoom) meeting that she’s hearing that we will probably not go back this school year.

They told us "indefinite" from the start, but they postponed some events until May, as hopefuls.

We are in Silicon Valley in California. Our last in class day was March 12th. The first date given was March 30th, then April 14th (returning after Spring Break), now it is May 4th.
I don't think we will go back this school year.
My 3rd grader has an hour or so of stuff to do every day.
My 1st grader has 4-6 hours.
I am a former teacher and it's killing me. I know everything the 1st grader has is good stuff and he is learning and I am super supportive of all the work his teacher is doing and trying to maintain normalacy for the kids. But it is taking all day to get stuff done and his sister is done and doing other stuff.
I am going to email my oldest's teacher to ask for more for her to do, mostly to help keep me sane, since I have the 2 little ones that I am also trying to entertain and keep quiet while dh is working from home. It's been cold (for CA this time of year) and while they are getting outside some I am looking forward to it being warmer so they can spend a lot of time outside.

Were out last week, this week is Spring Break, supposed to go back April 20. We’ll see how the numbers are here in AR, I have my doubts as projected peak is mid-to-late April. I am a lunch lady at a Primary School, and I’m concerned about returning in April. I do the Cashier job, which gives me face-to-face contact with at least 250 kids each day. Ordinarily I love it, not so much right now...

We are in PA. Our schools were closed through March 27th, but earlier this week the governor extended it for 2 more weeks. Our school district said we will go back April 15th. They said parents called and asked that they still give us our 4 days off around Easter so families in the district can visit relatives for the holiday. So, not only do we get to go back so soon, but we get to have kids around kids whose families have traveled and had big family dinners!
That put me in a bad mood! But they sent the announcement right after Trump said we would be ready to go by Easter. I love how are governor is doing things, so I it wouldn't surprise me if they are eventually closed for the rest of the school year. But I think he is making announcements for 2 weeks at a time so people don't get mad (for not opening schools earlier). I would love them to go back to school, but I want what's best for our country, and if keeping kids home makes it safer, I am all for that.

We’re online for the remainder of the year as of last night. We’re still awaiting guidance as to what that means.

Parents have been told that we MAY go back sometime in May, but today and next Monday and Tuesday there’s a schedule for pickup of workbooks, locker contents, and Chromebooks (for middle school students). Distance learning starts on Tuesday.
The superintendent has told us that if she were to bet on it, she’d put money on us NOT physically going back to school this year.

We originally were going back on March 30th. Last week the closure was extended to May 1st. At that point, my school district will have just 3 weeks left so I won't be surprised if we don't go back at all.

We had a date of March 30th, it has been changed to May 15th. Our pool is getting open Easter weekend, causethe parks, walking trails are packed and the beaches have been closed (stupid spring breakers ruined it for those of us that live here). We go to an all digital format next Tuesday, the college classes that my daughter is taking started virtually this week. Gotta love NC.

Our Texas school district is closed indefinitely. Suspicions are high that school will not return this year.

School is done in the Bay Area, pretty much all the schools agree. Chico State is done (ended mid May anyway).

We are on an extended break in Oklahoma. This week our state Board of Education voted to complete the year using distance learning. We’ve had a district meeting via Zoom this week and will have PD the same way through next week. Distance learning will begin on April 6 and continue through the end of the year. My district’s last day is May 21.

MN was extended to the end of April/May 1st. One of the local high schools to me had a line of cars wrapped around it for hours yesterday for kids to clear out their lockers. So I don't think they're going back at all this year. But that's me.

Not yet. Last week was a short week for students, but we didn't have school so we didn't have to teach. This week was spring break. Next week we start teaching online and return on April 6th. We expect it to change.

Most of the schools around here (central Iowa) were just starting to go on Spring Break when the nationwide cancellations started happening. During the SB week the governor declared that schools should be closed until at least April 13th. Districts are looking into online learning options/possibilities, but I still don't see how it would work for my oldest son's huge, diverse, and economically challenged district. Just today one of his teachers sent an email out saying they are looking at where grades are at (for at least high school classes) and what work needs to be done to successfully complete the semester...
My youngest son's private school is already doing online learning...and I really hope they get to go back to school because it's not good for him (shy, quiet, and ADD makes for minimal learning on Zoom, plus he claims he's reading his textbooks, but either he really isn't or he isn't retaining anything). He is great about getting on his laptop and doing the Zoom sessions and some of the homework, but it's also hard when big brother is not having to do any work (even though we are trying to find him some things).
Schools are scheduled to end around Memorial Day and if there's no further closures they can still do that (missed days up to April 13th have been excused by the government). But if there are extensions then I don't know what will happen to my older son's end date.

We’re still closed until April 24th in WA, until further notice. Today we received a link from our district to a survey about tech capabilities in our home. I’m sure they are planning some kind of online instruction for the rest of the year.

New Mexico - My mom informed me this morning that schools are closed throughout state for the rest of the year. Nevada - I'm a teacher. We are scheduled to return April 17th. Our governor has been tough (and right on this) and closed down gaming, non-essential businesses, groups of 10, etc. for 30 days nearly two weeks ago. He is using data to make decisions and adjusts as needed. My guess is that we will not be back. Our normal end time is scheduled for May 20th. We started remote instruction/learning this week. Whew! Talk about a learning curve! P.S. I'm on my lunch break as I'm typing this!

Not yet. We're scheduled to return on 4/6. I don't see it happening, though. Yeah, I was surprised the governor did not address that today; I guess we will find out next Friday? We begin spring break today, so as of right now, we’re scheduled to return April 8...? But, CPS is out until 4/20 so I really don’t see that happening. I don’t know. I do NOT want to go back 4/8 knowing that virus cases are expected to peak in this area in April.

It's been cold (for CA this time of year) and while they are getting outside some I am looking forward to it being warmer so they can spend a lot of time outside. Why not create your own work for the 3rd grader? I set my 3rd grader up on Khan Academy. I put that I am a teacher (which I am) and made a class just for her and I assign stuff out to her. Her teacher isn't giving much or having them do anything really. I'm not ok with that because I'm teaching 9-2 daily and I need her to be busy so she's not tormenting her brother. We do "learning" on Khan 9-10, art/free play 10-11, clean up/chores 11-12/lunch 12-1, "learning" in the form of reading or seesaw class app or khan again 1-2/parent read out loud with the 4 year old brother, and if work has been done and no "detention" time out given during the day a sucker is given. A schedule really helps keep us going here. Too much free time makes for craziness that none of us can handle well. There are TONS of fun virtual field trips you can have her do. Ask the teacher to "assign" them so it's not coming from you. Also, there are always books to read and projects to do. Our Accelerated Reader has been opened up for kids to take the tests from home. Mo Willems does a lunch time doodle. Search it up and there are archives. Why not give her "art" as part of her day?

Some provinces in Canada are out indefinitely, some until, the end of the year. I'm a school trustee in a BC school district & I had no idea. We are being directed to deliver online learning.
We do have one of the best doctors in the world leading on our provincial response so I remain positive.

We are not going to be over this in two weeks and everyone knows that. Even Trump mentioned that today well more like hinted at it reluctantly. I am so tired of people that are told to stay at home but think that the rules apply to everyone but them snd are out visiting with friends and having play dates. Shopping daily etc.
