AKA, went out for groceries. It was interesting. I went 2 places, target and a grocery store. I got to target about an hour and a half after they opened. Not many other customers, lots of workers stocking things. Frozen veggies were pretty much gone, and the chips and snacks were kind of picked over. They had lots of paper towels and toilet paper, but I didn't need any. They were out of cart wipes and had a bottle of spray and a roll of paper towels. I had actually brought my own wipes in my bag, so that was not a big deal. Most of the customers were staying apart and everybody was shopping alone. I used the self checkout and the girl working there was cleaning each spot after each customer. Some of the workers had on gloves, other than that I saw no masks or gloves on anyone. They had the Starbucks and the snack bar blocked off with carts so no one could go in and hang out. Second stop, the grocery store. They had cart wipes, but zero paper towels or toilet paper. Again, everybody shopping alone except for one young couple with a baby. Completely out of saltines, which sucked because they are great for when my stomach is upset. Fully stocked on chips and frozen veggies. I had been worried about the checkout process, because this store has no self checkout, so I was happy to see lines on the floor to keep spacing, signs at each checkout to remind people to stay behind the lines, and they were in the process of installing barriers for the cashiers. There were only 2 checkouts open, so I picked the one with the barrier in place. Again I saw no masks or gloves until I was on my way out, then I saw a gal with both.
Overall, both stores seemed pretty well stocked, which was a nice change from the madhouse I saw when I was last out 2 weeks ago. I was able to get everything on my list except for those darn saltines and we should be all set for at least 2 more weeks. Then I returned home and DH and I wiped down everything in the garage before we brought it inside. He laughed at how much I bought, but my goal was to push the next trip out as far as possible. The worst part for me was using all those plastic bags! We left them in the garage for now and will eventually use them for lining garbage cans, but I just hated using them. I love my reusable bags!

My experience has been the same. I'm in metro Atlanta and went out to Target, Aldi, and Publix last Friday and found things calm and orderly in every store. While a couple sections of each store were sparse, I was able to find everything I needed. I'm finding people, both customers and staff, more courteous than ever. At both Target and Publix, they are wiping down the carts before and after you use them.
At least around here, it seems the supply chain is catching up and recovering from the initial rush in those first frantic days.

I went to our local grocery and Trader Joe’s today. Found everything I needed, although they were out of yeast at the grocery store. I was mostly buying fresh produce there and my mom wanted oatmeal as she has not been able to obtain some from grocery pick up.
Trader Joe’s was well stocked, but I was surprised they didn’t have wipes for the carts or baskets and although there was someone at the door he was not sanitizing them. At our grocery store there is someone who wipes the cart or basket and hands it to you. At Trader Joe’s they had a line to get in, but everyone was staying in their designated spot to wait. Inside most people were respectful, but everything is so squishy there it took forever to get done because I was trying to give everyone their 6 feet even when they stood 2 feet away from the green beans I wanted while looking at the frozen risotto for a good 15 minutes!
I don’t have gloves and don’t want to take them from people who really need them, so I walk around with plastic bags on my hands while shopping. It’s a good look. 😀

Thanks for sharing your experiences! It's good to know people seem to really care, and are following the recommendations. Good to know they are well stocked, even if you have to go to two stores.

I went to two grocery stores this morning. The first one had tp (limit one) and only the four packs but no beans or flour or tylenol or generic tylenol, I didn't check the eggs because I didn't need them, but the meat was not limit of two anymore. I heard the check outs were supposed to have added plexi-glass barriers but they didn't have them at this store. Second store was about the same although they were wiping down the carts for you, at the first store you had to do it yourself I did find canned beans (I'm making chili) and pizza toppings that I couldn't find at the first store (they might have been there, I wasn't sure where to look) and bananas that weren't completely green. No lines really at either store in comparison to two weeks ago when I stood in line for over an hour.

I need to go to the store some time this week. For the first time, I may wear something over my nose/mouth. We need fruits and veggies.

I went yesterday. Our Safeway was well stocked. I was hoping to not go our for another week, but I think I might have to go out again this week. My daughter has been baking a mean streak and I have two college kids home, which I am not used to, so it looks like we are about out of milk, again.

I went last thursday and found everything I needed but clorox wipes and flour. And I don't need those for about two weeks I just wanted to see if I could get them now so I did not have to go out again. Hoping things catch up and People start shopping normally again

I just went barehanded, did the shopping, put the bags in the car and then went back inside to wash before getting in the car myself.

Amazingly enough the screens at the checkout work with the plastic bag gloves too. I was really worried about those, but I literately didn’t touch anything with my bare hands the entire trip. I totally forgot to take pictures for my scrapbook, next week when I go out I will. Could be a new trend!

I had to wait about 15 minutes for Trader Joe’s to open, but that made it so I was one of the first batch let in. Chucks had a lot of flour, but I think I am on the opposite side of town as you, I go to the one on Mill Plain. They seem very well stocked, but of course their prices for staples run high. I should be good for 10 days, will need to go back out for meat and more veg then. Hopefully the stores will stay stocked.

I went to a couple of stores last Friday and it was similar. The first grocery store and Walmart had no paper products. The second one had enough. I got my dd a package of tp. The groceries were pretty well stocked at my last stop and that's where we'll go from now on. I stocked up enough so we wouldn't have to go out for the next 3-4 weeks except if we need fresh veggies.
I also did not like not using my reusable bags. It was painful!

I need to go to the store some time this week. For the first time, I may wear something over my nose/mouth. We need fruits and veggies. I went to the grocery store last Thursday for the first time in 2 weeks and wore a homemade mask. Honestly, it was more to keep me from touching my face with my hands until I could sanitize them. People were probably laughing at me but I really don’t care much what people think.

These are good reports compared to just a week ago! It was just taking the stores time to restock.
Unless you've worked retail, most don't realize when a brand new store opens it takes a huge crew WEEKS to stock an empty store. Grocery stores were not prepared to be completely wiped out in a day, let alone have a crew large enough to even put a dent into restocking in a single night. I've noticed most stores around here have shorted their hours so they have more time to restock overnight, so I think that is really helping.
The food was always there...just not enough hands to restock the shelves in such a short amount of time.

I’m in San Diego. I went to Trader Joe’s at 11:15 this morning and had to wait in line for about 25 minutes before I could go inside. They were fully stocked with everything I needed except for green onions. My Trader Joe’s has plenty of wipes for your cart, they were offering hand sanitizer at the door and an employee was sanitizing the handles of the baskets in case you wanted one instead of a cart.
They also handed out bottled water and protein bars while we waited in line and allowed elderly and disabled patrons to skip the line.

I was going to stay the beaches in Normandy were closed at the mo'... Plus, not exactly known for social distancing! Haven't been in a store for weeks now but our last pick-up order got 90% filled! Almost everything is readily available again here: from toilet paper to eggs. What I'm struggling to find in my nook of the world are hand sanitiser (since February), disinfectant wipes/spray, eating oranges, fresh poultry and baker's yeast. I can still find boxes of disposable gloves online, however.

It’s a good look. 😀 My hands are sweating profusely just thinking about it hahaha I haven't been going to the store — just relying on my Imperfect Produce order every week. And the first week was nuts...our box was delayed for 2 days. But last week I had everything I wanted, minus some salmon I ordered. And this week, when I went to select the grocery items I wanted, I noticed there was a LOT more protein selection. And there were a few types of eggs...not just one. So I think grocery supply chains are starting to catch up and grocers are preparing for more inventory.

I went to the Walmart neighborhood market this morning to buy groceries for my mother. It was not busy at all, it was fairly easy to keep my distance. I didn’t check the cleaning/paper products aisles, but most food items were stocked. There wasn’t a lot of selection in beans or rice; The only thing I couldn’t find was corn meal.

Plenty of oranges yesterday, but fresh chicken, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes/spray I haven’t seen in over a month now.

My last trip to the grocery store here was the end of last week and things were very well stocked again at Aldi. I'm good for a while now and won't need to venture out until the end of this week for bread, milk, and fresh produce.

We desperately needed fresh produce so this morning I ventured out to a large Asian grocery store (Good Fortune in Falls Church, for you locals). They have a HUGE produce section so it was easy to stay away from anyone else, unlike the produce section at my regular grocery store. I bought everything I had on my list, plus a few extras (mangoes, kumquats, and eggplant...now to look up what the heck I do with kumquats...but they looked interesting, lol). I also bought frozen samosas, and some chocolate wafer cookies because you know how much I need cookies after gaining 2 pounds last week. We're having the samosas and salads for dinner.

I am the only one leaving the house so I go on the way home from work. N95 mask and gloves are my new shopping attire. Picking up online orders from Home Depot and Target. Also Wegmans for milk and the elusive TP.
