I work in finance so I’m deemed essential. So far we are working on our office but it is closed to public access so i don’t feel too exposed as there is only me and one other person in the office.

I teach nursing online. Currently I am working from home 9usually in the office 4 days a week). In addition to my own classes I am preparing to take over classes from our adjuncts who are working the front lines. I am scheduled to teach 12 credits this summer. If classes are canceled I will volunteer at a local hospital.

I am so sorry healthcare workers. I am so sorry sometimes I just get so angry, and just want to cry. And sometimes I do.

I am very seriously considering taking a contract to go work on NYC right now. They are erecting field hospitals and need nurses. It's rough: 15 pts per RN, 14-21 day stretches before you get a day off and 10-12 hour days. But you'll get $10k per week, $76 daily for food, and they're putting you up in a hotel. Now is the best time in my life to be able to do something like this. I'm kind of bored here right now and this is really tempting. I'm thinking about it. are the nurses who worked doe the hospitals before getting this kind of pay too?

I’m an RN and I work in a nursing home. I do Medicare assessments at the moment but I’m ready to step in and do any job needed when the time comes as long as I am given appropriate PPE. I will not care for a rule out or confirmed case with a ducking bandana. Don't worry, your rule-out will at least get you a surgical mask that sits in a paper bag with your name on it all shift when not in use. Lol I actually just kept mine on all night, what the hell does it matter But I can tell you one thing, if I have a rule out coughing all over I'll storm the gates of SPD to get an N95 and a face shield. I'm not playing. I'm not scared, but I'm also not stupid. If we don't protect healthcare workers, there won't be any of us left to protect everyone else. DH worked Sunday at a hospital outside his normal group as he has done for years. They are only giving N95s to DOCTORS. You know the ones who barely deal with the patient? Nurses and RTs are nor getting N95s. DH happened to have one on him and wore it all day. I told him if that happens next time (in a couple of weeks) that he can walk out and quit. He picks up shifts there for extra money. We can live without it.

I work in child protective services. We still complete investigations and monthly contacts are required. We’ve prioritized our ongoing cases: in home, foster care, residential. Ongoing supervisor with Child Welfare here. Our staff is bring encouraged to telework as much as possible. In office visits are suspended Face to face safety plan monitoring is prioritized, although in some cases even that is virtual. We are not getting as many calls reporting abuse..it’s happening, I am sure of that. It’s just that many mandatory reporters are not interacting with children right now. All Child welfare case workers are classified as essential.

I’m struggling a bit. I’m also an RN and I work on a medical/telemetry unit at our largest area hospital. We have a dedicated unit for rule outs and positive patients but my unit will have one at any given time due to our negative pressure room. I had a rough day...I was assigned to the one rule out patient on airborne precautions and despite numerous efforts (literally an hour and a half of trying), we don’t have a mask that fits my face properly at this time. My face is too small and even our “universal” respirator leaked. I wasn’t able to work with this patient. I’m being hard on myself because I want to be able to help with these patients (and share the workload with my coworkers) but can’t without proper PPE. I’ve spent much of my evening trying to track down a small mask, one I am even willing to pay for, but so far no luck. It’s best I avoid Facebook for a bit as well...I’m emotionally hurting and find myself crying daily over the state of our world. For every positive post, there are 1,000 negatives and it’s too much right now. My heart is aching for our people. I have a little girl at home and a severely at-risk family member living in my house. I’ve contemplated pitching a tent somewhere or looking into a hotel or Airbnb as anxiety washes over me in waves every day for fear I’ll be exposed or expose my loved ones. It’s pretty agonizing. thank you, and my love and prayers

I work with travel nurses all the time, they make more than I do, that's the nature of travel nursing. In this case it's excessively more than usual and you'll be worked like a dog under crisis conditions.

He’s very immune compromised, and is still going to work because the governor refuses to shut down all non-essential. He’s a flooring installer, and has picked up more bugs working at the hospital in the past than I can count. Thankfully, he has a n95 mask properly fitted because he often works with toxic materials. I was anxious about him being laid off, but I’d take the anxiety of that over the sky high anxiety of this. I don’t know how y’all are doing it, seeing loved ones going to work there everyday. 😓

I'm considered essential - I work in Health Care - not front line - I'm finance / physician enrollment - the enrollment piece is pretty busy right now as we try to bring on more providers to help at the hospitals. I am able to work from home most days. I miss my co-workers and prefer being in the office.

I would sign up in a heartbeat if I thought they would let me. I would be willing to do here locally for the hospitals to help take the load off their staff. I have nobody who lives with me so my odds of contaminating anyone in my home are zero. They are working on setting up a similar thing here in California, or so the rumors go. We will see. Im considered essential even though we work remotely. We are attending office visits with patients on a case by case basis. Many have switched to telehealth, however some are still required to go into the provider's office. I have a letter to carry with me when I go so that if anyone questions my movements, I have a letter stating I am essential. I disagree with this designation as none of my people are emergent in any way, but there you go.

I do phone support for a telecom company so yes we are considered essential. I was sent home on the 16th with a fever and haven’t been back yet. They are offering the ability to work from home but I live in a rural area outside of town and don’t have internet that can support the software needed. I’ll be going back in Monday and I’m not looking forward to it. It’s a completely different world and my department is just getting dumped on. We are getting overflow from every other department that we don’t have the tools to handle and we aren’t allowed to transfer back.

We don't get N95s for the r/o pts unless there are aerosolyzing procedures. Could you split care with someone? We're not even keeping them in negative pressure rooms anymore, there aren't enough of those. But things change every day and we now have faster testing. I understand your concerns for your family members. I am sure I would be a lot more anxious if I had small children at home. It's just me and DH now. I think he's ready for me to take one of those lucrative travel assignments, but I'm not sure how my employer will feel about it or if they'd allow me 8 weeks off to do this. Right now patient volumes are actually down because the usual bullshitters are actually staying out of the ER. Amazing what's no longer such an emergency! It's like people are finally figuring out back pain that started 3 months ago doesn't need a visit on a Sunday night. (Obviously, I'm not talking about actual emergencies!)

A huge thank you to healthcare workers, grocery, and all of the other essential workers for what you do! Where would we be without you?!
I'm not essential, but if I want eat and have a place to live, I have to go out and deliver the food people order. That's where I'm at in my life right now and I'm a little nervous about it everyday.
