I just finished rewatching the QL series and was once again broken hearted at the ending. I didn’t watch it when it was first on, but I wondered if there was supposed to be another season but it was cancelled, hence the sad epilogue at the end. I did some quick googling and found out that someone had found negatives that were clearly Al and Beth, but Beth was aged giving credence to the existence of an alternate scene that had long been floating around, even though Bellasario denied it existed. Lo and behold, sometime last year someone found the actual filmed scene. Bakula confirmed that several scenes had been filmed and that this one was legitimate. Here is a link if anyone wants to watch, probably need to turn the subtitles on as the sound is pretty bad. It doesn’t definitely give a happy ending, but it would have been cool to see where they were going. www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_EhIpF4Cwc

I love that show.
They could have at least let them film a proper ending and wrap up, it was so disappointing to have it end the way it did.

I loved Quantum Leap. I should rephrase that. I love Quantum Leap - present tense. I binged it back in the Netflix days when you got discs in the mail 2 at a time. I went through the whole series two discs at a time. I do remember there being some articles in entertainment magazines and TV Guide at the time that it aired that they were planning for another season and then it was suddenly cancelled.

That was a good one. Anyone like The Pretender? Quantum Leap and The Pretender are two of my all time favorite series! And I will forever have a crush on Scott Bakula because of Quantum Leap.😍

And I will forever have a crush on Scott Bakula because of Quantum Leap.😍 Oh yes - well he was the perfect sensitive man. I watched the pretender as well, although I preferred it at the start when Jarrod was a bit 'darker' he got a bit to goody-goody later on. I always admired Miss Parker's dress sense...

It's been so long, I don't remember details. I did like it when it was on.

Anyone want to give me a recap of the original and alternate endings? In the original ending Sam finds out he actually is in control of his leaps. He goes back to Beth dancing by herself (he appears as himself) and tells her that Al is alive and he is coming home. The camera then pans to the photo of young Al and the picture gets the streaky blue sparkly effect that Sam has when he leaps. Then there are a few title cards. One says that Beth never remarried, the next one says she and Al have daughters and are going to celebrate their 39th anniversary in June. The final one says that Sam never leaped home. In the alternate it is Al and older Beth in their house talking how Sam must be leaping as himself and how Al should leap himself to find Sam.

I was so in love with that show. Even though I felt the last 2-3 season jumped the shark a little, I still watched every single week. I was devastated by the ending. It still goes down as one of the absolute worst series endings of all times in my book.

I loved that show, thanks for sharing the video. I remember being so happy that Al was able to get back to her.

Pretender was my favorite. Always wondered why they weren’t played on re-runs. I got all the illegal DVDs on ebay at the time. Still have them! They did two 'movies' at the end, but they didn't really wrap up the series either and I recall having even more questions after watching those. I think they were hoping it would get picked up again.

Oh how I loved that show. I was totally in love with Scott Bakula. He aged so well, too. I HATED the ending, but I love LOVE that he gave up his life for Al. I love that. After everything that Al did for him, he sacrificed himself for Al. In that regard, the ending was perfect.

Once at college I was watching Quantum Leap on one of the community TVs when a girl from my floor came by with her boyfriend. He hadn't seen the show before so she was trying to fill him in really fast, but she had somehow gotten the idea that Sam was dead and trying to earn his way into heaven, and Al was an angel guiding him. it was bizarre how she kind of got it but was so totally off.
