I'm looking to implement some fun social or team building activities at work now that we're all working remotely and don't see each other every day. The goal is to bring some fun to everyone's day and to use it as an opportunity for employees to get to know each other better.
Is anyone doing anything fun with their remote coworkers that they could share? Or do you have any ideas that you think might work for a remote team?

My office set up a virtual kitchen site for people to interact -kind of like a message board. There are a couple of people who post things from time to time trying to get others to respond. Some ideas they’ve tried so far:
post a pic of your workspace (someone posted their makeshift standing desk - laptop on a chair placed on top of a dining table).
Also show the view out your window
Post your favorite online workout site
What can I make with (oddball pantry ingredients you’re trying to use up)
Post pics of your coworkers( pets, kids)
Tomorrow (3/31) is Quarantine-o-ween, so we’re asking people to post pics of themselves or kids or pets in costumes

Great idea! We have a work only FB page that we've been trying to use to connect with every one on the team with basic chit chat, share of resources and info, etc. . The problem is that over 1/2 my colleagues have been layed off while the rest of us continue to work from home. Makes it difficult to do somethings ( pix of pet co-workers, your work from home station, etc) but I'll be watching for ideas that will work for all of us.

My office is doing daily morning Zoom meetings. They are between 10-30 minutes, and it does help.
We also did virtual happy hour at 4:00 on Friday. We had a zoom meeting, but people could have a drink if they wanted, or just come and talk. We didn't talk business, it was casual chatting. It was fun.

We are having meetings through zoom.com and last week we all had hats on. Then several co-workers would change their hats during the meeting.

We were doing Zoom Happy Hours but 70% of us just got laid off. We were trying to keep spirits up, but now no one is happy or pretending to be. 😭 It was fun while it lasted though, seeing people in their natural habitats.

I love all your ideas, I'm wondering where we can host things like this.

They’re using Teams, forcing us all to learn to use it 😀

I have been hosting virtual happy hour via Meet on Fridays! It's nice.
My school is also doing a "virtual spirit week" with dress up days and the kids and teachers can send in photos of themselves.
Please tell me you've seen this:

My team has coffee chats 2x a week and I have others with other co-workers throughout the week. Some of the other things we are doing/have done:
- Online pictionary - Trivia - Virtual happy hour - Scenes from a window (photo outside your window)
We also have a work Facebook group at our company and on our department page we celebrated what should have been MLB Opening Day last week with everyone dressing up to represent their favorite team and posting photos. We are also having virtual spirit week next week with the following themes:
- Logo day wearing items from our company and using a hashtag that our company is using on our company Facebook group
- Socially or not-so Socially Distanced Twin Day Dress like a socially distanced co-workers or two and post a photo of you and your "twin(s)" and/or dress like your "co-worker(s)" at home. Remember pets are co-workers right now!
- Disney Day Wear your favorite Disney attire including any brands that fall under the Disney umbrella like Star Wars, Marvel, etc
- Tacky Tourist Day Let's have a real time vacation! Share photos of your current vacation destination: Family room, front porch, dining room, etc. Get creative! Dress like a tacky tourist or wear a shirt from your favorite vacation spot. Post photos of your real time vacation and/or photos from past vacations
- Hat Day Wear your favorite or craziest hat, get creative!
I'm looking forward to seeing other ideas!

My coworkers and I (some) go to trivia fairly often. She made a trivia contest for teams using Zoom’s breakout sessions and a google doc. It was really fun and we are going to do it again on Friday night.
